It works great with one note! I ended up buying the Lenovo Active Pen. Its so smooth on the laptop and works wonderful for taking notes and if you like to draw, even better. Its a great buy for its price too, and its guaranteed to work with the flex 5! Here is the link below:

Or SATA HDD, but yeah, haha, go with SSD if at all possible.

Example, this Samsung, look for a little better price ideally.

A screen protector is nice if you want to diffuse reflections. Since I'm so bad at applying screen protectors I didn't even bother trying with such a huge display. Photodon makes some nice ones with a little texture to make the pen friction more like pen-on-paper. If you have the 4K display but still diffused reflections you better get the MXH or things might get too blurry.

Since I don't have a screen protector I regularly clean the glass with a microfiber cloth.

No case but my travel bag is lined with fuzzy fabric that's supposed to protect the device.

I would avoid that particular model/config due to its low-resolution and poor quality display (1366x768 which won't let you fit much onscreen; grayish blacks and poor vertical viewing angles). Getting a decent display will likely affect how nice your computer is to use, more than the differences between most other specs, and at this budget it's really easy to avoid poor displays.

For a direct alternative, I would do this:

Never heard of a W series 460s.

If its like a W530s, or one of the work station models then you might be able to use something like this.

A few things to note,

  • Lenovo laptops don't always charge off third party units like this.

  • This will not supply enough power under full load. (provides 3A, your laptop probably expects 6-7A+)

  • They might not let something like this on a plane.

I have a Flex 5, hardware wise for accessories they are almost identical from what I have been reading.

If you want an active stylus, this one works just fine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AZC3HF2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think the "upgraded" model also works on the Flex 6, but I don't do any type of graphic design, I can get by with the regular model personally, I mostly use it for note taking and drawing simple things.

Keyboards/screen protectors I'm curious about too, I have not found any decent ones yet.

I use this X-stand from amazon. Really anything will work though that lifts the back up an inch or two. I use this on top of a little lap desk though and it makes for the perfect couch gaming combo.

That's the one I got for my new Flex 14
Works perfectly

umm. its complicated. Short answer is no.

the laptop jack is a 4 ring headset jack, that's different from a mic jack.

It's designed for headphones with mics built in, and also simple headphones. It will not work with microphones by default.

In some laptops you can change a setting to make it work, while in others you just can't.

I don't know what the deal with the 720 is.

Assuming you can't change a setting, alternatives are USB sound card, which can be pretty cheap and simple like this:

Or you can buy an adapter like this that fixes the wiring: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-headsets-separate-headphone-microphone/dp/B004SP0WAQ

Most hardware stores should have either option, given how last minute your situation is.

I have the Targus Chill Mat for a different laptop, and really like it.

u/stcg · 1 pointr/Lenovo

I found these on amazon. I am gonna give it a try in a week or two.

I just bought the cheapest one with the highest ratings. Here is a link

Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim Ultra-Slim Laptop Cooling Pad with 160mm Fan (R9-NBC-XSLI-GP) by Cooler Master http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005C31HC0/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_pw95tb1GPJ5D2

My mistake it is only a 160mm fan but it works wonders. It's solidly made but it is mostly plastic so be careful with it.

It works via usb so just plug it into one of the usb slots on your laptop.

Also if you can afford, can you try MAXOAK Laptop Power Bank 185Wh/50000mAh(Max.130W) if this will charge the laptop in sleep mode.

u/starfishbzdf · 5 pointsr/Lenovo

If you get a USD to SATA adapter you can clone/transfer files directly from the HDD to SSD.

u/bagaudin · 1 pointr/Lenovo

Can you tell what exact converter it was, e.g. StarTech?

Also, did it detect the drive if plugged inside the laptop?

u/XBrav · 1 pointr/Lenovo

I can't vouch for those sticks, but I'm running two of these in my x220 with a modified BIOS:

Could it be for sale under a different name? I haven't found an 'active pen' but I have found something called a 'Lenovo Pen Pro' ? Are they the same?
Also, the yoga 520/flex 5 is not on the list of compatible devices for the Wacom pens (although other Lenovo laptops are)?

u/0reader · 1 pointr/Lenovo

So for an example's sake: would this evo 860 ssd be compatible with the laptop if put in the hard drive slot? And is installing it be the same way as installing a hard drive? And do I have to check the screw holes for the drives?

u/alexz64 · 1 pointr/Lenovo

I just ordered this caddy

http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057V95M6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One of the commentators said it worked on their y510p so hopefully it works.

I assume it comes empty though, so what would I put in that space if the 755 is no longer being sold?

HI thanks for replying.
Here´s my serial nr: VK29042
FRU nr: 00PC078
Date of manufacture: 2016.01.26

Actually the monitor I have is a RMA exchange the first one had some problems with the USB-C and was loosing connection all the time.

But this one started having problems around the time I started using a high speed HDMI. I have changed the cable to another [high speed HDMI cable] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/GOLD-High-Speed-HDMI-Cable-Pro-Cables/dp/B003JC3AI0/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1523613485&sr=1-10&keywords=XO&th=1) and the problem seems persist.
