Lately, it seems as though Paradox has been putting their games on sale for 75% off. I managed to get EUIII during their Memorial Day sale; Crusader Kings 1+2, Paradox War Chest and Paradox Majesty Franchise during the Amazon MAYhem Sale.

Defenders of Ardania is fun for a while, but it gets old and repetitive after a while; pretty "meh" for a tower defense game.

Majesty 2 is an alright game, but if the first one was on sale I'd recommend that one instead.

(I got the Majesty bundle for Warlock.) edit: Warlock and its DLC are on sale, though not listed on the OP.

King Arthur is a pretty solid game. I didn't get a chance to install King Arthur II yet, so I cannot compare it to the original.

I don't even think the Gettysburg multiplayer servers are even up, so you might as well pass on that one.

(I got the War Chest for Victoria II and Hearts of Iron III.) edit: Hearts of Iron II + III and their DLC are also on sale, though not listed on the OP.

I'd wait for Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition ($7.49). I bought it and I love it, but you need a controller since it's a straightforward port, but also if you're not into first person action RPGs, then maybe Bioshock 1 and 2 ($4.99) or Batman Arkham GOTY Pack ($11.49) for action. Then there's Microsoft 5-Game Arcade/Indie Pack ($9.99) if you want to go casual (or just get Mark of the Ninja ($3.75) from it). Some people like The Storming, Burning, Reflecting, Flaming, Sabotaging Pack ($9.99).

If you like strategy games, I'd either look at the Paradox bundles or wait for X-COM and Civ V Gold because I think they'll be cheaper later this month. Oh, and there's the Sonic Action Pack ($9.99) if you like platformers. I don't myself, but Generations make it a great deal for $10.

I have a Steam Controller and an Xbox 360 controller. My girlfriend and I played though Lego Marvel Superheroes, the Lego Harry Potters and some of Jurassic World with two different controllers. So if you want to mix and match, you're totally able to.

If you have any controllers laying around, see if you can find an adapter for them.

u/qumqam · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

I've bought dozens of games from Amazon over the last year or so and almost all of them have been Steam keys.

So I can't speak to downloading from Amazon, but you may want to look over the deals anyway, you'll get a Steam key, register it and download it from Steam. Often Amazon beats the best Steam price.

For example, I'm eyeing the Sega Fun Pack. $10 for 5 games + DLC and they look like all Steam keys.

u/Willyamm · 1 pointr/GameDeals

A lot of people are saying that they don't make the receivers anymore. I can't attest one way or the other, but you can buy the OFFICIAL controller here with the OFFICIAL wireless receiver.

I bought the wireless receiver a loooooong time ago individually and I love it, although honestly I pretty much use a wired controller so I don't have to fuck with batteries.

I'd absolutely recommend Ground Zeroes, especially if you're a Splinter Cell fan. MGSV's movement as a whole evidently took some pointers from Splinter Cell's movement.

HOWEVER, as a huge Metal Gear fan I would strongly suggest playing the rest of the series first if you haven't already. While MGS4's gameplay was excellent, the plot and story was awfully written and that's probably why it left a bad taste in your mouth.

MGS1 through MGS3 are much better written and while they don't take themselves seriously, they're not silly and ridiculous like MGS4 was. [Get the Legacy Collection] (http://smile.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464310090&sr=8-1&keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy+collection) if you can and play MGS1 through MGS3 first, you won't regret it. Both MGS2 and MGS3 are debated to be the pinnacles of the series. If you don't have a PS3, you can [get the HD Collection] (http://smile.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Xbox-360/dp/B0050SYOOA/ref=sr_1_3_twi_gam_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1464310090&sr=8-3&keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy+collection), but it doesn't have MGS1. If you get the HD Collection, you can emulate MGS1 with ePSXe.

Hope that helps.

u/MyCatEdwin · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

While gmessad's recommendation is great, I would say the Steam Controller is a super solid choice too. If you can wait a bit, GameStop and Amazon have deals on them pretty often. If you have basically any existing PC gamepads you'll be fine while you wait.

If you don't mind used (my controller has been indestructible the year and a half I've had it), Amazon has a used one with Prime for $35 https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS?th=1

u/Suddenlyfoxes · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

Amazon often puts bundles of these games on sale, too, though it doesn't look as if they're there yet this time. If you want to keep an eye on them, though:

Crusader Kings Pack - Crusader Kings Complete, Crusader Kings 2, and most if not all of the pre-Old Gods/Norse CK2 DLC

Paradox War Chest - Achtung Panzer Kharkov 1943, Gettysburg: Armored Warfare, Hearts of Iron III Collection, King Arthur Collection, King Arthur 2, Victoria 2 + A House Divided

Paradox Majesty Bundle - Defenders of Ardania + DLC, Majesty Gold, Majesty 2 + DLC, Warlock: Master of the Arcane + DLC

Paradox Seas Bundle - Commander: Conquest of the Americas + Colonial Navy, East India Company Collection, Naval War: Arctic Circle, Pirates of Black Cove + Origins, Ship Simulator Extremes, Victoria 2 + A House Divided

Plentiful Paradox Package - Crusader Kings 2, Magicka Collection + The Stars Are Left, Sword of the Stars Complete, Sword of the Stars 2 Enhanced, Victoria 2

When these do go on sale, they're typically priced between $15 and $25. No guarantee that they will during this sale, but they have pretty regularly in the past, so they're probably worth watching anyway if you're interested in these games. I'm not a fan of the Seas bundle, but the other four are all great packages. Most of them provide Steam keys.

u/BlamelessVestalsLot · 51 pointsr/GameDeals

DLCs are mostly multiplayer skins and weapons (which might be unlockeable through normal means, not sure), while there is more single player content, it's just one DLC. It's just one tomb and it takes about 2 minutes to solve.

Multiplayer isn't even that great, it just seems something they added because they were forced too. It's not terrible, and there can be joy if you play with a bunch a friends, but it's not well executed.

While Tomb Raider 2013 is honestly one of my favorite games from last gen, I wouldn't recommend the GOTY edition when the base game is cheaper. It's honestly the same experience with a $2 difference, and I don't think $2 is worth spending a bunch of useless DLCs for espescially when the steam sale is coming up.

u/0011110000110011 · 1 pointr/GameDeals

Copying this from an earlier comment, but it belongs here, too.

I was at GameStop and on the clearance shelf I found an one of these for $13. Came with Skyrim and all the DLC plus all the other Elder Scrolls games (discs and steam codes) plus maps for all of 'em. My luck here might've been a one time thing but who knows, couldn't hurt to look.

On GameStop's website it's $21 which is still pretty damn good! Check if a store near you has one.

u/compchrisworks · 26 pointsr/GameDeals

(I approved this one). With the huge number of unauthorized key resellers selling Bioshock Infinite at prices they shouldn't even be able to, I felt that this was an important one for anyone who wanted to get the game at a really great price, from an authorized dealer.

Well, some games support it natively, and that is best. But for other games, XPadder works well for me to map controller buttons to keyboard keys/mouse buttons.

But I rarely have to use XPadder. Although I actually use it when I watch TV shows on my computer while I lay in my bed across the room. I use the 360 controller as a remote control for VLC by mapping XPadder buttons to keyboard shortcut combinations :P

Most games I've used my 360 controller support it natively, such as Dirt2, Batman Arkham Asylum, Sonic Generations, Super Meat Boy, and Assassin's Creed 1 & 2.

But, if you have a wireless controller, you'll need to buy the 360 wireless receiver for PC. Even if you have the USB cable that is normally used to charge it, you will have to get the wireless dongle. The USB cable will not transmit the button signal data or whatever you call it, it will only charge. But the wired controllers work, through their USB cable without needing the receiver. Kinda strange, but understandable that they want to sell you a wireless receiver.

Then go to MS's site and download drivers for it, and it should work.

Firaxis Complete Pack [Online Game Code] w/ EFF Tag -- $19.99

Repost of link since it's back up. Includes:

  • Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gold Edition [Steam Code]
  • Sid Meiers Civilization IV: The Complete Edition [Steam Code]
  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown [Steam Code]

Great price considering the Steam prices list Civ V Gold Edition as $49.99 and XCom as $39.99. I think both had 75% off sales giving them a $12.49 and $9.99 price, respectively. If this is inaccurate, please correct me with proper pricing. This Amazon deal is cheaper and includes Civ IV on top of that.

    Edit: Steam Comparison

u/Chemtox · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

A quick analysis of previous deals tells me that it will last... less than a month, most probably.

As for someone knowing exactly how long, well, I would venture that not even Amazon nor Valve know that, judging by the same data sample. Pretty sure they are using advanced American Economics.

Mark of the Ninja is now on sale for 3.74: http://www.amazon.com/Mark-Ninja-Online-Game-Code/dp/B00AR03OV0/ That games works with the three free games and is one of the best stealth games ever released.

u/jongglr8 · 6 pointsr/GameDeals

Hey guys, I found a combo that beats this deal. Buy the 2K Strategy pack from Amazon for $20. Then, buy the Korea DLC, the Wonders of the World DLC from Steam, and the Civ III Complete from Steam, which should be a total of $3.72.

Congrats; you just bought the collection + Strongholds collection for $23.72 (not including sales tax). (US)

EDIT: My price with the sales tax was $25.43. Got Strongholds collection for $0.43.

u/LaunchpadMacQ · 38 pointsr/GameDeals

Bioshock 1 + 2 is also $4.99 on its own. The triple pack isn't much of a savings from buying B:I and B1+B2.

If you've never played Bioshock 1 or Infinite though (I haven't played 2 yet), do yourself a favor and pick up these games. Although I recognize that $30 is a bit steep for B:I for us cheap asses on game deals, it's an incredible game. And don't let anyone tell you that the gameplay is bad, I reckon those folks are just bad at FPSs because this game has incredibly strong gunplay that recalls older classics where you wouldn't have to aim down the sights to avoid recoil and bullet sprays.

I haven't played the first in awhile, so I actually bought the two pack. Can't give an honest opinion on it other than it's as wonderfully atmospheric as Infinite, if not more so. I've heard Bioshock 2 was more of the same, but the Metacritic isn't bad, so I'll be giving it a spin as well.

u/madn3ss795 · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

So if I want to find a stable version or DE:HR to play, I should look for something like this. right?

u/Tvacgamer · 78 pointsr/GameDeals

FYI Bioshock will be $34.99 today only:

Might be worth a separate post, and price should flip soon.

There's also the 2k strategy pack at $20. It includes Civ V GOTY (where as Civ V in the bundle is not GOTY), Civ IV and the stronghold collection. There are two versions, one where civ 4 and stronghold are drm free, the other where they are on steam (I believe that Civ V can be downloaded either way on both packs).

I bit the bullet at Amazon for the Anthology: http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Anthology-Pc/dp/B00E9I1FPI/

Currently sitting at $21 (plus shipping if you don't have Prime or if your total order isn't over $35). Not the lowest its been these past few days, but it still seems like it's worth it since you get the physical discs, a Steam key to Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim and ALL of the DLC's (as far as I can tell), and a few physical maps.

u/JetlagMk2 · 3 pointsr/GameDeals

I just bought the official wireless controller and receiver a couple days ago for $37. Even at $42 it's a pretty good deal considering the price of the knock-off receivers.

This is what you are looking for. Unfortunately it is not on PC and Konami will probably never make a collection including GZ and TPP. Your best option is emulators at the moment. MGS was ported to PC but only exists in a physical format unless you look real hARRRGHd for it lol.

I'll back up what MrPuffin is saying. I just purchased the Crusader Kings Pack through Amazon for $14.99 and received Steam activation codes for Crusader Kings 1 Complete, Crusader Kings II, and all the Crusader Kings II DLC (except the newest DLC The Old Gods, Hymns To The Old Gods, Norse Portraits, and Norse Unit Pack, which are not included in this bundle). Dark Souls nice and cheap? Yes please! I'll be looking forward to that. :D

u/dougmc · 6 pointsr/GameDeals

Looks like $31.

There's a lot to be said for going this way. If you buy a knockoff dongle (most of what you'll find on Amazon if you just buy the dongle), you may have to force Windows to use the drivers for the "official" version rather than having it do so automatically, for example.

Either way, I can't overstate how convenient the dongle is -- with it, wireless 360 controllers just work in most games and you can use up to four of them if the game supports that. And of course ... no wires.

u/EdenHJCrow · 5 pointsr/GameDeals

You're probably thinking of this collection. The MGS HD collection is the same as the 360, it's got 2, 3, and peace walker.

I was about to purchase this as "The Definitive Experience" sounded more like the PS3 version of Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection with Ground Zeroes + MGS:V and then was let down with it only being 2 games an their dlc.

Little tip for those who live outside US and want Mark Of the Ninja for $3.75 instead of $4.91 (EU) or $4.55 (GB), use Amazon (with coupon "Gooncave" it's $3.19) Use THIS site for reference. Just tried it in EU, steam code was accepted

For those of you interested in the Steam activated version click this.

I was waiting for this, not for the Steamlink, but usually when the Link goes on sale the Steam controller does as well, The controller is $35 now.

Here -. Wireless XBOX controller for windows.. On sale for $43.83. Best Buy sells them ... they don't sell the wired version though - only the wireless one. I just had one - but I returned it got the wired.

I'd try amazon US's page, which seems to have price matched it (though it gave me the preorder DLC when I entered it on mine, so may still be worth going for over the steam version).

Link to US version

u/ChillFactory · 1 pointr/GameDeals

From the link here I see the price at $59.99. I clicked Buy and Download. The Gooncave promotion that I entered then gives me 9 dollars off that price, for a total of $50.99. It looks like it is just for one item.

u/crazindndude · 1 pointr/GameDeals

Hijacking top post to say that Amazon has it for the same price, and you can use GOONCAVE to knock another 15% off. Brings it down to 3.19 before taxes.

US addresses only though.

Note:

Sonic Action Pack - 9.99

is the same price as

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing - 9.99

One might as well buy the former (Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is included in the Sonic Action Pack).

.. also:

Ones cheaper than this, by any chance?

u/rabidstoat · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

The $7.50 price is available through amazon.com. You can purchase it there, and download it via the Steam client -- just make sure you buy the Steam version and not the other DRM'ed version.

u/MetalPlateMage · 1 pointr/GameDeals

That's just the dlc bundle for Stick of Truth, this is the base game.

u/Slo_MTB · 5 pointsr/GameDeals

Make sure to buy this one though:

http://www.amazon.com/2K-Games-41092ategy-Pack-Strategy/dp/B008GW57JS

there are two versions, and one is not steam redeemable. I believe the one EvilSuperNinja linked to is the right one also.

u/TheDarkDays · 3 pointsr/GameDeals

Well, for anyone who wants to complete the collection, Mass Effect 3 is $5.99 on Amazon.com

u/Mr_Enduring · 7 pointsr/GameDeals

If you can wait until they have stock you can choose Amazon.com (currently the 3rd listing, the one with Prime) here, https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B016XBGWAQ/, and it will ship for $15 when they have stock.

Here is a store page link that forces Amazon.com as well https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016XBGWAQ/?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

u/The_PiCow · 79 pointsr/GameDeals

there is already bette deals avalible at amazon, both bioshock one and two for 5$ http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083W649I?tag=ablegamers-20
or both bioshock games AND spec ops the line for 10$ http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091T6FQO?tag=ablegamers-20

u/sickdesperation · 3 pointsr/GameDeals

Really? Which ones? The Amazon bundle has the same amount of DLC...

u/spuffin · 7 pointsr/GameDeals

Keep an eye out for the wireless 360 controller for windows. They come with the adapter in the same package and are usually around $45 but it isn't always apparent in the description that it comes with the adapter. Here's a current amazon link http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004QRKWKQ?pc_redir=1410062947&robot_redir=1

u/thinkforaminute · 1 pointr/GameDeals

According to Amazon it comes with the two most popular DLC's but it's odd they are only doing the Oblivion GOTY and not the GOTY Deluxe with the remaining mods (including the cool fortresses and the infamous horse armor.)

u/diogenesl · 5 pointsr/GameDeals

Amazon have a bundle with XCOM and Civ V (Gold Edition) for $20 if you want: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CPBZDPE/

u/Kerze · 1 pointr/GameDeals

Amazon is price matching it and there is a code that drops it to $10.62! The code is GOONCAVE and works, just picked it up.

u/gotta_ban_them_all · 3 pointsr/GameDeals

basically a PS3 and MSG Legacy Collection get you everything pre-MSGV.

If you want to play Portable Ops (technically canon but not really necessary) you can emulate it on PC with PPSSPP.

u/jgraider · 3 pointsr/GameDeals

Some other Steam-comparable deals:

Metro 2033 for $5

Darksiders for $5

If you got the 20% GMG coupons those are actually cheaper than Steam

On Amazon

Spec Ops The Line for $25

Bioshock Pack for $7.50

Modern Warfare 3 for $30

On CAG, Tony also mentioned that Saints Row III will be on sale on Amazon at some point next week for either $12.50 or $10

u/blaubont · 1 pointr/GameDeals

Not sure why this one was missed, it was labeled as a New Bundle in the long list though: Sega Fun Pack
