A (sort of) comprehensive guide on the most popular hyper x headsets

ALPHA
I have alpha and it is good but I had to buy brainwavz hm5 pleather pads because my ears touched the drivers. This is relatively expensive (22.5 us). I also wanted surround, so I got the dongle for the revolver s but it was very staticky so I returned it. Other than that, now the stereo is good, with good clarity because of the dual chamber driver, although you might hear static unless you put it to studio quality in Windows.
They also only come in black and red, and the cable twists up a lot, so I twist tied down the part of it I don't use.

REVOLVER (S)
From what I heard, there is more bass on the revolver and revolver s but the headband causes ambient sound absorbtion issues, and the s has surround but again, for me the dongle didn't work, so I'm not sure for you.

(2)
My friend has the cloud 2 and he said he gets static with the dongle too, but aside from that, they are basically the alpha but more comfortable without replacement pads, surround sound, extra velour pads in the box, a carrying case and worse sound quality and mic quality then the alpha. These come in black and red, and gunmetal.

(ORIGINAL)
The original clouds I don't know much about, but I'm pretty sure they are the same as the cloud 2 without the replacement pads and worse mic and sound quality. Black and red and black and white colors as well

(FLIGHTS)
The flights from what I've heard are similar to the alpha, with the same comfort issue (still compatible with brainwavz hm5 pads), wireless, but with some permanent static, because they are wireless a mute on the side of the headphones and good battery life.

(STINGERS)
The stingers are the best headset for a budget and are basically cloud 1s but with worse everything (build quality, sound and mic) and cost 50 usd.

(OTHER MODELS)
Other than that, I don't know anything about the cloud core or the cloud x (specifically for Xbox).

(MY RECOMMENDATION)
If you have the money to spend, (122.5 usd plus tax) I recommend the cloud alpha, the brainwavz hm5 pleather/memory foam pads, and in windows, changing the advanced audio settings to 48 khz studio mode, but take this with a grain of salt.

(REPLACEMENT BRAINWAVZ HM5 PADS)
For reference, the replacement pads all take a few minutes to stretch on to the alphas and flights

PLEATHER
Brainwavz hm5 pleather/memory foam link (more comfortable, smaller soundstage then velour, same sound quality as vanilla pads)

https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Memory-Replacements-Earpads-Headphones/dp/B00MFDT894?th=1

VELOUR
Brainwavz hm5 velour pads (better soundstage, less comfortable then pleather/memory foam pads), also a dust magnet

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=sspa_mw_detail_1?psc=1

HYBRID
Brainwavz hm5 hybrid pads (not recommended, but in between velour and pleather. It is better to stick with one or the other, this one isn't very good

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J53KM32/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?psc=1

OTHER
there is also a sheepskin model, but I don't know if it will stretch well to fit or have sound differences.
Also the angled and circular hm5 pads will not fit, so don't get those.

Good luck with the purchase.
Sorry my formatting sucks I'm on mobile.

EDIT: While I was typing this, the other guy described the sound of the alphas, 1s and 2s good, so read that post as well.

Thanks for sharing such a detailed step-by-step guide for everyone to see, u/jwilson0199 :D !

u/LordDaniel09, it's not really hard, but it does require some patients. Please be aware that doing any modification like this will void the warranty (in case you still have one). As for headbands, these seem to be a good fit by looking at them, but because we haven't personally tested them, take this suggestion with a grain of salt ;) . Also, these are only good if your headband cushion is ripped, and you want to cover it up for cosmetic reasons haha.

u/EpicSombreroMan · 1 pointr/HyperX

This case came with my Alphas when I bought them from Best Buy. They fit, just make sure to take the mic and cable out for the best fit before you zip them away.

u/peebeearr · 2 pointsr/HyperX

I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Replacement-Memory-Foam-Earpads/dp/B00MFDT894. They're a bit annoying to initially put on the headphones, but I assure you they do fit, and are waaaay more comfortable.

If you end up using these, I can also give you some EQ settings that make them sound significantly better (in my opinion).

u/ItsFoxBit · 2 pointsr/HyperX

Yes, you can contact customer support for thicker pads or buy these because they are pretty good: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDT894/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought these pads recently and not only do they feel good but they actually make the headset sound better since it gives them a bigger soundstage

u/SchwizzelKick66 · 1 pointr/HyperX

Have to agree. I prefer the pbt keycaps to the stock abs caps , but I would also rather have a solid color vs pudding. The puddings are a little too aggressive with the lighting for me.

Solid black or solid white would be great. They did start selling white pudding caps, check those out if you haven't.

u/Jonners_90 · 1 pointr/HyperX

The controller is fine for mic input (you need to use one half of the included splitter cable) but yeah, the Alphas sound could use a bit of a boost.

Try the Syba DAC/amp here, it's a good starting point: (use the U.S site if you need to)

u/Cheaterfield · 3 pointsr/HyperX

Was curious searching some new keyboards and i've found out that here in Argentina we are abble already to buy this new HyperX Alloy Origin Core, which is weird since there are no reviews or anything on youtube,

So i'm posting here to let you guys know that there's already a TKL version from their popular Alloy keyboard, something that we were asking since a year!

Here's a link from Amazon for the curious too https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Alloy-Origins-Core-Customization/dp/B07YMHGP86

u/TheBear516 · 1 pointr/HyperX

BrainWavz on Amazon has a ton of great replacement ear pads that fit the Hyper X cloud flights. I would suggest something like these that are a hybrid of velour and pleather. They’re breathable but also retain most of the bass response.

u/RumbaChuck · 1 pointr/HyperX

Yes they are replaceable. Haven't tried these myself but seen multiple people recommend them. Also, pressing the power button cycles the different light configs if you have the updated firmware.

u/dstlny_97 · 2 pointsr/HyperX

Slightly yes. I had the Cloud 2's before my Alpha. You can get deeper from HypeeX if you request them, or you can get even deeper through Ebay for like £20 - these

u/captaindeeeez · 1 pointr/HyperX

I bought mine off of Amazon and it appears that they are still at the same price.

https://www.amazon.ca/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00SAYCXWG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1500911788&sr=8-1&keywords=hyperx+cloud+2

Hope this helps.

EDIT: If you want to buy local and there is a Canada Computers near you, they also have them for $109.

u/TrueShimada · 1 pointr/HyperX

I Have the same problem in the same headset. I use it on PC whenever I'm playing music or anything players on discord hear it. It's so annoying. Then I bought the 7.1 Virtual sound card (HX-USCCPSS-BK) and I still have the same problem. I need to know how to fix it. I've tried every solution and none of them worked. one of them was to enable noise cancellation it worked but my mic sounded like crap. So I need another solution please.

Brainwavz Replacement Memory Foam Earpads - Suitable For Many Other Large Over The Ear Headphones - AKG, HifiMan, ATH, Philips, Fostex https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDT894?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I strongly recommend these replacement ear pads

u/senorroboto · 1 pointr/HyperX

I'll update the main post too but I ended up buying the knit headband cover that /u/Axersia recommended in gray.

I would recommend the large size as a replacement though. The medium fits but it has a mild busting-at-the-seams look.

u/teddybear60 · 2 pointsr/HyperX

Looks like it's $69.99 on Amazon

Its the Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 (https://www.amazon.de/M5A78L-M-USB3-Mainboard-Sockel-Speicher/dp/B0054U7HIO), should be a pretty old one. I already tried to adjust things at the windows setting, didnt really worked for me. So its: single 4 pole -> two separat jacks -> motherboard jacks

u/handsomehawke · 1 pointr/HyperX

I don’t have the revolver s headphones but I have the cloud mix’s and I had the same problem. I bought these Brainwavz Ear Pads and they’ve been working great
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDT894/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nUeKDbS4MZMYZ

u/-MadDogg- · 1 pointr/HyperX

I also bought the brainwavz ear pads. I got the HM5 velour pads:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFDX4YO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They take a little bit of effort to get on, but its totally worth it in my opinion. They are mad comfortable.

u/fiyawerx · 1 pointr/HyperX

I was just looking for the same thing, although it seems like the input on mine is going, lots of static whenever it wiggles. Was thinking I need a new headset but it's most likely just the box/cable. Just found it on amazon a bit ago - https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Virtual-Surround-HX-USCCPSS-BK/dp/B077VLKW3P

u/doctaj5 · 3 pointsr/HyperX

You can try replacing the ear cup pads with something like this

Brainwavz Hybrid Memory Foam Earpad - Black PU/Velour - Suitable for Large Over The Ear Headphones - AKG, HifiMan, ATH, Philips, Fostex https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZGGG3KY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ezopDbSJMT9MR

Or you can try the one with the cloud 2. I have that one on the way for my headphones I use.

Are these the earcups you were referring to? https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Velor-Memory-Replacements-Earpads/dp/B00MFDX4YO/ref=cm_wl_huc_item

They match all the dimensions, i'm interested in trying them for the cloud revolver S, but if you are saying they won't fit because you can't fasten them onto the headset then that's super disappointing.

or you can show me which one you're using

> amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-Entertainment/dp/B07FFK13RY

Wonder if I plug the USB cable into the controller and power the controller that way instead of battery if the Xbox would be able to drive the Alphas?

u/chocolateraiin · 1 pointr/HyperX

so are you saying to choose alphas but get replacement earpads? specifically these ones?

u/jmaubin · 1 pointr/HyperX

You can just buy this https://www.amazon.ca/V-MODA-BoomPro-Microphone-Gaming-Communication/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ and use it instead of the supplied cable, basically it's a stereo cable with a boom mic mounted on it

u/SmallTimeHVAC · 1 pointr/HyperX

Try a USB sound card. They are all the same price, each has slightly different features. This will get rid of the echo problem for sure.

HX-USCCPSS-BK - ships with Cloud II, more basic, seems to work fine for me.

HXS-HSDG3 - ships with Revolver S, has presets, you configure the speakers as 7.1 speakers.

HX-USCCAMSS-BK - standalone unit, not sold with any other product. This presents 2 devices to windows, hyperx game (speakers), hyperx chat input, hyperx chat output. No presets.

Or try this:

I have had my Cloud Alphas for 4 months now and had those ear pains at the beginning and was thinking of buying ear pads, but I didn't. Well now past month my ears started hurting again and when sleeping if I moved my head my ears hurt so much that I couldn't sleep. I looked in mirror and I had red ares on both ears and some of my skin was ripping. Then I went and bought these Brainwavz pads. Shipping was going to take 2 weeks so I read some tips and placed tissue paper under those old pads and that helped a little.

Well I received new pads today but oh man it was pain in the ass to try install them. It took me 40-60 mins to put them on and I took 2 breaks. The way that worked for me was that I placed my finger in the earpad and try to push that lip in the gap, well when you have done 50% of that you need to hold the other half steady and pull HARD on the other end to get that lip in there. I was scared that my headphones would break or the earpad to rip.

In the end all went ok and I'm using most comfortable headphones ever! And I love the sound of Cloud Alphas, that's why I didn't buy new ones. I had Cloud II for 2 years and I can say that the sound difference is immense and Alphas has better bass + with these earpads the bass is boosted a bit.

u/FlaMax_404 · 1 pointr/HyperX

Hey, I'm not sure if that will be the fix of your problem but I think that getting a HyperX soundcard should be the fix of your problem since it worked just fine on the Xbox one it could be a problem with the on board audio on your PC.

Here's a link the USB Soundcard : https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Virtual-Surround-HX-USCCPSS-BK/dp/B077VLKW3P
