Yeah, I don't actually recommend it unless you have a lot of disposable income. Valve was going for "highest quality VR experience available" and not "affordable". If you want a good VR headset on a reasonable budget, you probably want a Rift S($399), a used Vive ($400), or an Odyssey Plus( $349).
Vive and Odyssey plus have a better refresh rate. Vive is the hardest to set up, but has the most robust hand tracking, followed by the Rift S, followed by the Odyssey plus, which have progressively narrower zones of hand tracking. The Odyssey plus does have the nicest screen in terms of resolution of all three, so that's a significant advantage.
Oh, and don't get the Rift S if you have unusually widely or narrowly set eyes. The lack of hardware IPD adjustment really sucks for the far ends of the bell curve there.

Recommended to go with the "Good".
I think this originally appeared in Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar. It only had a short print run, but PDF copies are floating around the web. It's a pretty neat book on the making of HL2.
it ran alright on 360. maybe it's just because I came from the original Xbox and immediately started playing Episode 1 the next day on 360, but it felt really smooth and looked great.
to drag it back to PS3, you can get IDES for $30 with Prime shipping on Amazon. linky
I'll share what I sent him.
> Thank you for reaching out to us - the community. We're sad and frustrated at the lack of news with our favorite franchise. Because of you, we haven't been banging our heads against a brick wall. You've responded to us, to me time and time again. I'm sorry if I've bugged you.
> Obviously, your retirement will stir uncertainty in the Half-Life community. Even I'm a tad worried now; will we ever find out what happens next? Will Valve ever talk to us about the fabled franchise? I fear that with your parting there will no longer be any communication about it. All I hope is that in the end, one day we will all know what on earth happened.
> Gaming is like story telling of the future. We're not sat around campfires anymore, but it's the same principle. A universe created in another's imagination is projected and shared. We invest ourselves in these universes; they exist in all of those that would consume them. Alas, it saddens me to see you leave our campfire.
> What conclusion to the story will the community create for itself I wonder? Writers are so under appreciated these days. That's the problem when you create a universe this compelling I guess. The universe is all people see!
> Do keep writing Marc and all the very best to you :)
He thanked me and denied nothing. Really great guy. I'm considering picking up one of his books, notably the 37th Mandala.
Yes! They’re only about 30 US dollars on Amazon, and it’s a good quality action figure!

I would actually recommend a A4tech XL-750BK.
It´s cheap, good, durable, has a macro button, is pretty configurable and come on, why on earth would you need a DPI higher than 3200 ;)
If the orange button annoys you, just bind it to left click.
I have both his books, Tales from the Loop and Things from the Flood and they're both very nicely printed. There's a relatively short story for each as well that isn't particularly interesting, but definitely fleshes out his world a little more and connects the art all together a little bit.
That's amazing.
You need one of these gravity guns

I dont have a degree is computer science, so parhaps you do know better than me, :-D
However, I was under the impression that SSL 256 had been broken using some obscure MIM attack vector which messed with time codes. Perhaps I have it mixed with another encryption.
But my original point is to say that stating modern encryption is unbreakable is a naive point to make. You will know that almost every level of encryption has at some point had that statement made against it until a new way to crack it appears overnight.
I read a great book which you might want to read: The Code Book by Simon Singh Linky!

About $540 USD, cheaper 2nd hand headsets around as well.
You might. In my situation, I use this bad boy to wirelessly use my 360 controller. It works pretty well. I believe you have to install some drivers, but it's not that difficult.
Here is a Link to the figure but you cant really buy it from here. I found it in an FYE a year or two ago for like $20
UK prices seem to be around £60 - £150 ($90 - $225), where the highest going price was for a sealed copy.
Might be more results in the US. Hop onto eBay, go to the advanced search, and tick the "completed listings" box as part of your search.
Edit: on Amazon US, the sensible used ones are going for betwen $70 and $190, depending on condition. That doesn't necessarily mean they're actually getting sold at those prices, of course.
Huh never heard of that demo, it sounds interesting though. http://www.amazon.com/Sierra-Half-Life-Generation/dp/B0008MFCC6 I assume this is what you're talking about.
Have you tried Amazon? Make sure it comes with the CD Key.
You can also enter the CD key on Steam and it will unlock all of the GLDSRC engine games.
I got this book for 50p from a second hand book and electronics store (it had one page torn out with PSP and PS3

Is this it, I'm t0m_serv0's wife I wanna get this for him for a gift...
It was the Half-Life Anthology pack, after a little digging I found it on Amazon(I think). But you know you can buy the same thing on Steam right? You just won't get the fancy box.
uh.....guys, it's over $500.
Anthology is a collection on steam: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/40/
before that it was a physical compilation pack, that is available on Amazon

The only place that seems to have them left is Amazon, but the price isn't that great :(
seriously read this its all about one guy replying to such people http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1841589195
Raising the bar is a book filled with concept art. Unfortunately, its pretty hard to find a new copy, unless you are willing to spend $100+ dollars. Used ones are still viable at $50+/-.
As far as I know, no books exist based on the game.
Samsung Odyssey+ $239

There are cheaper WMR headsets but they aren't as good
You can get a decent VR HMD for around 250-300 dollars right now used. VR isn't super expensive like it was 3 years ago.
