A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin is amazing and what I use as a break from reading so much political work. Don't overwhelm yourself with the heavy real-world stuff, comrade!

As far as socialist works, which is what I assume you want: The Essential Works of Lenin. It's a 4-in-1 book with The Development of Capitalism in Russia, What Is to Be Done?, Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism and The State and Revolution. Takes less time, money and resources to get this one book rather than all four separately.

I'm half way through God and the State by Bakunin, but I won't really recommend that. I'm not really a fan of Bakunin's writing style and for such a small piece of (unfinished) writing it's rather dense.

Fidel Castro's autobiography My Life is a great one to bridge the gap between political reading and leisure reading.

> I'd recommend getting a reader or companion version [like this](A Companion to Marx's Capital https://www.amazon.com/dp/1844673596/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_oBK9yb5GJRRTE).

Fuck that. How is this hack still being recommended? He says that there are three types of value. You only need to read the first fucking chapter of Capital to know that this is bullshit.

Michael Parenti did a book on the subject To Kill a Nation which switches between details of the events and actions of the independence factions that were overlooked by the coverage (particularly the actual Hitlerites Franjo Tudjman and Alia Izetbegovic) using primary sources, and an examination of the nature of the coverage using a mix of primary and secondary sources.

Here's a clip of him talking if you want to get an idea of the subject matter of the book.
