I wear Crocs 95% of the time in the summer. I'm an assistant, so like you said, I do spend a lot of time on our greens watering, but I do everything else in Crocs. They aren't exactly OSHA approved, though...
This spring I also got a pair of Merrell Annex Mid boots and they're some of the best shoes I've ever had. They're pricey, but they're worth it.
I've had Keen, Northface, Salomon, Columbia, etc. etc. They've all taken a crap on me usually by the end of Spring. The waterproofing is usually the first thing to go. But not these Merrell's. They're awesome shoes. And they're lightweight for being a Mid, which is also nice for keep your pant legs dry.
Pick your favorite pair of Nike, Asics, or Adidas and wear a pair of galoshes over top.
