It's subjective (like what you're using it for, size of your desk, etc), but personally yes. You do get more screen with the two monitor way however. If you need to extend the display (have a long desktop where you can move open windows to) and not mirror it (have a copy of the laptop you can show other people sitting across from you), then I would recommend the LG. It's pretty cheap for what it is (ultrawide with Freesync for $250 on sale), and you don't need to manage all that cable as you would with a hdmi switch - just connect the xbox to HDMI, mac (mini displayport to monitor displayport - search amazon for the cable). It has software to split the screen from multiple sources, but I've never tried it with a xbox. ON a full screen, xbox might show blackboxes on the side but IDK - never tried. I would still recommend a deskmount (single this time) to save desk space and also allow for possible vertical use of monitor - just rotate the screen.

Not an answer to your question exactly, but have you considered upgrading your casters instead? I'm not sure if it's truly better over multiple years at protecting your carpets over a mat, but I've LOVED having them on my office chair and can't see any visible wear on the carpets.

I also recently got this same desk! I wish I had gone for the 72" though, I got the slightly smaller model and now I'm regretting it. oh well.

With mine I also go this AmazonBasics dual monitor mount, which is really great and I would totally recommend. You'll get slightly more desk space by removing those monitor stands from the surface, plus you can more easily adjust the monitors if needed when you go from sitting to standing.

I also got these cable management trays which really helped tidy up my wires. Your cabling situation actually doesn't seem too bad, so you might not need this.

Any reason something like this wouldn't work?

https://www.amazon.com/Planar-997-6504-00-Monitor-Stand/dp/B005BZNCUO

I only mentioned it being a Micke as was excited to see someone using it :)

SunnieDog Ergonomic Office Chair Wheels Roll Just As Smooth On Day 1000 As They Did On Day 1 - Heavy Duty Protection for Hardwood & Tile Floors Without Mat - Roller Blade Style w/Universal Fit- Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CGZPOK2/

I have these, they’re awesome.

You can place the speaker on the wall with product like that also. Would save you floor and desk space!

depending on the monitor arm, there is a variation where you don't need a drill, something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00B21TLQU/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1504632454&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=monitor+arm+desk+mount&dpPl=1&dpID=31qDzCQi0%2BL&ref=plSrch, I'm using similar one for 27" monitor, didn't have any issues for months now, and it can be easily dismounted, without any damage to desk surface.

Here is what I actually used, I really like it cause I can hang cables or another headset on it as well. The Anchor - Under-Desk Headphone Stand Mount

Why don't you consider using a monitor arm? Like this here. I have a similar one. You should only check if your desk is "strong" enough. (Not one of the cheap IKEA Desks)

There are mousepads like that: https://www.amazon.com/3M-Precise-Repositionable-Adhesive-MP200PS/dp/B0017D5Z40

I think that's about as thin as you're going to get, without going with an adhesive film of some sort.

u/nexusxis · 1 pointr/Workspaces

Maybe something like these cable channels/raceways? Less elegant looking but more heavy duty option: those long rubber "J"-shaped cable channels like these ones.

FWIW, I always have my desk against a wall and use this IKEA SIGNUM cable tray screwed into the bottom of my desk so I'm not exactly an expert in cable management.

The LG on the left is just sitting on a little box I got at IKEA the screen on the right is attached to this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00B21TLQU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I dont have experience with the product, but you could also try these Furniture Caster Cups. If those dont work a combination of the two should be overkill

Do you have attic space above your office? If so, consider running [speaker wire](http://www.NavePoint.com/ 250ft in Wall Audio Speaker Cable Wire CL2 14/2 AWG Gauge 2 Conductor Bulk White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ETLP48I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ATSWDb281J47W) through the ceiling and installing flush mount [ceiling speakers](http://www.Micca.com/ M-6C 6.5 Inch 2-Way in-Ceiling in-Wall Speaker with Pivoting 1" Silk Dome Tweeter (Each, White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0047PPR2A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_lUSWDbRQSQPYT). The speaker wire can connect to a wall amp [like this](http://www.Pyle.com/ Bluetooth Receiver Wall Mount | In-Wall Audio Control Receiver with Built-in Amplifier | USB, Microphone, Aux (3.5mm) Input | Speaker Terminal Block | Connect 2 Speakers - 100 Watt (PWA15BT) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010U5EGKE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fSSWDbF0DG0MA) so wires are totally concealed. You would then connect audio via Bluetooth.

I am a bit uncertain as to what is the problem. if you d o not want to remove any of it this is my immediate but ugly solution.. buy soem of those cabel strips in black. then also eye bolts, eye lags, or even theese https://www.google.dk/url?sa=i&source=imgres&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiOi-Wtz97eAhXMjywKHSXcCusQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fxinjiayuanhardware.en.made-in-china.com%2Fproduct%2FCKNxVwuvyrpd%2FChina-50lb-CTN-Turf-Steel-Fence-Staple-U-Type-Nails-1-3-.html&psig=AOvVaw04qQvFzekj9myWuPniVSFl&ust=1542653795476872:

and jsut wrap them around the cable zipper. like this :https://www.amazon.com/Evriholder-Cable-Zipper-Organizer-Medium/dp/B000LNV09G

but like I said, its super ugly and i would just hire a contractor to handle it if it was for a proffessional office. or an interior designer.

27 inches is definitely still too high for me. The only other option i've really thought of was building my own desk, but i could potentially fuck it up and lose some in materials and have to buy more or end up with something that isn't really stable.

Actually standing whilst using a standing desk isn't really an option either (I'm into competitive gaming, and question the ability of a standing setup to perform (it seems like there's just more stress on your body), i don't know if i'd be able to adjust, and lans don't provide them if i ever wanted to go to one anyways. also i really need armrests, and standing robs me of the ability to use them.)

I've found this desk that seems to be good and goes down to 21 inches, but i find myself sorta wanting 30 inches deep because i'm fucked out of $300 if 2 feet isn't deep enough (but the only ones that are 30in wide are above are granite finish, and i think wood will be nicer to place my arm on and i sort of need to draw on the desk a bit). also the fact it doesn't have lots of reviews makes me worry a bit about buying it.

I've also found this but well... I'm not made of money lol.
