Yes indeed. I got the 'escutcheon' off. It took some thinking because there was this silicone putty stuff that was caked on holding it in the wall.

I was thinking if I was in your situation I would replace the first 90 with a tee and put the required plumbing at that point, however, after sleeping on it I realized this simplest solution could be a laundry tub with a pump. They typically have ~10-15 feet of head so you can just cut the pipe between the 45 and cleanout to install a wye and pump to that point. Most washing machine manufactures state data on their pumps.
Sounds like you've got the sleeve figured out, digging and sealing outside is the right path.
We are trying to replace our shower trim kit and we cannot for the life of us ID this thing. I do fear it may be a transfer shower valve...
Screws holes across are ~1 1/8 inch, ~1.5 inch across.
