To be clear, it was the Acestream app that was killed, which would be the background app. MX Player kept running just fine, but ended up with noting to play, because acestream was killed. It's similar but not the same situation your app is in, because the video player is playing the stream directly and doesn't depend on TvZion for the data (as it does with Acestream). Although the high priority background app has the best chance of survival, because there is no such thing as swap on Android, if you're out of memory, you are out of memory.
As a last resort, some people ended up force stopping every last user app on fire tv, and someone even came up with an app to quickly cycle through them to force quit. This prevents them from starting up again and is realistically the last thing you can do to free up resources.

I use the Download App to download and install files... why do you need anything else?
It's a separate video player. Here's a link for Fire stick https://www.amazon.com/VLC-Mobile-Team-for-Fire/dp/B00U65KQMQ once you install it you have to go into TVZion setting and change the player to VLC. Try that.
