It can be really useful for any lights that come on. If you see yourself fiddling with your own cars in the future and have a bit of disposable income you could get a nice high quality one like this which will do everything you need, or you could get something as simple as this one to take care of most of your needs. Autel is a good brand, I also have a bluetooth one that connects to any app on your phone (or computer) which can also be convenient, and depending on the app can be useful giving you real-time data.
Note that for this issue specifically, you'd need the former one I linked as the airbag system (SRS) and ABS system run on a specialiszed part of the system and can't be read by normal code readers. So if you just figure you won't do much you could get the $15 reader for quick troubleshooting and take it to Autozone like you're doing for when big things come up.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XRXTX32/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are them, about 10x brighter than the stock halogens. I haven't wired up the DRL's yet but the halos are on when the low beams are it looks really nice. Super easy to install as well, took me like 20 minutes to get em in. https://i.imgur.com/Ue4DlWe.jpg
I have these ones (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00WM3WDXA/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and they're great.
Super bright and clear as day. Everyone that rides with me is always impressed.

Yeah, I have the Sunpie head lights and fogs. There have been some mixed reviews on them, but they have been really good so far over the last month, requires some splicing, and the high beams flicker a bit, but overall they've been great for the price.
SUNPIE LED Headlights Bulb with Halo Angel Eye Ring & DRL & Turn Signal Lights for Jeep Wrangler JK LJ CJ Hummer H1 H2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WM3WDXA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Seu6xb5FJ43ZW
Yep! It works beautifully with all the stations and HD Radio here in flatland Texas. Here’s the link Rydonair Antenna Compatible with Jeep Wrangler JK JKU JL JLU Rubicon Sahara (2007-2019) | 13 inches Flexible Rubber Antenna Replacement | Designed for Optimized FM/AM Reception https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BDFQDVJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8OB0Cb0BX8PHT
Good tip.
OP this is the cheap one I have:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005NLQAHS/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_a9TIDbHBPRDM3
Pair that with torque pro lite and you'll be able to get all the diagnostic data off the bus.
I recommend everyone have one on hand. My 2017 has thrown a few CELs since I bought it. Very useful tool to get started on fixes.
Very nice, looks just like the one I put on mine. Works like a champ for me, even out in the middle of the forest.
Go the easy route and order some Kickers off Amazon. $60 for the set, plug and play, and sound great. Kicker Speakers
Yea it's a handheld. Midland 75. Opted for his one because I didn't have to run power. Also I can take the unit off the cable in the jeep and plop on a battery pack and stubby antenna (all included) and use it outside the jeep if needed. But the install was straight forward for me. Put mounting hardware together, place between spare carrier and gate, run coax through gate along the rollcage under the glove box. Hook up the radio and plug into cigarette lighter. Pretty simple. Just takes time. Fishing the wire through the gate took the longest, but wasn't difficult. Followed this guide, but using different radio, so no need for power splice.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UTQUAK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (still waiting on this to arrive, but antenna works without it.
Also be aware that you should get the antenna tuned. You can buy the meter and do yourself or find someone with it. Locally cost me $20 and about 10min of my day.
Hope this helps you with your install.
This is the top I bought.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031WGQBQ
The best part about this top is that it can easily turn into a bikini top. You can store the windows in the actual top so if you were away from home you could easily put the windows back up. At most it has taken me 15 minutes to take it off, 20 to put it back on. Now I put it up and take it down in under 10 mins.
I can't really tell you about the road noise because I can only compare to the hard top. Personally, I don't think it sounds too bad on the highway, average Jeep noise. And insulation is awesome. As I mentioned, when it rained, I experienced no leaks. Now, I've only had the top for a month now so I'm not sure about longevity and how it does in the winter. But so far I have no complaints.
Eh, some cheap ass chrome LED bulbs I got off Amazon for like 50 bucks. I just wrapped them with window tint because I kept getting bright lighted since they weren't aimed worth a shit.
I'd highly recommend these instead, DOT approved and everything:
2017 New design 5''x7'' 6''x7'' Rectangle Osram High Low Beam Led Headlights for Jeep Wrangler YJ Cherokee XJ H6054 H5054 H6054LL 69822 6052 6053 with Angel Eyes DRL (Black Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRXTX32/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_t9hTzb7V5CAHG
I have them in an unopened box because I barely drive my jeep at night anyways. But, they're plug and play, and ready for whenever my lazy ass decides to install them. Lol
Nice job!
I use Back on Black on my fender flares, and it works great. I have to do it once a year in the spring.
Used this from Bestop on my two door and loved it. Never had a problem with water getting in, you just have to be careful taking it off if water pooled on the top.
This is the model: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JXS3BXI
I love it. It was easy to install and it's easy to operate. I haven't had to use it in the few weeks since I've had it... I'll let you know if I have a failure.
I got these, they aren’t the best headlights out there but they’re a HUGE upgrade over my stock ones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRXTX32/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_15HSBbF72H0C3
I'm no expert, but I have this one https://www.amazon.com/Smittybilt-97495-XRC-Winch-Capacity/dp/B00JXS3BXI.
I love it. Hook up was a breeze and I've used it once and it worked like a dream. I bought mine from Amazon and had no problem. You could always opt for the synthetic line on the Smittybilt one too.
Most of what you'd see in that price range is no-name Chinese steel bumpers such as EAutoGrills(EAG), Restyling Factory, etc. There's a ton of them on Amazon or Ebay. I have no particular complaints about them; the welds aren't the cleanest but they're typically as beefy as you'd want and hit the functionality for value mark.
You mentioned no preference on style, but I think you should make the decision to either protect the fenders or leave the open wheel look. Narrow it down from there.
Note that a steel bumper will add 55-80 pounds forward of your wheels, and a steel cable winch another 80 pounds. All that weight will definitely cause the front end to sag. A couple of pucks from a leveling kit helps, but the real fix for that is upgraded springs. Keep those in mind if you're thinking about the total price of a steel bumper and winch.
I would replace them, it's easy, you can do it in your driveway, you can get the socket you need at an autoparts store for $5. Then you KNOW you're not having a legit issue. My CEL comes on from time to time complaining about o2 slow response or heater issues I use torque on my android and this blue tooth odb2 reader and reset the CEL, if it comes back, then I look into it. I make sure none of the wires on the sensor are broken or have their insulation rubbed off, make sure they haven't come loose and that they are in fact, plugged in :)
Also, when you do replace, use NTK not bosch! The bosch are known to go out early and the NTKs are same as OEM
you can find them here at rock auto online
These have been working well on my wife's JK, just have to make sure to really tighten the quick release knob so they don't fold on the freeway - Rugged Ridge 11025.12 Black Rectangular Quick Release Mirrors - Pair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GRHRTEU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_cTk4wbD0Z02YW
It's a cheapie from Amazon, seems pretty sturdy tough and looks cool. Also the fog lights came out of the old bumper, they just bolt right into the back of this one.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SKGHL6W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I felt that most mirror options specifically made for Jeeps were overpriced or heard they don't work too well.
So I found this on 4x4xplor.com.
Parts needed:
It's pretty simple and works great. Just bend the arms, put the bolts and washers through, and put it on your Jeep. I did have to make the holes for the bolt a little bigger which was not mentioned.
I've gone up to 70mph and they have not moved. They will bob up and down when going over bumps though, but it's not bad.
I just put these in mine and they are night and day better than stock:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SUO5QS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They're plug and play so no extra wiring or anything of that nature.
These are the pair I picked up. I’m going to run them for a couple of days and see how well I/on coming traffic like them.
LX-LIGHT 7'' Round Black Cree LED Headlight High Low Beam for Jeep Wrangler JK TJ LJ CJ Hummber H1 H2 (Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B376YOE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_LLy1AbQ1CKTCB
Thanks for the great advice, I like the Firestik antenna in red but still not sure about where to mount it. I'm still running the stock back bumper with a Genright tire carrier (basket style) so I need to hit the forums to see where others have mounted theirs.
As for CB's what do you think of this one? I like that it can be portable if needed? http://www.amazon.com/Midland-75-822-Channel-CB-Way-Radio/dp/B00000K2YR/ref=pd_cp_e_0
They're angel eye lights that I honestly bought off of Amazon. I love them to death: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XRXTX32/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_gifNAbN46TC7F
Big fan of these lights:
7" LED Headlights Bulb with White Halo Angel Eye Ring DRL & Amber Turn Signal Lights for Jeep Wrangler JK LJ CJ Hummer H1 H2
I rolled the dice and went the cheap route and I couldn't be happier.
They are bright as hell, one drawback is that the LEDs are not hot enough to melt heavy/wet snow. If you are driving in harsh conditions for a longer period of time at night, you may have to get out and wipe the headlights off. This will happen with most LED headlights that don't have lense heaters.
This is the reason I keep the halogens in the IPF fogs, just in case i need the light and I cant get out of the cab.
The customer service from the Amazon seller is excellent. I had a busted seal on one of the lights (Condensation on the inside after power washing) and I sent them a picture and they sent me a new set of headlights in 2 days for free. No problems so far with these new lights. The JW Speaker Headlights are $500+, these are $129. Some people say that you pay for what you get, and that true most of the time, but in my experience these lights are a bargain.
AntennaX 13 inch. It works fine I think, but I barely use the radio, it was more of an aesthetic choice haha. You'll definitely lose some reception capability. It's cheap, you can always try it and if it's not good enough just put the factory one back on.
I've heard this product does well with restoring the fenders
http://www.amazon.com/Mothers-06108-Back---Black-Trim/dp/B0002U1TXK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367791083&sr=8-1&keywords=back+to+black+in+auto
Looks pretty darn close to my E-Autogrilles 51-0357.
Buy yourself a bunch of these to throw on around the rack.
I've got em on my light bar and they're pretty bitching.
Stubby Antenna
Black Jeep letters to replace the silver ones on the grill
Mopar Floor Mats
Grab handles Get two sets, one for front and one for back.
Locking lug nuts
Jeep shirts
Hope this helps!
What model/year Jeep do you have? Do you want a “full size” CB or can you do something a little lighter?
I leave my doors off a lot, so I went with a plug n play setup that will allow me to pull it off or lock it up every time I don’t use it. I have this Midland CB hooked up to a 3ft Firestik and have had no issues with it.
Amazon is loaded with them; for example - these are $90 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B376YOE/ref=psdc_318323011_t2_B07HPGMZ6N and I have seen lights as lows as $60 and much much higher. Just make sure they either have an anti flicker built in or if you need to order them separately. Either way nice jeep!
I got the Bestop emergency cover, with door flaps because I leave my doors off most of the time. Takes only a couple minutes to put up, but you can't drive with it. Good in a pinch or for over night if you don't have a garage.
Edit: link On Amazon
These JEEP WRANGLER JK KICKER SPEAKER UPGRADE https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004SUO5QS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_OQwBwb56MGN5T they are plug and play with no need for an adapter.
$120 on amazon
Everything for a Jeep is expensive lol.
DOT Approved: http://www.amazon.com/Lantsun%C2%AE-Headlight-Signal-Wrangler-022022/dp/B00VV085WI?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
Bought mine on AMZN- BOLT 7028648 Hi-Lift Jack Mount for Jeep Wrangler (Black Mount for Driver Side, J-Mount). During the installation, you can fit your Jeep's key to the lock.
I've got a 2011 wk2 that's had more than its share of problems and this thing was well worth the $16.
But yeah, with the factory warranty you won't pay a penny to have whatever the problem is fixed.
09 rubi ! I have had it for just a few weeks now but its my 3rd wrangler. I keep coming back to them.
The mirror is 8 dollars from O'reiley auto parts, Just take the bottom bracket as shown the pic below and bend it to a 45 degree angle, buy a 5/16 bolt and run that through the door hinge and bolt it to the mirror bracket on the side you bent. Take off that rubber clamp shown in the picture. I will post a how to album if people would need.
Total cost - 9 bucks.. I payed so much more for the same thing from olympic on my old jeep.
(edit for spelling)
( here is a amazon link http://www.amazon.com/Fit-System-CL062E-Clamp--Mirror/dp/B001A0SGBY/ref=sr_1_15?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1373602404&sr=1-15&keywords=jeep+mirror
I'm running this on mine. I did have to grind about a 1/4" channel in the bracket for the lip on the windshield frame as well as elongate both holes by about 1/8" to get it to fit, though.
It vibrates a bit and has a bit of a whistle above 40mph, but I can't hear the whistle once I get above 50 anyway.
If you live anywhere that it is hot or sunny, gotta start with tinting the front windows and windshield. 20% to match the factory, llumar air 80 on the front. Or if you don't want darker windows, you could do that air 80 on all the windows. Cuts out UV light so that it doesn't enter and get trapped in the vehicle. I noticed at least 30 degree difference with the windshield and 25% on all the windows (I had no tint). Also I imagine it'll keep the interior of my jeep from wearing due to the sun since I park outside all the time.
also get a stubby antenna like this
i'd also consider some rear storage solution to hold stuff like recovery straps, flashlight, first aid, whatever. The 4-doors have more options for that
I have those mirrors as well:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GRHRTEU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Got these on Amazon. They jwspeaker knock offs but they're pretty damn goodAmazon link.
I'd spend the extra $100 and take my chances on a SmittyBilt
Its a rampage frameless top. http://www.amazon.com/Rampage-109535-Trail-Top-Frameless/dp/B0031WGQBQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377489643&sr=8-1&keywords=rampage+top
I picked them up off of amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XRXTX32/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I found one on Amazon (this one specifically), and I'm probably going to get it for my XJ.
I got this one from Amazon last week. Haven’t seen a reception difference. $20
I purchased these ones after someone else on this sub recommended them. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01B376YOE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1524147376&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=lx+cree+headlight&psc=1
They do make a huge difference, but I only drove for a few seconds last night to test the alignment (still gotta fix that today.)
They're from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VV085WI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_VNI2wb8BBMKRG I'm not sure if that link will work. I'm on mobile. But the purpose of the wire is to keep the halo rings on when the key is on... Day time running lights basically.

This one?
Did you have any sort of headwind? If your coolant gauge was normal than I would doubt it was really an engine issue, and cause you have a manual we can rule out transmission fluid breakdown as well.
If you want to get precise measurements of your coolant temps, you can use a bluetooth obd2 coupled with your cell phone to get real time data.

These Headlights are surprisingly good for the price I Also Wired the Halo LED to a fuse that turned on when the Key is On/Running the Jeep. You'll have to adjust your headlights after install but there's a little t15 screw that allows you to do that (Left for lower, right for Higher, on my 2015 Sahara I can access this screw without taking the Grille off)
Here are some links for the product in the above comment for different countries:

I have the same 2015 unlimited sport and the speakers were pretty bad.
I have this amp mounted under the driver dash to the left of the brake pedal. There is a little cross bar. I fabricated a bracket out of an old steel computer case and some rivets.
4x of the Kicker 77KICK10. Those are a direct fit part and improve the quality by far even without the amp
4x of these 3.5" speakers to replace the stock paper crap.
After replacing all of these, this sounds great for me. I also have a 10" sub that runs off the same amp in the back that I can remove at any time when I choose to take my hard top off. I just googled some Jeep speaker replacement and managed to do it all myself.
This is plenty loud so that if I had the top off and going down the highway I would have no problem hearing anything, no crackling or distortion. let me know if you have any particular questions
It's an OBDII port. You can plug one of these in to read Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
which hi-lift jack mount do you have, and what do you think of it? i am looking at the BOLT jack mount, since it locks with the ignition key.. amazon link
EDIT: should add, I currently have the hood mount, but it gets in the way of my windshield washer jets, which is a bummer. the AEV rear bumper and tire carrier are on the longer term list but i want something short term...
Rampage Frameless, and you get a bikini/safari out of it, and no stupid frames to deal with. also in the $400 range.
Quadratec
and even cheaper on Amazon
Dont forget to buy the header.
I bought some very similar because the previous owner drilled holes in the factory lights in a failed attempt at installing HID bulbs. Link below:
