Leviathan by Scott Westerfield and Keith Thompson^(don't pay attention to the covers with real people, they're shitty and inaccurate)
It's classified under "young adult fiction," but I think anyone can appreciate it, if anything for the amazing art.
I've never read a book so imaginative, I can honestly say it inspired me significantly in my own creative work.
Pretty good story with space garbage collection leading to first contact - Existence by David Brin
It's this one. I've had it for years and it's really amazing. Has almost all of the vehicles and spaceships from the movies.
I don't blame them. It's my favorite sci fi book (so far)
Read it!
I mean, you can say it never makes sense, but the product I linked to has 3.5 stars and its page says that "Chest protectors for girls and women are required in all U.S. competitions" (no idea if that's true). Two other suggested models for boxing and fencing show up as links and have average reviews of >3.5 stars. Clearly these are real products that some people feel make sense.
I thought that book was gonna suck then was very pleasantly surprised. This is actually the bottom of the front cover.

I recommend this book if that's the case. https://www.amazon.com/Movie-Art-Syd-Mead-Futurist/dp/1785651188
I've been following this guy's stuff for a while. I totally love it.
I can't always figure out why but I always get a weird sense of dread from the world he's creating in his "tales from the loop" series. Even when it's just kids playing in the snow there's a sense of something ominous. Like something is about to happen
Here!
The martian
The HMS Leviathan is the titular craft from the series of books that that begins with Leviathan. It's a bio/dieselpunk alt history WWI series where the Central Powers (Clankers) have created diesel powered giant robots, and the Entente Powers (Darwinists) have responded by using genetic engineering to create living war machines. The Leviathan itself is a living zeppelin, and swims through the sky using internal bladders filled with self-generated hydrogen.
Edit because I'm a dumb-butt.
Cool vehicle design!
