>Mikulski and the rest of the Senate may be surprised to learn that they were repeating 60-year-old justifications of Chinese medicine put forward by Chairman Mao. Unlike Mikulski, however, Mao was under no illusion that Chinese medicine—a key component of naturopathic education—actually worked. In The Private Life of Chairman Mao, Li Zhisui, one of Mao’s personal physicians, recounts a conversation they had on the subject. Trained as an M.D. in Western medicine, Li admitted to being baffled by ancient Chinese medical books, especially their theories relating to the five elements. It turns out his employer also found them implausible.
>”Even though I believe we should promote Chinese medicine,” Mao told him, “I personally do not believe in it. I don’t take Chinese medicine

I lost my extra weight over a year through a diet change and water fasting.
I eliminated:
I added fish back. I now eat meat only about twice per month.
My diet is based on vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, fruits, and limited grains. I avoid processed foods whenever possible, and cook almost everything from scratch.
These books were interesting, even though I don't think they are exactly right in their conclusions:
I try to stop eating at 4 pm, fasting until morning.
I was obese but now I'm at a normal BMI.
I think that if one wants to change the results of one's lifestyle, the lifestyle has to be fundamentally changed. Slapping a bandaid on it never worked for me.
I keep a pair of heavydishwashing gloves on hand at all times to get tight jars open, but I'd try this duct tape method if they failed - I still have a jar of Mangos from Costco I bought over a year ago that I can't get open!
