I'd recommend using GIMP 2 for image editing (use the direct download). It supports Windows, Mac, and Linux, and is a damn robust piece of software for being free.

As for video editing, I'd recommend Lightworks, another piece of free software that is surprisingly comparable to proprietary software.

If you want to shell out money for photo editing, the obvious choice is Adobe Photoshop. For video editing, I use Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 21. It's an outdated version (The newest is 22), but 21 is at half the price point and comes with pretty much everything 22 does. The big thing for me is that it has motion tracking, which is a literal godsend for shitposts.

While I’m not a real expert on keytars, from what I found if you want a good one than these two would probably be the best option. They’re expensive though. Both $300.00. I’m not entirely sure what brands would exclusive have recording options though.

A lot of the supplementary information I have is from the Magic Book of Spells. Then the rest is my own analysis of the nuances of the franchise, filling in the gaps on my own, and some opinion.

First off, how old are you? Its never too late to start but the younger you are and the sooner you take it seriously, the more of a head start you get.

And study it. Take around a sketchbook and sketch everything you can. Study anatomy and take life drawing classes with a focus on gesture drawing. Go through existing animation frame by frame.

Observation, observation, observation. Learn how joints move, and how muscles slide over bones and under skin. Watch tutorials, learn Adobe After Effects and Toonboom Harmony.

If you want to persue it as a possible career, it is all about WHO you know. The animation world is unbelievably incestuous but most in industry are willing to talk and help. Join clubs, use social media, and be willing to approach and talk to everyone you can find. Be a pain in the ass!

Also, be willing to be a yes man. Very few people get a job in walt disney studios/warner bros etc, especially straight away, and you will probably find that most of your client jobs are boring corporate crap. These are your bread and butter as an animator but they are also a step towards your dreams.

Actually - you all may be too young to remember it, but the very worst cast of this happened when I was reasonably young, and they released an animated movie called Watership Down - a very good movie, I might add.

It was an animated movie about rabbits and it was released as a kid's movie. The advertisement they used made it look like it was for young children.

A whole generation was inadvertently traumatized ... 😄

The movie is most definitely not for young children. It features brutal, gruesome deaths; mass killing (by gassing) of a whole warren; another warren that has institutionalized rape run by a rabbit version of the Gestapo. This, in the 1970s.
