Uber now charges $20 for the insulated box bags that they provide at their offices. My my current set up is this Insulated Bag that I purchased from Amazon for $13 instead. I recommend a Chrome Industries Excursion roll top 37 bag it's the bag that I use. It retails for $160, but you can get it for around $128 through City Grounds by using coupon code CG20. Good Luck.

Rode 10 pm-5 am at JJs for about a year, and now i work until 3 a.m very often.
This is my light: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=expillion+800&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aexpillion+800&ajr=2

This is my tailight: http://www.amazon.com/CatEye-Reflex-Bicycle-Safety-TL-LD570-R/dp/B003WCFJZE/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1414993256&sr=8-9&keywords=cat+eye+rear+light

I really love this rear light because it stops blinking if it hasnt moved in like 30 sec.

I really enjoy working night shifts because its much cooler where I live at night, I work at a college campus JJ's so night shifts are usually delivering to frats and sororities and a lot of drunk people. Night shifts are a lot more chill in my opinion as well.

Found a link to these on some road cycling forum. They feature a pretty high caloric density. And they also make a big mess with the seeds flaking off all over the place, so I usually eat them while riding or standing outside. If I need something more like a meal, there are usually food trucks hanging around my work area, even though I usually try to make it through my day without eating too much. And the obligatory free candy at reception desks.

This is the one I use by the way. It's jacketed in aluminum and it's proven to be pretty fuckin sturdy so far. Worth every penny imo.

a while ago i got real excited about this and managed to find out what movie it comes from. the whole film is called "The Need For Speed." it was made by a german film maker named Katarina Otto. you can actually order it on dvd from amazon, which i did. the dvd is a transfer from the original film. this german director lady actually hung out the window of a car shooting footage of bike messengers with 16mm film. we had a screening of it one night and it really delivers. theres much more to the film than just the x-men. including a weird 90's jazz-rock song about being a messenger that was recorded by a studio band exclusively for the film.

Best I could find:

I went to Staples and they didn't have any aluminum ones in store so they said order online. It costs almost twice as much:

So fuck Staples.
Go with amazon, it's not waterproof so just put it in your pack if it rains.

I've been using this $40 bag for several months now and I love it. I typically bungee it to my front porteur rack (there are 4 loops hanging just underneath the zipper to anchor it securely.) It also has a carry strap that can be worn cross shoulder while a strap with plastic quick release buckle goes around the waist which allows you to wear it while riding if that's your preference. It isn't as big as the Caviar bag but it suits the vast majority of the orders I do. I keep a thin foldable insulated grocery bag (OG Postmates freebie) stashed in there in case I have a larger order or need to break it up into 2 loads.

Hammer and cycle messenger service http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IACRLPM?pc_redir=1405954799&robot_redir=1 I've never read it, but your post reminded me I saw I book about book that takes place during the fall of the USSR. I spent the last day racking my brain trying to remember it.

Modular in the sense that you can lash a basket or box to it/hook things onto it.

Link is busted, this one works. I use straps similar to those.

Have to run a cable from my phone to my backup battery in my backpack or hip pouch. The phone is plugged in around 50% of the time to keep it from shutting down due to the cold.

I use this one, I wouldn't take that waterproof claim too seriously though: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017BI7HQI

Honestly lights. I ride at night all the time and it's just so dangerous to not have them. I know plenty of people do but as someone that drives nowadays it shocks me how hard it is to see a cyclist at night without lights.

This set is stupid bright for the price, has a reasonable non-seizure inducing strobe, and has been through hell and back with me (the charging cover falls off is the only downside)
