Thanks, I guess I will read them once I finish reading my current collection. Wanted to purchase the box set but they seem to be out of stock for season 1. If you plan on buying the rest, I would recommend the box set, seems like a good deal (well at least here in Canada).

Yes, the author has a well defined eccentric style loaded which can at times be hard to translate, but both the quality of writing and translation is excellent.

Vertical is releasing the volumes in English. They are paperbacks with original artwork on the cover and VOFAN's cover is on the page after the cover on a coated page with higher GSM/thickness.

u/MarkArrows · 0 pointsr/LightNovels

Alterworld is like Zhang Long, except better in every way, shape, and form. It's slow to start, but the cultures and worldbuilding within the virtual world are amazing to read!

u/Cho_Desu · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

I'll suggest picking up All You Need is Kill. It's a standalone, but meets your other criteria. Very exciting read, with an engaging premise.

The Vampire Hunter D series might also be up your alley.

u/eldar666 · 1 pointr/LightNovels

I recommend you start with reading Kizumonogatari as it is the only translated volume that the anime hasn't covered yet(At least the bluray isn't out yet). It has an audiobook on audible as well. Great music and voice-acting.

u/MobileTortoise · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

Loving my first season box set as well!

Just a heads up that Season 2 is available for Pre-order and is coming out December 17th!

u/SaveSaer · 4 pointsr/LightNovels

For light reads, there are All You Need Is Kill with its take on alien monster invasions and groundhog day-like time loop, and Kino no Tabi which has chapters that explore some interesting sci-fi themes.

There are also Legend of the Galactic Heroes and the original Gundam's novel adaptation, but I wouldn't say that they're fit for light reads.

There are no fan TL after volume 4 so no PDFs after it, however you can get the official English release from the links below.

I picked up Accel World, but haven't had a chance to read much of it. So far, it seems like a quality translation.

Also, the Sword Art Online light novel was released not so recently (April). I haven't read that yet, but I have read some of the Baka-Tsuki translation of it. When I get around to reading it, I'll actually be able to compare the two a little.

u/SINCEE · 3 pointsr/LightNovels

I'd say Spice & Wolf because it's a classic and The Irregular at Magic High School because it's fucking awesome.

u/lord_ne · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

I would definitely recommend WorldEnd, it’s really sad but that’s what makes it good

u/ATAT-1605 · 1 pointr/LightNovels

LN has been translated by One Peace Books and can be bought on Amazon. The manga is based on the LN. If you want to give the WN a try here are the epubs.

u/stallionx · 1 pointr/LightNovels

Alter World is probably one of the highest quality ones out there since it has an actual physical print in Russia also available on Amazon digitally in English with a high quality translation. You can read a synopsis here. The translation speeds not to bad about 1 to 2 full books a year as well.

u/pinecone316 · 3 pointsr/LightNovels

My bad, I was thinking of "Necromancer Awakening"

Have you looked into the "Play to Live" series? Its quite a bit darker than LMS but its one of my favorites. http://www.amazon.com/AlterWorld-Play-Live-Book-1-ebook/dp/B00LYJOII6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1421864024&sr=8-3&keywords=play+to+live&pebp=1421864028692&peasin=B00LYJOII6

Most people who start it end up finishing the entire translated series in several days.

u/LN_Life · 1 pointr/LightNovels

It's an official one. Thank you for your recommendation! Any links? Is it BAKEMONOGATARI?

u/xDarKraDx · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

There are some that have physical release and have only one or two volumes: Another, Your Name, The Boy and The Beast, and Your Lie in April

These are the ones that I have on top of my head right now.

u/acidtreat101 · 1 pointr/LightNovels

Because they are being released in the West you would have to buy them:

http://www.amazon.com/Sword-Art-Online-1-Aincrad/dp/0316371246

You can also acquire them easily on the pirate bay torrent site. I don't think the author has a planned number of books yet.

As for the last thing, just read the novel. Yes and no. That's not exactly right but the idea of time passing differently in the game is.

u/readher · 12 pointsr/LightNovels

A special box set with 7 books included released today.

u/Artboomy · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

Got mine yesterday too \(#\^-\^)/

And for those who are interested - second box is to be released later this year, looking forward to it

u/LightBladeX · 6 pointsr/LightNovels

Volume 2 will be out in April (Look at side bar) and so forth every 4 months.

All You Need Is Kill is nice.

Ame no Hi no Iris has robots, so that's probably sci-fi. Really good, anyway.

u/SkinSanitytoInsanity · 1 pointr/LightNovels

I meant the light novel of another
https://www.amazon.com/Another-light-novel-Yukito-Ayatsuji/dp/0316339105
I cant seem to find a 2nd hardcover book of it

u/canadianaviator · 1 pointr/LightNovels

The Haruhi Series is really good. The anime ran from 1-4 with one chapter of 5. Here is the order

If you have seen Death Note then I would highly recommend Death Note: Another Note by NisiOisiN. It follows a case earlier in L's career. Its only one volume and I love it but you can only read it after you have watched Death Note since it uses some of the same characters.

If you enjoyed the anime you could check out Sword Art Online.

Since you already have Spice and Wolf I can't really recommend any other officially translated ones. You can try this blog for a list of the officially translated light novels.

u/Fatdude3 · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

Amazon.de has the english version of Shield Hero.

https://www.amazon.de/Rising-Shield-Hero-1/dp/1935548727/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550045691&sr=8-1&keywords=9781935548720

If you are having trouble finding them what i would suggest you do is to go to Amazon.com website , find the book and search the ISBN-13 code in Amazon.de website. It will find you the english book.

u/lamientable · 3 pointsr/LightNovels

D. Rus' Play to Live series has pretty epic battles centered around capturing and protecting player guild castles starting from book 3 on.

If you can ignore the occasional typos, the World at War series contains nice large scale virtual reality battles, but with guns instead of magic. The MC's company/guild does try to earn the top spot from an underdog position though.

The Spineward Sectors series isn't really virtual reality or fantasy, but sci-fi, and the battles are with starships, but from what I recall I would call them large scale where the MC has to try and hold his spot as Admiral.

u/LegitPancak3 · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

You can preorder on Amazon right now.

u/2oobi · 1 pointr/LightNovels

Spice & Wolf - Love story between a merchant and a wolf deity in a medieval setting.

DanMachi - Hodgepodge of gods from various mythologies acting as catalysts for adventures in a fantasy world.

Goblin Slayer - Edgy but unconventional story of a man who simply kills goblins.

u/Taiboss · 2 pointsr/LightNovels

>I'm not even loocking for german translations since they usually suck.

Stop buying Tokyopop shit. Egmont Manga and Planet Manga translations are usually excellent in my opinion. Also, you said "our" amazon only has two volumes of Spice and Wolf. That's not true. Number 1, Number 2, Number 3 I also ordered Index via Amazon. I never needed to use Book Depository.
