Cool, thanks. I eventually decided on one of these, which is working great so far to power my internet devices. The rice cooker will happen in the future when I get more solar and storage capacity. So the inverter is considerably more than I need for the moment of course but after being disappointed by a cheaper smaller model from a local store I decided I'd just get a single item that will work into the future. The only possible issue with it -- and this is my fault because I didn't pay attention, particularly to the 6th and final image on the listing -- is that it is enormous. I'd watched an unboxing video in a review further down and simply assumed a) that the styling had changed and b) that what I would receive would fit in the palm of my hand, or at least both hands. I now realize that video was simply for another product entirely. No matter, I'll figure out a way to permanently install this and my increasing array of electrical system components.

I had the wrong idea on your pump set up. Personally I use this pump. Has great pressure, the pressure tank stops the pump from running nonstop, and it's very quiet for the output.

When I say check valve I'm meaning something like this

The pump I'm using is an on demand RV pump, it's designed to cycle the way I am using it. A lot of folks recommended different RV pumps for rainwater systems because of the way they automatically cycle when pressure drops. When you say check valve on the inlet line, can it be as simple as a tee, with the 90 degree being the inlet and the upper part of the tee being a ball valve that i can open and pour water into to prime it.
