I'm thinking of getting the Samsung Rugged Case, and wondering if a screen protector will fit when using the case? Thinking of this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074G1W2RC?psc=1&pf_rd_p=f0eab1e5-6fb9-41f0-8024-4a7d38a13342&pf_rd_r=R76VSD0T544FVPWWDT7T&pd_rd_wg=NJnyc&pd_rd_i=B074G1W2RC&pd_rd_w=yRbXz&pd_rd_r=6339ede4-664b-44f1-9027-5c3f30083341&ref_=pd_luc_rh_crh_rh_sim_02_01_t_img_lh

I ordered a screen protector for my kid's Switch, and it seems pretty good with a nice fit.

Appreciate any info on whether they'll work together. Cheers

The Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector covers and fills in small scratches on the actual phone glass: It's not really a repair per se, but the full-coverage liquid adhesive (that you cure with a UV light) makes scratches invisible to the naked eye under the screen protector. You'll also be preventing more scratches and have some protection against the phone cracking from being dropped. I have one and love it, totally worth the cost but you need to watch the tutorials and be careful about installation. It's the best screen protector on the market right now for curved screens.

u/kevinstonge · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

Lots of people love the Staedtler stylus (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072N31S7C) ... I think it's pretty neat but I'm not a fan of carrying extra shit around, so mine stays next to my bed 24/7.

I did pick up a GearVR and ... ehhhh... some people love it but I just am not impressed by the quality of the games available nor by the quality of most 360 YouTube videos. I mean you can pay $8 for a game that nobody would play for FREE if it weren't for the novelty of wearing your phone on your face.

Otherwise, it depends what you want to do, maybe get one of those attachable lenses to enhance the camera. Maybe get a case that can hold a couple of credit cards and cash so that you can try to go without a wallet.

u/llaas · 11 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I am going to give you my conclusions after reading alot about this topic before I got mine.

The best one so far is Whitestone dome. If you can get it, do so and save yourself from wasting your money on products that wont work. Although it is the best, it is not perfect.
Cons:

u/ExxInferis · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I use this one. Built-in screen protector makes a very minor drop in finger sensitivity, but perfect for harsh working environments.

Best part is when at home it's easy to pop out and enjoy the phone as Samsung intended.

u/mr-prez · 6 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

The best case in my opinion is this one by Urban Armor Gear. They're very rugged and barely make the phone thicker. I've used them on all my phones. My note 3 from 2013, my S7Edge, and now my Note 8. Never had any issues with them breaking or colors changing over time.

As far as glass screen protectors this one from amazon is pretty good. It even comes with a plastic guide so the protector gets perfectly aligned. The only problem is I can't use the screen protector and my UAG case at the same time. So I'm just using the UAG case by itself because that seems more substantial than just the screen protector.

u/illithidbane · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

Agreed. I save $160 / phone by using Best Buy instead of Verizon. If that costs me preorder items, oh well. I can get an SD Card for $45 right now, and I can just skip the wireless charging and plug the thing in. The cold hard cash is more important. And I might still get the bonus items anyway.

u/10pmStalker · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Yeah it will play games really well. Even emulators that don't run so smoothly on some other phones work nice on the Note 8. For a case, I'm a huge fan of the
[Spigen Rugged Armor] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073RWJ6Z7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_IK1UzbN5Q1CVM)

I've had it for the Note 7 then S7 Edge, now the Note 8.

I don't drop my phone so I can't tell you if it will keep it safe.

u/_wbdana · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Not the guy you asked, but https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074G1W2RC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . They are tempered glass.

My wife and I have used them both, and my wife has gotten two warranty replacements from them (both after she dropped her phone and the protector cracked). TBH, despite the 3.5 stars on Amazon, they're fantastic. You might lose just a sliver (1mm? less?) of screen real estate around the edges because they have a black border, but I would highly recommend them if you can live with that and follow the installation instructions. It's very easy to install if your phone is dust-free and you use the included alignment guide "case".

Here's the installation video for the Note 8:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8Ii95W5FBc

It's also compatible with the Spigen Tough Armor, which both my wife and I use as well. Haven't had any issues with S-Pen/finger sensitivity either.

I really like the Spigen thin fit cases. I had them for both my N7 and S7E and absolutely loved them.

Spigen Thin Fit - Amazon

Also, Caseology is having a promo where you can get one of their cases (they have slim cases too) for $5. I just picked one up along with a Spigen thin fit. (No, not being paid to say this, lol)

Caseolgy Skyfall - Amazon

u/Golden_Taint · 6 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Right here, the Thin Fit case by Spigen. I always try a few cases with a new phone and fell in love with this one. Fits super slim but very grippy. Love it.

u/SellsNothing · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I got my case from Caseology for 5 bucks using a pre-order coupon and I've been loving it so far. They're still on sale for 10 bucks if you want one. Pretty slim, good grip, and has raised edges to protect the screen in case the phone lands on it.

u/mrpiper1980 · 0 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Aesthetical (if you're into that stuff) get :

u/nizmoz · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

Actually no, there are two good ones that work as well. I had this one and it was awesome. It just doesn't prevent finger prints. It however works great for touch sensitivity. This is the one I have.

After going though a couple of Whitestone protectors I gave up on them. They seem really bad about lifting which causes bubbles. Anyway I started running these amFilm protectors a while back and have been quite happy with them. They aren't perfect(there is some reduced touch sensitivity, especially on the edges), but for the price I'll keep using them. The oleophobic coating is pretty good when they are new, but it does wear off after a while. I'll probably be replacing mine pretty soon just because the coating has worn off, but at $10 each it's not a big deal.

u/enalios · 4 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I have a note 8.

I went without a screen protector or case for a while. I was totally fine with microscratches, I just don't want cracks. Well, eventually it cracked after one really really bad evening.

After getting a replacement with insurance, I know use a Spigen neo hybrid case and this protector

The only problem I've had is that I spilled some soda and a tiny bit got under the protector.

I hike a pretty rough trail about once a week. I haven't dropped it on the trail but I feel pretty confident about it. Ive dropped it at the office and at the house and obviously the phone and screen are totally fine.

EDIT: there is a small change in responsiveness. The only time I notice it is when I use the camera because I often stand it precariously in my desk and lightly tap it to start a timer. Now I have to brace it to tap it, or I use the pen, which can still just use a light tap.

That is a pretty good case that I have used. I dropped my phone quiete a few times with that and nothing happened to my phone. The only thing is that it doesn't fully cover the front of the phone. Plus it's only about $20.

https://www.t-mobile.com/accessory/samsung-galaxy-note8-protective-standing-cover-black

This is the case that I am currently using. It's a bit pricy at $40 but so far I absolutely love it and especially the stand in the back of the case for when I watch my movies. The only problem I have with this case is that when I drive and want to plug in my wire to my phone to listen to music it doesn't fit because of the cover. Maybe my wire cord tip just is old and not big enough.

Those are the two I would recommend, haven't tried any other cases.

u/pdinc · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I personally think the S-View cases from Samsung are an underrated accessory. They allow you to control media etc without even opening up the phone, and just look pretty sleek in general.

For actual screen protectors, it's a challenge because of the curved screen. I've tried a few, and have been very satisfied with amfilm - they're the most affordable, and if you register immediately you get upto 3 replacements free for damage. They do have a dot matrix pattern and have a rainbow effect under certain lighting conditions, but I havent found either to be a truly big enough hassle.

u/note4tasker · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I got this one. And I loving it, it doesn't bother the screen protector I have on as well :)

u/gwh811 · 0 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

But still say if your looking for best screen protector I would go with Whitestone I have it on my note and love it

u/ThatsMrHacker2U · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

My everyday case is a Caseology Legion with a CardNinja Ultra-slim Self Adhesive Credit Card Wallet on the back. Comes up around the edges to protect it, good grip on the hand. It's a bit thick and with the card wallet it is not 100% compatible with the official Samsung round leather fast charger.

I use a sticky case when I'm in the gym, keeps it firmly attached to the squat rack so I don't accidentally step on it or squash it with a plate. I use the Galaxy Note 8 Case, LONTECT Anti-gravity Selfie Case Magical Nano Sticky Hard Case (Sorry, no link)

For a dressy, thinner case I have the Spigen Liquid Air Armor Galaxy Note 8 Case.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073R6PMGK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Veepsy · 5 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

From all the cases I've tested, i can say that the wet screen protectors are the best. tempered glass the edges aren't as responsive. the regular dry protectors don't really stick to the edges. I got an S8 for my mom and i used an armor suit wet screen protector. it was easy to install. I installed it in my first try and is still holding up on the edges with no issues. you need to install it properly of course. After installing the flat surface, you gotta use a hair dryer (hot air) to have it stick around the edges. The only downside i found is that even with the HD version, the screen protector kind degrades the clear screen resolution from the amazing screen, but not by much. So i will be trying IQshield wet screen protector, since its one of the best, if not the best screen protector manufacturers out there. heres a link https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Friendly-LiQuidSkin-Coverage-Anti-Bubble/dp/B072W8X2SK/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1504099854&sr=1-1&keywords=note+8+screen+protector&refinements=p_89%3AIQShield

u/djrbx · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Get the 360 Camera. You can get 3rd party fast wireless chargers for around $20 USD and the 128GB MicroSD for about $50 USD. So you can make you're own bundle for about $70+tax.

The 360 Camera on the other hand retails for $175+tax.

So in the end, you get more value with the 360 camera than the wireless charger+MicroSD combo.

u/LasVegasLimoDriver · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

These are all ok solutions if you just want screen mirroring. I have one too.... Then I learned about DEX. I picked up this guy and love it:

i think the thick protection case takes away from the phone A LOT!
Try the slim one - shows the beauty behind the phone design and protects it enough.
Put on a screen protector should be solid!

I have had good experiences with them on other products, if it follows the same fate as the S8 (doesn't hold up because tempered glass is a meme on curved edges), then I'll go with a non tempered glass protector down the road unless some really great one comes along.

u/ybysaiah1980 · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I always used a tempered glass screen protector on my Note 2 and Note 4 but decided to forego it on the Note 8 because of the silly curved edges. I use the S-Pen almost exclusively and the bare screen was starting to show some "wear" where I dragged to scroll. Not really scratched but more like some coating had worn off. I decided to try a wet-applied stick-on protector - the Spigen NeoFlex Galaxy Note 8 Screen Protector specifically. I'm very happy with the appearance and performance so far and probably should have done this a while ago.

u/peanuttown · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Too many cases seem to compromise this phones slick and thin look. I also don't drop my phone ever knocks on wood and have never had any screen scratches on any previous Note4 or phones I've had.

This case keeps that amazing stock look, but offers nothing in protection for drops and is actually slippery in the hands. I only use it rarely.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076DSXML7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This was the 1st case I got and I still use it almost every day. It's slim and seems to offer a good deal of protection.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073R7MND3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And this one I'll get in the mail tomorrow. Again, keeping with the slim profile, but should offer a bit more protection than the 1st case I listed, while keeping the slim look and feel of the Note8.

Looks like on the Samsung store on Amazon it's $19.74.

edit: Amazon Warehouse Deals (returned ones) has them at $14.16 and $14.96 too. But yeah looks like those have options to have them sold and shipped by amazon.com as the seller.

u/runnerguy1987 · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I love my Supcase Unicorn Beetle Shield (or whatever it's called) with the included screen protector taken off in favor off a tempered glass screen protector. I've dropped it quite a few times in various surfaces (I'm clumsy, what can I say) and still looks brand new.

Used this since I got the phone late last year. I feel generally "safe" in this case, which I never thought I would with a phone like this that's designed to intentionally be difficult to protect (glass back, curved edges)

The built in screen protector is thick plastic. It doesn't mark up with spen use like other soft plastic screen protectors from makers like Spigen. Screen protector has shown wear (especially with screen off, but it doesn't affect use visually (sometimes touch is wonky though).

Ideally I'd removed built in screen protector and replace with tempered glass directly on screen. But of course there are no options that make sense for our phone.

I've had this since launch. It has a little bit of Raisivity™ so when you rest the phone face-down on a flat surface the screen doesn't touch the surface.

Note, this isn't anywhere near as protective as a rubberised case with a screen protector...but it's enough if you're like me and look after your phones.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074G1W2RC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Specially if you dont want to spend 4 times as much on Whitestone and not to mention the mess it creates. Further there have been threads here and at XDA on how the screen still cracked at the corners even with Whitestone on.

I have been using this one from Phone launch in September, still going strong, no sensitivity issues and excellent customer service. This actually cover just about everything so no corner is exposed and surprisingly still fits well with a case.

One negative is its a smudge hell, but I guess that the case with all glass protectors.

EDIT: Also, another issue is that there is not cutout for front camera and other sensors(except earpiece), after some months of use I am noticing some dust under the front camera, it doesn't seem to affect the camera performance even though I frequently get messages to clean the lens whenever I use it.

u/realrao · 2 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

The pen might be dead. I had intermittent sensitivity issues on the pen that came with my phone as well. If your troubleshooting comes up empty you could buy a replacement S pen on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B074GB37V7?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title

I bought one a few months ago because of low sensitivity which was, I suspect, caused by a loose connection in the pen. I was a little worried about the authenticity but I can confirm that the one that's "sold by Amazon" is legitimate. I've been using it for a few months and it works better than my old s pen. Comes in the official sealed Samsung packaging too. I got it on sale for $22 but it seems to have gone up to $30, which is still discounted from MSRP. Totally worth it though, if you need a replacement

I like this one. It comes with a plastic thing that makes sure you get it aligned properly. I am on my second one now as I dropped my phone and cracked it last week.

u/infiniteloope · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I bought this adapter. Works well and supports DeX mode.

u/dmberger · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I got this case on Amazon; while the metal piece is not in the outside, and is also not included, there's a doctor inside for your standard issue metal plate which allows for it to be on the inside without causing any warping, and the case is a little thinner in that region. That should mean that it is easier to get a magnetic hold on the phone.

u/drexvil · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

I'm not a fan of making the massive Note 8 even bigger, so this case is great as it's slim and light but still has reinforced corners and a slight lip for added protection. It's rubbery so it doesn't slip off your hand. It also works with the White Dome screen protector, my other case would brush up against the tempered glass and mess with it.

u/Firehawk2k2 · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

Got this one for the wife that seems to think it's okay to constantly drop phones.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074G1W2RC
It gives the screen a slightly mirrored finish. touch sensitivity is 99.99% as good as a bare screen.
You will see rainbows and the dot matrix in bright sunlight but it's not too bothersome.

u/quarl0w · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I pre-ordered the Note 8, and wanted to get a UAG case based on previous experience with them being a great blend of minimal and protective. But they weren't ready at the time, so I had to get something in the interim while I waited for them to produce the cases.

I ended up getting a Caseology Parallax because there was a coupon code on this sub that made it like $5. I just got it as a placeholder.

Well, after a week I cancelled my UAG pre-order. And I still use that case today. After 6 months that case still looks new. No scratches, no dings, and the phone is perfect too. It's got a big enough lip to prtoect all sides, but small enough it's not in the way. I haven't even scratched the screen of my phone without a screen protector. It also still works with the wireless charging.

u/Silent_Saint · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

Nope as the adhesive is only on the outside edges not in the middle.

This one is a little on the expencive side but it works because it adds a glue like substance between the phone and screen protector and you dry it with uv light.

Definitely the IQ Shield on Amazon. Smooth, and not too shiny. Easy to install and fits like a glove. My only issue with it is that it's a "soft" screen protector, so if you dig something into it (with a lot of pressure or sharp object) then it kind of smudges the protector. But when that happens it's hardly noticeable. It's even sold on Amazon.

u/meatloafkitten · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote8

I generally dislike the look of most phone cases, but I find modern phones too slippery and too thin, and corners too fragile if dropped even from small heights. Since the Galaxy S3 I've used the flexible "rubbery" cases - I used to go with clear ones, but since I now stick a magnet inside the case for quick car mounting, I've had to go to solid colors. I still avoid bulky cases or anything with giant brand names plastered on them.

Spigen makes quality, reasonably priced cases that meet my needs. I have this one for my Note: https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Liquid-Galaxy-Durable-Design/dp/B073R6PMGK/

u/usnmustanger · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote8

This dude on the Amazon listing for the Note 8 Whitestone Dome TGSP claims the UAG Monarch works just fine with the Dome on his Note 8. Even has a picture of it (well, the case anyways, but why would he lie about it in an Amazon review for the Dome?).

Real easy if the monitor has an hdmi input or a "smart" monitor.

HDMI input is the simplest.

THE NOTE 8 HAS A USB-C CHARGER/CONNECTOR.

THAT ALONE GIVES IT SUPERIORITY OVER BULLSHIT PROPRIETARY $1000+ Hardware.

The usb-c connection to hdmi is not enougj, and the DEX had traditionally been overpriced, although they finally ripped off enough chumps to stop selling at the ridiculous $150 price point they were selling at ( although that could have been due to pressure being applied due to more reasonable CHINESE KNOCKOFF products).

Any who. There is an adapter that can be hit or miss for frills like reading usb drives but works beautifully for not only connecting your phone to any high definition tv. But also CHARGING you phone while at it.

It costs less than $30 back when DEX prices were still ridiculous, but there are some dumb fucks who are currently in charge of the US government who will definietely shift the price point permanently up, so you might as well get it now even or soon 3ven with any slight increases.

EDIT: SIMILAR PRODUCT THAT I AM REFERRING TO THAT IS WORTH IT, BUT USB INPUTS MAY BE UNRELUABLE: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Samsung-Station-Experience-Nintendo/dp/B078W4RXGR

"SMART MONITOR?" LOL Chromecast thrives on not actually putting any material effort towards their display other than halfassed running Netflix, so screen mirroring for Samsung Android products is AWESOME ( and if they start focusing on Pixel phoned then fuck um dead. Guve me something nee China).

I have tried many as well. And I use the exact same case. The issue is if you get edge to edge then they will lift....even the Spigen ones.

So I finally settled on this one from Skinomi. It doesn't go edge to edge and I got it centered so it doesn't lift on me.

I work as a plant engineer in a plant that processes seawater, and I have dropped my Note on the concrete floors a few times, and gotten my phone covered in salt, sand, seawater, grease, and grime with nothing but this case on it for like 6 months now and have no scratches or cracks anywhere on the phone, including the screen. I've even dropped it in the ocean.

If you drop a phone a lot get a burly case that overlaps the front edges around the screen, but I think an actual cover is unnecessary unless you keep a knife in the same pocket as your phone, or something, or drop it with the screen facing down on to a rock, or something that would directly impale the screen.
