Just make sure they have a MASTER/SLAVE jumper on them.
The KingWin ADP-06 does not and will not work with Chimp to clone the HDD in the Xbox. It is always a MASTER IDE device. Cloning requires a MASTER (current HDD) and SLAVE (new HDD) device. Once the drive is formatted by other means, it works.
Marvell 88SA8052 bridge controller-based adapters seem to work the best (not verified by myself just info I've seen posted by others).
StarTech's IDE2SAT2 [check Amazon to save a few bucks], IOI.com.tw's IDE-to-SATA adapter, DatOptic's IDE-SATA07, AbleConn's IDE40-SAT, to name a few. I'm missing another from a company based in Germany. Ah ha, DeLock 62686.
I'd avoid the hotswap method as it's a bit risky. You can purchase a usb cable for use in transfering the saves for under $5, and MechAssault (the first found softmod exploit that seems to not be featured in any of the tutorials I find online) can also be found for cheap-- as in, much cheaper than a used copy of 007 or Splinter Cell, and provides the same results.

Xbox to USB Cable: $3.75, free shipping
MechAssault: Under $5.00 used with Shipping -- Ask the seller to confirm that it's NOT the "Greatest Hits" release as the softmod WILL NOT work with that.
USB Flash Drive -- Most will work, but you may need to try a few. If you have a USB drive that comes with "U3" or other built in software, it probably wont work. But any 1GB stick is MORE than enough space. Be aware that you will need to format the USB stick during this process.
