I've seen the night owls go for around 300$ on ebay...
The cheapest Gen-1, that I've seen and that allow you to walk about (ie: no magnification), are still around $500.

They aren't that great, but Yukon - NV 1x24 Goggles are what I had until I could afford NVG-7's
