Beyerdynamics are my personal favorite cans. I have a pair of DT990's and DT770's, and they are both some of the best cans I've ever used (once you get about $300+ for headphones, the sound quality is indistinguishable). Not to mention they're also some of the most comfortable cans out there too.
For electronic music, I have yet to hear a better pair of phones than my 770's, and they definitely won't break the bank.

What kind of headphones are you listening to the music on? Just mentioning it because I bought my first nice set of headphones around 3 years ago and it completely changed the way I listen to music. Previously I'd listen on iPhone earbuds and I'd have to crank up the volume so I could hear the details in the music like I wanted to. But with a nice pair of headphones, you can hear the details much more clearly at a reasonable volume.
It's so satisfying when you can hear all the separate instruments and sounds as distinct instead of being all muddled together. If you're using crappy or cheap headphones you might just be cranking it up to try and hear things better, but good headphones will make a world of difference. These are the ones I use. There are more expensive headphones out there of course, and these aren't the most durable, but the sound is incredible.
Anyway, you might already have nice headphones, in which case you already know everything I just said. Also I'm assuming you're using headphones not speakers here just because Ae makes the kind of hyper-detailed music that usually calls for headphones in my experience. But same advice applies to speakers — a little investment goes a long way.
Thanks! She's pretty awesome. Also, some of her music is on Amazon. Just bought what they had.

I just bought Electronic Music and Sound Design and am making my way through it now. I have a background in math and systems engineering, so I'm hoping I'll have something of a good foundation to explore ideas with. Definitely cool so far.
