i can try to give you some tips because i too came with almost the same question, and after reading various threads on reddit and other AV forums. i decided to get a 49 because thats the minimum size where HDR really kicks in. Also there arent any really good 43 tvs out there.

but i can try to name you some good 43 tvs, i have been on a journey while researching for a tv to buy.

decent 43 tvs:

TCL P607 & TCL S405 are a really good option and r/4k loves it, so does everybody who knows about this stuff. they are only availble in the stats, and the european TCL's arent as good as the Americans. I have read that tvs arent that bright for some people but you get alot for the money. very low input.

Samsung MU6300

Edge lit, bright and low input. It has higher rating on rtings then Nu7 series and sony X720e. tbf i really liked the Nu7000 in the stores.

I think you should read about some good tvs in 43 size and then go to your closest store and see them for yourself. like i said before, i seriously think you should upgrade to 49 and get a Sony Xe900/x900e or Xf900/x900f.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N29XPO3?tag=rtings-tv-bs10b-20&ie=UTF8

If it has to be a 43, then i would have gone for the TCL. only reason i didnt buy it was is that im not from the states. In my opinion you cant get a better tv for that size or money then a TCL. in a dark room, brightness shouldnt be a problem. Also search for TCL s405 owner thread on AV forums for experiences from the people who actually own the TV. i have told you from what i have read and it seem to be a very popular choice. good luck.

Edit: after a quick google search, it seems like TCL p607 comes in 43. defiantly go for p607 over S405

If I was buying now I guess I'd do the 2tb seagate barricuda everyone is getting. I installed the one I updated in my og 2 months previously. Which is a 2tb seagate slim external i popped out the shell...I imported 400gb over of my saves to it and have about 750gb left. I do a lot of digital for psvr and sales...fills up fast! But 2tb is pretty decent as there old games I will delete I have on disc and probably won't play much or doesn't have a huge patch.

Only difference over stock on either og or pro I noticed was the times it got powered off unexpected, while not in rest mode.

Having a surge in rest mode haven't had a issue with any drive. But non stock drives I have had them reinstalled OS from ground up after a surge with the OS on completely. Where as the stock I never had an issue if this happened. It may be do to the cache and way the upgraded drives function with extra features and catalogs/caches vs the standard stock drive. It's not really an issue, but I usually keep a current back up every month or so of my entire system with games and patches just in case! Save files are cloud so no biggie...but reinstalling discs with 10gb patches and big digital in a day sucks.

For the cheap I'd say 2tb seagate slim external as they are on sale for 79.99 and have proven to work great for storage and just a hair better than the stock but not much

For decent I go with 2tb sshd seagate baricuda cause it's better and the new hotness. I believe it's about $40 or so more.

The Seagate External Hard Drive I have, well I have 2. If you take the shell off the drive, inside is a Samsung SpinPoint M9T 2TB HDD ST2000LM003.

When I first got the OG PS4 for my son I swapped drives, I opened the Seagate case, removed it & put it in the PS4.

I bought a PS4 Pro & this Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD 2TB ST2000LX001. Both are coming today. Right now I’m I have my 2nd Seagate/Samsung External HDD hooked up to my OG PS4 via USB. Says 3 hours to transfer almost 1TB.

The once my sons Pro comes today I want to remove the 1TB drive from the Pro & put in the FireCuda in. You said you don’t like Seagate well hopefully I luck out, this is most recommended 2TB drive for the Pro. I checked several sites, unless you’re getting a 2TB SSD this is the next best thing.

u/YoSoyWalrus · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

I'd guess the ASUS MG28UQ. Many reviewers got it for their ps4 pro, and it's fairly cheap (was under $400 less than a week ago, price fluctuates all the time, used is low $300). It is a TN panel, so colors won't be as good as an IPS, however it means it's a great gaming monitor for more competitive games like Rocket League or COD. Goes without saying there is no HDR, as HDR monitors are all like $1000+. I'd still be confident games would look great on it, though.

Thanks for the suggestions. The TV, a Sony XBR49X800D, definitely supports HDR @ 4K. I can watch 4K with HDR on the TV's Netflix app, for instance.

I considered that the issue might be the receiver, so I did try connecting the PS4 directly to the TV but got the same results. The TV's firmware is updated, although I suppose I should check to see how (or if) the receiver's can be updated as well. The receiver, an Onkyo - I forget the model offhand - is supposed to support 4.4.4 passthrough, so also not likely to be an issue. Since bypassing the receiver still didn't produce 4K HDR through the PS4 Pro I don't think the receiver is contributing to the problem. I even dropped $12 on a pair of new HDMI cables just to be absolutely certain that I had all the right hardware. I've tweaked the settings according to a dozen different sites and videos, all with zero success. At this point, short of getting a professional installer to look at it, I'm stumped.

u/Darius2301 · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

Yes it really is. If you're looking for a very reasonably priced TV that supports 4k and HDR, get one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N29XPO3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have one and I also have a much more expensive 4k, HDR TV. I can't say that the TCL looks exactly as good as the more expensive TV, but it does look pretty darn good.

u/koshuu · 3 pointsr/PS4Pro

A switch is definitely your best option in this situation. Try this one out, I saw it posted on another sub with a similar situation. Hope that helps you out.

If it has to be 60 inch the KS8000, baring any backlight bleeding issues, is definitely the best bet. If 55 would work, OLED is pretty incredible - 1800 atm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CDF9S1G?tag=rtings-tv-bm01a-20&ie=UTF8

u/kenshinesca · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

The sound would go out and screen would black out for a second or 2 then come back on and it would be okay for a few minutes then repeat with the stock PS4 Pro cable. I switched to this cable from monoprice. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GCGKI3O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Haven't had any problems with the screen blacking out or sound issues. Another good cable I've heard people say works great is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DI8A1NW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3L31F4KTJOMGN&coliid=I2N5CQDFP3Y2FI&psc=1

It sucks that Sony cheaped out on the cable but I'm just happy it's working correctly now.

u/Power-Fantastic · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

I went with the 2TB FireCuda. That being said the Seagate SSHD's are great with the Playstation. I have a 1TB Seagate SSHD in my original launch PS4 since day one and its still running strong.

u/morphinapg · 2 pointsr/PS4Pro

The cable that comes with the Pro is actually not premium certified. It doesn't come with the QR code that verifies premium certification.

http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/premiumcable/Premium_HDMI_Cable_Certification_Program.aspx

It certainly may be good enough for most people, but unlike premium certified cables, it wasn't tested to guarantee full 4K bandwidth in every situation. So yes if you get signal dropout or it drops down from 4K to 1080p I'd recommend getting an actual premium certified cable, such as this:

4K with HDR10 without 3D leaves you to focus on pure picture quality.

The best of the best is LG's OLED range.

https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-OLED55B6P-55-Inch-Ultra/dp/B01CDF9S1G

Obviously it's pricey but currently LG lead the way with picture quality.

If this is too pricey LG have some good models such at this one for almost half the price which are generally highly rated: https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-55UH8500-55-Inch-Ultra/dp/B01ARRCHSS/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1478590586&sr=1-2&keywords=lg+uh8500

u/cream_blumkin · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

Yeah, I suppose a little rig info would have helped. I have a

Samsung js7000 suhd tv with one UHD port.

>PS4 pro > single Ibis input

>Ibis output 1 > second switch(to TV)

>Ibis output 2 > PSVR "TO PS4" hdmi port on processor unit.

>Processor unit to second switch(TV)

These and these are the cables I've tried in various combinations with the PS4 pro hdmi that came with the system.

Like I said, all of the hdmi cables from the ps4 to tv support RGB and HDR.

HDR is not supported on either channel of the Ibis switch on a tv that is HDR capable. Both channels on the switch shows that HDR is not supported and can not work due to the vr processor, which leads me to believe that the only signal being picked up is the vr processor, and not that of the ps4 pro.

Just took it out of it's enclosure and plugged the cable in, then put the 1tb drive in the enclosure and now have a 1tb portable drive.

It does actually fit internally but I didn't like the amount of heat and I thought it'd do better plugged in using a cable and now I can easily swap the drive if need be.

Okay a 15mm 2.5" Drive will fit in the cage? I was wondering that aswell was going to take some measurements but I Have a 3.5" 4tb Drive I tried installing using Sata extenders (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L9R3AKA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) but the PS4 Pro dosn't have 12+v HDD Support so it would power the HDD(I connected using the Stock 1TB HDD and it mounted and booted up so i knew it was connected to the Sata/Power ports correctly just had to align precisely with a flash light. so i was thinking about Getting these(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A5323NO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2S4EXOOJ8Z82D) and (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P6W8E8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1UCLUF7KW7AYG) to mount a 3.5" HDD. LG 27UD58-B 27-Inch 4K UHD IPS Monitor with FreeSync https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IRQAYPE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_GYWuzbC40Z79K

That should give you everything you want, except for hdr. 300-350 for the monitor it looks like. If you want to go bigger and get hdr, save up for the 55 inch ks8000 imo.

Absolutely, I know most people will say an hdmi cable is an hdmi cable, but for whatever reason with LG that doesn’t hold true.

Everything else works fine though with their stock cable, my Apple TV 4K and X1X.

Here’s the one I [got](Monoprice 115428 Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cable, 4K @ 60Hz, HDR, 18Gbps, 28AWG, YUV 4:4:4, 6ft, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GCGKI3O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_vIs0Bb9FJCVNM)

u/soiledmanties · 3 pointsr/PS4Pro

I got a splitter and it works pretty well. Pick up some short hdmi high speed cables as well.

Sewell IBIS 4K HDMI Switch Box, 2x1, White, 4K 60 Hz, HDCP pass-through (HDCP 2.2 support), 2x1 or 1x2 HDMI Bi-Directional Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WP755QH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_j7vBzb82KYH1A

So hdmi 1 is hdr/4k, while hdmi 2 is for psvr. I'm still figuring out a good way to get the tv to recognize it half the time, since the toggle on the switch doesn't refresh the hdmi signal. Turning on the psvr seems to do the flip.

And no, other than toggling the button on the switch, there's no plugging and unplugging.

u/SubiFriend · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

Hey thanks again for sharing this. Excellent work.

Question: I'm looking to use those Thermal Grizzly pads on two PS4 Pro units. Will 1 stick of the pads be enough or should I order 2?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZJS8RWQ

u/coldtires · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

No that adapter wont work. this is what you need and it costs almost as much as a low end monitor.

https://www.amazon.com/SIIG-HDMI-DisplayPort-Converter-60Hz/dp/B07C39QBSF/

Check that the Samsung actually supports 4K, see resolution timings in the manual 3840x2160@60Hz over HDMI.

Sony don't go out of their way to test PC monitors for compatibility (HDMI is not a 100% bulletproof standard) in which case something like a 4K HDMI switch could act as a buffer between the console and monitor hopefully resolving the issue as the switch pretends to be a TV to the console and a device to the display.

I personally use a LG 27UD69P-W and like it a lot. It's a 4K IPS monitor so the response time isn't as fast as monitors with TN panels. I bought 5 of these when the Pro arrived for me. Only 3 of them worked, where as 2 others produced the black screen blink you may have seen others complain about.

I've seen a few say these work too https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NQ9OQU2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uh4WBb612K2SD

But I always say, buy a few if you can, test, and return the ones that aren't up to par. Unfortunately, while they say they can do what they should, they are mass produced and not every cable is tested or even tested to work up to the full 18gbps speed 100% of the time. Thus, test a few and go with the best one.

u/ZepharusCMG · 5 pointsr/PS4Pro

The answer is premium CERTIFIED cables. The ones with the QR code on the packaging. If they dont have the QR code then they arent certified no matter what the package says. I had the same issue and this fixed it. All cable are not created equal. even the exact brand model vary between cables. Premium certified are actually pulled and tested for specifically this.

I modified a Seagate Backup Plus 4TB Portable External Hard Drive Link and used a Sata extension cable similar to this Link.
Its passively cooled and I haven't had any problems yet.

Also, low end lg tvs arent really 4k. They have an rgbw pixel pattern. Means 6 million colored pixels not 8 million.

And no link? Is this what you speak of? Seagate Backup Plus 4TB Portable External Hard Drive with 200GB of Cloud Storage USB 3.0 Black (STDR4000100) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZTRXFBA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_jzyjybAEZYJFP

You won't find one under $600. HDR10 is the literal cutting edge.

Here's one for about 700, but it's 43": https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FWIEO2E?tag=rtings-tv-bs10b-20&ie=UTF8

If you want 4k HDR10, you're looking in the $1k range for the next 1-2 years. Sorry mate :(

PS. That's why I'm waiting to buy a TV myself. Seeing what's in the cards next year.

I have a better idea.

cut a hole in the back of the HDD casing to support the connector, plug the connector in to the ps4. Done.

No fear of mashing in a HDD in to a slot the PS Pro was not designed for. No fear of cooking your HDD as it'll live in a enclosure it was designed for. No fear of cooking your PS4 as, sure you have to run it without the back plate which messes a touch with air flow, BUT that should be more than offset by the fact that you no longer have a heat generating hard drive in the slot.

    Done.

I'm ordering this today and will report the results.
