If you were willing to do that, your best bet would be to find a pod coffee maker somewhere around campus. Then just use your own coffee pod. WinCo sells them for 40 cents each and you can get them even cheaper on Amazon. You can also buy refillable versions of them.
Or even better, rather than sneaking into prohibited areas, just get one of these or similar. You can put hot coffee into this thing in the morning, and sealed, it will remain too hot to drink until tomorrow morning.
If a $30 thermos is beyond your budget, head on over to any of the ten thousand thrift stores within a mile of campus, or go to the OSUsed store when it's open. They always have vacuum thermoses for sale. You can probably get one for under $5.
Realize, when you're purchasing coffee on campus, or anywhere else, you're not paying for the coffee. You're paying for the convenience. You're paying for the ability to not have to brew it yourself, clean the machine out, have tools and equipment available, etc. And you're paying for someone to stand around all day, just waiting for people to come in looking for coffee. Even if no one comes in for an entire hour, everyone at that shop is getting paid. Plus the cost of the space itself. The vendors on campus all have to pay rent to OSU, just like any other landlord.
In short, $2 really isn't that outrageous for instant, convenient coffee that you don't have to lift a finger for. People often also pay $2 for a bottle of water, when they could get the same water for less than a penny per gallon out of their home tap. You're not paying for the water; you're paying for the convenience.
i just wear regular shoes but i buy a waterproofer from home depot that you can just spray on.
Rain really isnt that bad and dont need to worry about your shoes getting drenched if you waterproof them (even if not, you should be fine) just stay out of the MU Quad becuase its basically just 3 big puddles and you'll have to walk through them, so its easier just to walk around it.
no one really cares if you use an umbrella.. generally people from the area or the PNW are already used to it so they dont really ever use one, they just put their hood on, put their head down and scrunch up their face, but no one really cares..
Also, a big thing you might want to look into is a waterproof backpack, they go a long way. I got this one and it does the job very well. Nothing sucks more than getting to class and having the inside of your backpack be wet.
Yeah that's a confusing title. I know Gen Chem uses these books, and I've seen them around. Author name matches your screen as well. Don't feel obligated to shell out for the 4th ed, 3rd or maybe even 2nd would be fine. Also you'll need an online access code, which sometimes come with an ebook included. Do a bit more research first for that, and don't be afraid to email your instructor!
I bought this one from Amazon a year ago now. It's affordable, very comfortable, and damn near water proof. It comes with a water proof liner that tucks into a bottom pocket, but I rarely even use it, since the material is already fairly water resistant. I've only needed to pop it on for when it's raining fairly hard. It also has a lot of protection around the laptop sleeve, which I like.
