I have a corepad deskpad xl(70cm x 50cm), and I love it. I previously used a ripper xxl, but the top started to peel after about a year of use. So far the deskpad has three big advantages: less stretch under a heavy mouse hand; better quality fabric, tighter knit means better glide and less susceptibility to crumbs, dust, sand, etc.; and it made it through a particularly hot and humid summer without starting to smell like arm sweat. The ripper had issues with that, had to clean it once or twice a week.

Any cheap discrete graphics card will give you much better performance.

Discrete here means not integrated.

For example this radeon should provide a boost in performance. This may be a temporary solution for you, but it may be worth it until you can save for a better system overall.

Without details of what integrated graphics you're using I can't give you a performance comparison though.

Edit: Maybe go with an NVIDIA card, given that they currently perform better with Tribes. They can be found for similar prices.

tribes DOES perform better with NVIDIA, id recommend going for a 760 for the best value for your money.

Regarding cpu, an i5 will do the job fine. Hell, there are still people who use the 2500k and get very, very good performance with it.

For ram, 8gb @1600mhz will do fine. Corsair Vengeance has been around for a while but does the job nicely, and is solid entry level ram. (make sure you get the low profile / lp version to prevent any clearance issues with your cpu cooler)

I use this. The clip on edge thing for your desk is totally awesome. It is Lycra however so I don't know if it'll have too much friction for you. As a bonus, the Serial number of the product says looks like it says FAGSLAYER.

Don't buy into the whole "gaming headset" craze. Find a good pair of legitimate headphones and then buy a mic like this one to go with it.

My friends and I use that mic and the sound quality is crystal clear through both ends. Don't be fooled by a gaming headset being good just because it has a built in microphone. Majority (if not all of them) have terrible quality and are ridiculously overpriced. I know you don't want to order things online, but I'd recommend looking into it. If you're putting $50-$100 into something, it's much more worth it to wait a week for it to come in than settle for a half-assed pair because you can buy it directly from the store.

Having a large mousepad is necessary for those low-low sensitivities. I'm currently using a large one of these (17.5in x 14in). You have to get used to aiming with your whole forearm rather than just your wrist. It takes practice, but really improves your game being able to make fine adjustments to your aim tracking.

A DeskPad like this? http://www.amazon.de/COREPAD-Deskpad-Surface-Mousepad-CP11015/dp/B006EKXYMG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_computers_5 3

Sure this is large, but who knows if its better than my desk surface (that I covered today in silicone oil)?

That's big.. maybe you should look for it in a super-market, this kind of stores where you can buy a lot of dif. trash for some cents (paid 1€, for a 50x40, had one in white 1st but it was too shiny for my mouse)..or on the internet, but this way u can't test it..Perhaps you should look for a Desk Pad they are really huge and cheap. Also I can recomand Teflon-Spray it makes everything slippy ;-)

A little pricey and only fits some desks but incredibly comfortable.

I use an avermedia live gamer portable. Works great with my gaming laptop and allows me to record without taking ANY frame hit.

This or this would do much better.

which is on the Tron Legacy "Reconfigured" album. (which is what the soundtrack honestly should have been in the first place)

If you can't afford an ngen04, get a teflon oven liner and tape it to your desk.

It's a similar material but it doesn't have the sticky backing.

It seems the Core 2 Duo 4300 is an LGA 775 socket type. You could buy this processor for $78 and it should improve performance quite a bit. I have no idea how old your computer is or what type of motherboard you have, so I am not certain if your machine can handle this processor/is compatible. The socket type fits though, although this isn't the only factor for compatibility.

As another user said below, this GPU would handle Tribes, as seen in this video. (looks laggy because he's recording). Anyway, check that everything is compatible first, and if it is, this should be a cheap fix to your problem. All in all, it should cost you about $150-160.

CHECK YOUR COMPATIBILITY FIRST.
