I get that sensation too, mostly when lying down and especially at bedtime. It's caused me some unfun bouts of insomnia, including last night. There's a name for it - Pulsatile Tinnitus. I haven't been diagnosed but it fits with my symptoms.

One thing can try is plugging your nostrils with your thumb and pointer finger, then closing your mouth and blowing. Start out low but increase it till you can feel it in your ears. Not too hard, you don't want to pop an ear drum, but doing this will often open up the ear passages a bit for me and make the sensation subside a bit.
Have you ever had your ears cleaned? Your regular doc or an ENT would do it, or you can get one of these fun gadgets. Helps if you have somebody who can assist but I've used it on myself before.
