Well, cool! :) Great video. Brought back a lot of nostalgia.

I was a huge Sega fanboy back in the day. Still am, but only for the old Sega when they did hardware, too. Back then, Sega could do no wrong. Saturn was better than PS. Dreamcast... well, Dreamcast was always better than the PS2 and possibly the Xbox. Just a great system. Genesis (or as the YouTube hard core guys - Mega Drive) was awesome. Sega Master System.... Memories. But, the SMS wasn't the first Sega console.

Have you read the book 'Service Games: Rise and Fall of Sega'? Great book for anyone interested in Sega - http://www.amazon.com/Service-Games-Rise-Fall-SEGA/dp/1463578474

Great video, BTW. Subscribed to check out your others.

That is a hardware clone, and a poor one at that(made by ATGames). It may be officially licensed by Sega, but doesn't mean it doesn't suck. If you are intent on getting a hardware clone get a Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio. It is currently selling for $55 and plays NES, SNES, and Genesis games it is also capable of playing GBA games with an adapter.

You can get an everdrive or something similar to allow saves states, but if you are looking for save states in general you are probably best off buying a Retron 5.

I just did a little research and found a guide on how to make a homemade flash cart. They suggested getting a 16Mbit cartridge because it had all the wiring needed for all different ROM sizes so I figured that should work for this.

I used this desoldering pump, which was recommended by John Riggs on YouTube and this soldering station, recommended by Voultar on YouTube, as well as some standard flux paste.

The solder job turned out pretty good looking.

Also bought this Retro Bit 6 button controller for playing games that need it like Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition.

If not in the US, just use an US address as the billing address and it will work.

EDIT: They all activate on Steam fine. I just finished adding them.

Double EDIT: There is also the Sega Fun Pack for $9.99 which I have now bought as well.

For retro consoles that I want to use via HDMI, I use Analogue's Super Nt for SNES, Mega Sg for Genesis/Master System, and RetroUSB's AVS for NES/Famicom games. These are a bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

This is the HDMI switch I use for my consoles.

They don't make it themselves, but it's officially licenced by Sega. The Genesis Classic Game Console console has been out for a while, It also plays real Genesis games. I've seen it at Toys R Us, and Target. Also Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Genesis-AtGames-Classic-Game-Console-Electronic/dp/B00K2CXNPU/ref=dp_ob_title_vg

I'll do one better, here's a link to some used ones for sale ~$10 on amazon. I'm sure you could find one NIB if you looked hard enough, but it would cost you 4x that at the very least.

You can get an official USB right now... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P37ZGTF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_6I82CbJSWX8XS

There is even a clear blue version or a Saturn USB controller if you so desire. 😉

Something like this should work. I've used one in the past and it works kinda decently.

I mean how is it different from https://www.amazon.com/Retro-Bit-Official-Controller-8-Button-RetroPie-Raspberry/dp/B07P37ZGTF/ which also has the 6 button layout and is already available?

I picked up a used Nimbus for gaming on the iPad. It works for the most part. Some button issues though: https://smile.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Nimbus-Wireless-Gaming-Controller/dp/B01AZC3III

Also it only works on iOS devices so no use with your pc.

Buy a power supply that is purposefully made for the Sega CD (MK 1602).

They can be picky about power due to center negative polarity.

Most generic power supplies are center positive.

Get this

Ignore the Amazon answer that says it won’t work for Sega CD 2. That guy is an idiot.
