I built a sleeping/cooking platform for the back of my crosstrek and I am about 6'2 and I just fit with the front seats as far forward as they go. So you guys should fit just fine. Getting something like the Yakima 16 skybox (what I have on mine) helps a lot with gear storage. If you are going to sleep in your car in the summer you are probably going to want the windows down so recommend these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YI3IGA6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They fit the back doors perfectly, keep the bugs out, give some privacy and are some defense against minor rain.
I had fun coming up my build/set up so I say get creative and good luck!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IR3ZXJ0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
^ I got these bulbs. They were only $10 and they included adaptors for both the map/dome lights and the trunk light so it was nice that you didn’t have to buy separate lights.
Swap was super easy. I used a pocket knife to pop off the cover and it should come out super easy. Used the Festoon adaptor for the map/dome lights. If the lights don’t work, try flipping it 180 degrees because it has a specific polarity. Then used the T10 adaptor for the trunk light.
Hope this helps!
Yo! I have the 32" OPT7 C2 Series of spot/flood bar mounted on my roof rack. It's amazing and I absolutely love it, even after 3 years of hard use. 10/10 would purchase again.
Exterior: OPT7 C2 32" flood/spot - I found it fairly easy to install once I understood the where the wires go. I did have an issue with the brackets I got for it. The bar was one inch diameter and the brackets ran a little small^(nothing) a hammer cant fix.
Sweet sweet installation guide | shameless night offroading video
Interior: LED interior lighting - I love this mod. I think it's one of the most cost effective mods out there. Really gives your vehicle a "pop"

I'm really happy with this center console insert I got off of amazon. Nice having a place for spare change, it makes the center console more useable. It fits in perfectly, looks like it came from factory.
Edit: fits '18 and '19
I have a 2017 with the stock AeroBars and I decided upon purchasing this one here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002M4AVGU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1MYXA6TLEW6O1&psc=1
The reviews on it are really good. I used it throughout the summer, including taking it on a few camping/road trips and it's holding up great so far. I have not noticed any rust spots and it looks almost exactly like the rhino rack version just without the brand-name. I am happy with my purchase.
Like other people said it is all in your owners manual. But if you are going to at least be changing your own oil, I highly recommend getting the fumoto valve it has made changing the oil quick, and super clean since I got it!!! It is a must buy.
I got this one it takes about an hour to install by yourself. Requires light reaming of holes with a hand file, but is solid. I recommend a second person to help line things up. curt trailer hitch
Ah nice! Fat chance, but do you happen to know the part number or the one from this list? They are pretty spendy to buy and test, and I'm worried after the last bulb I bought pooped out quick.
e: I did find a video showing a sylvania, though he mentions it's not much brighter.
e2: Ah these might be what I'm after! And looks like lots of crosstrek owners verifying results.
I've got budget crossbars and budget j-racks from amazon. The crossbars are CargoLoc, and they have a decent set of reviews on Amazon. They fit nicely. I'm not sure I 100% trust the locking mechanism that clamps the bars to the rails, so I tie them off to the roof rails to be sure. The bars themselves are extruded aluminum and are fine. If you tie a loop of good rope around the rails as a backup, well, that's not that different from the plastic strap that holds expensive Timberline towers onto the rails. The kayak racks are kayak racks. They're just metal bars and some bolts and plates that hold the racks to the crossbars. The ones I got are budget, but they also have very good reviews from users. They're functionally identical to more expensive racks.
I know some will disagree, and I probably would, too, if I used them more regularly. The CargoLocs certainly are not pretty.
Bars: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GA2HKAU
Racks: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00873J0YY
Lots of Crosstreks in the crossbar reviews.
Got these for my 2019. Have had zero problems. I keep a Yakima Loadwarrior attached all the time. They look like the OEM ones. I don’t notice any additional noise with them on compared to when they were off. I do notice noise with the sunroof open, but that’s largely attributed to the cargo basket, not the rails themself. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for the OEM look, but want to save some money.

Whatever you do, don't cheap out and get these like I did unless you want to spend all your free time over the next week to try and get them to stop whistling. They whistle loud at anything over 45mph. Once I get that sorted out, I think I'll be happy with these, though. I (140lbs) climbed up and sat on my basket, and they didn't noticeably bend, or even creak/squeak.
Sure!

Highly recommend these bars. Fit is as good as OEM for half the price

I used these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ADHUXGU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Many other people have as well. Some people put them in the plastic circle tabs in the ceiling over the trunk. But to do that you have to drill a hole in the sheet metal of the ceiling. I didn't want to do that, so I popped off both D-pillar covers and drilled holes in those. Worked great. They are high enough up so they don't get covered unless the trunk is 100% packed.
I soldered them into the switch for the stock trunk light. That way the automatically turn on and off when opening and closing the trunk.
So you can’t see this but on the other side I have an awning attached. The crossbars that Subaru offers have 0 overhang so I wouldn’t have been able to attach my awning to the cross bars. They are cheap and affordable but really worked well for my build

I bought these bars based on feedback from the Crosstrek forums. They are adjustable so they would fit both. Cheap and work great. Only complaint is there is a channel on the bottom that is noisy at high speeds but an easy fix, just put some aluminum tape over it. https://www.amazon.ca/CargoLoc-Roof-Aluminum-Cross-Bars/dp/B00GA2HKAU
Here's what I have - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FNDCSTO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_SxSYCb0X8G0CH - I love it, good build quality and no issues with rust in over a years time.
These are $37 and have been great so far.
CargoLoc Roof Top 2 PC. 46" Aluminum Cross Bars - Lockable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GA2HKAU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_gq3nQsoOHvbPI
I literally bought the same car on Saturday and am loving it. The eyesight has made my commute something to look forward to.
As for add ons, I'm keeping it simple at first and ordered cup holder inserts with orange trim off Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Custom-Holder-Accessories-Impreza-Crosstrek/dp/B078NZ28YQ
Did you name him yet? My guy is Otto
I am pretty happy with this combination:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EKVUJC8
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018FUYN0O
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SOM9GQ
It did require some minor mods. I drilled the cover so it takes 4 screws instead of 2, used a dremel to make it so that the screws didn't stick out too far in the rear, and applied some JB weld around the nuts so that they wouldn't spin. A bit of work, but well worth it IMO.
Have had this for a year in my ‘19 and I love it
ROLA 59504 V-Tex Rooftop Cargo Basket https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004R34HDC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_InCCDbGY1B510
My dealer also drilled the holes. This is the bracket you need to put a US plate on the Japanese holes, fits perfectly, and covers up the dealer holes.
https://www.amazon.com/License-Plate-Adapter-Kit-Subaru/dp/B01EKVUJC8
I used a bracket off of Amazon and it has worked great.
Two inexpensive but totally worthwhile upgrades:
Sure, it is just your typical Plasti Dip classic black 11 oz can. Here's a link to the one I used, though I bought mine at Lowes for like 6 bucks.
https://www.amazon.com/Performix-11203-Multi-Purpose-Coating-Aerosol/dp/B0006SU3QW
I have the Thule 91725 flat top which I managed to carry 4 pairs of skis or 2 pairs of skis and 2 boards quite easily. Also if you are looking for crossbars, these ones do the job just fine.
CargoLoc Roof Top 2 PC. 47" Aluminum Cross Bars - Lockable https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00GA2HKAU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fvIwDbYRS23H6
I also recommend a wind fairing as it gets noisy and degrades the MPG a bit.
Thanks!

I'm headed that way with my Crosstrek next Tuesday! Love the tires. Something I just replaced (after two years of use because the paint faded a bit) that might look sharp with your black highlights are these License Plate Frames. I always notice people's plates when I'm on road trips. Thank you for removing dealership frames if you had them originally, those irrationally infuriate me.

Obligatory not a salesperson, not affiliated in any way, that's just a normal old Amazon link and I'm not making money.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GJX5XX3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I just copped this one. Build quality is OEM, looks and feels nice. The downside is the area where the cord cutout is: It's not large enough of a space to fit my iPhone SE and the cord protruding from the bottom of the phone, so my phone still sits in the cupholder so...YMMV.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018FUYN0O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are what I used to replace the dealer plates. They match the other black plastic bits pretty closely.
The ones I ordered were generic one size fits all
They fit great width wise but they have a little extra material height wise but it just scrunches up at the bottom of the window. No problem
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YI3IGA6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_KEU6CbT8CV27N
I picked up the following and so far they've been great.. a little noisier than I would've liked but for that price I can't complain:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GA2HKAU/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
Got it on Amazon. Seems to work ok. Got it so I could mount my light bar behind the rear grille and shine through.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EKVUJC8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_wKNOyb1AKFH65
Also, might I suggest this front license plate bracket. It's much thinner and better looking than the OEM one, isn't crooked, and doesn't attach with any goop.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EKVUJC8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Try something like this?

I really like the way the Rage Powersports roof basket looks on my 2015.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002M4AVGU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_rpEzybYYTW8PC
Back when I got it it was $153 so watch for sales.
Here's an album of how it looks paired with Subaru Aero Crossbars: https://imgur.com/a/tjgfW
(yes, the text on the front is supposed to be reversed.)
I only take mine off when we get snow forecast. THAT'S the real PITA, clearing snow out of these things. I pop out four bolts with my power driver and the brackets rotate out of the way and the whole thing lifts off.
Rustproofing was a concern. I used plenty of silicone sealant EVERYWHERE the assembly had openings. The tubes that slide together got sealant in and around them. The bolts holding the rack together got sealant around the top of the threads that compressed when they were tightened down. I did my best to make sure water couldn't get in there. Did I miss something? Probably, but I hope it'll last longer than if I did nothing.
Good luck with your choice.
Post some pics of what you come up with!

I just picked up something similar for my 2016 here on Amazon, 8.88 I thought the price was worth it to at least give it a try:

No issues so far. No rust. Seems to be made pretty well. At that time it was around $180 but seems to be a little more now.
Amazon has affordable kits with mostly good reviews. I haven't gone this route my self so I can't speak personally to the quality. Here's one kit I found but there may be others if you search around.

You can Google or Amazon t style hood loops it kayak hood loops, like this:
Shoreline Marine Propel hood Trunk tie-Down Loops https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CRBXQUK/
I've used Thule before with no issues. Basically you hold the strap or rest it outside the hood and back and have the black plastic piece under the hood and then close it. The black plastic piece orevents it from coming out from under the hood and you can set it on either side if the hood and same with the back.

This is all DIY. Snagged these LED bolts off Amazon and just tapped into the wiring for the existing cargo light. Ran everything along the cabling into the hatch, drilled a pair of 7/16" holes for the lights, and hooked everything up.

I recently bought the Brightlines Aero bars from amazon. They look exactly the same as the OEM version. They sit lower to the car and have less curvature than the OEM. I only had them for a month and I have yet to find a single issue with them.

For a bike rack, I just use a hitch mounted Nash Bar sit-in rack. For the money its nice, but there are multiple issues with the rack and how it’s designed so I don’t recommend it.

We have these cup holder heroes and used the center console rubber mat on our dash and it serves as a sun glass holder similar to someone said above... works well but you can always find something similar instead of buying this set
Love the look, hate the whistling (even with aluminum tape on the bottom of the bars).

So MannyCoon already answered the part about the spacing of the existing holes, but here you go. This license plate actually uses these holes.
What interior LED lights did you get from amazon? I was looking at a few for my 2019 Limited Crosstrek

CargoLoc 2-Piece 52" Aluminum... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GA2HKAU?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I don't recommend them though. They whistle like crazy. The culprit is the track along the bottom where the mounts slide back and forth to make them universal. I covered them with duct tape to fix it and now the noise is gone but it looks like crap

So far so good. One trip today no issues. Can’t beat the price either
I bought this one https://www.amazon.com/59504-V-Tex-Rooftop-Cargo-Basket/dp/B004R34HDC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503946608&sr=8-1&keywords=Rola+roof+basket
I paid a little less than the sticker price because one was available "used" for $100. Really the only thing used about it was a damaged box.

I was mistaken! Not OEM!
The bumper on the car comes standard with the Japanese mounting holes and then two "dimples" on the plastic just above the Japanese mounts. The "standard" way Subaru mounts the plates for the US is to screw the license plate directly into the dimples in the front of the car. This puts holes in the plastic, only connects the plate at the top two screws and is kind of a crappy way to mount the plate. I think the official Subaru plate just gives you a metal backplate to screw through, you still are drilling into the bumper plastic.
A cleaner solution is to ask the dealer not to drill into the bumper at all. Then get an adaptor like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EKVUJC8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It screws into the Japanese molded holes in the bumper with expanding screws and provides a flat plastic plate with four mounting holes for your plate, centered on the bumper. It avoids needing to drill any bumper holes and mounts the plate nicely.
