It's a funny thing, being able to see needs.

I've been developing for the past 6 or so years and finding needs is a task I only recently discovered. It seems like such a simple concept, but being able to see a need and fill it without being too complicated, loosing touch with the motivation of the need, and actually finishing the solution is tough.

I recently read a great book called, Start Small Stay Small, and it was comforting knowing that marketing of your product is way, way more important than it's feature set. That has been my credo the past few months.

If that is the extent of what you're doing, then yeah, you'll be just fine with a Chromebook. Chromebooks make for great internet machines, and not a whole lot else.

This is a great resource for figuring out what to use when there's a specific thing you want to do.

I honestly don't know much about the Asus Transformer, but a quick look tells me that this is running Windows 8. It looks like there are other versions that are running some form of Android/Windows8 hybrid thing, but I can't be bothered to figure out what's what.

If this was a decision I was going to make, I would go with the Asus Transformer, or some other similar Win8 tablet thing. It's going to allow you a much wider range things you can do with it, and Chromebooks are quite limited AFAIK. Unless the Chromebooks have expanded to allow a whole ton more programs/'apps', you are somewhat limited choices.

It's also worth noting that I believe (don't quote me on this) that some people have had success in installing a couple different Linux builds, but that was quite some time ago, and I don't know how far that whole scene has progressed.

> This whole multi-process thing started as a nice idea on paper and ended up as an awful implementation for the end-user.

In terms of creating a more stable browser as a whole, I think of it as a huge success. At least if 1 tab (or group of tabs under the same renderer) crash, you don't lose the entire browser.

Memory is pretty cheap, especially considering the performance gains. If you're having memory issues, upgrade... Aim for 16 GB and you'll never need to think of memory usage again (unless you're doing video rendering, etc.); you shouldn't have to think about this stuff.

I just went into the jungle and it looks like this may be one to try. One thing I was looking for here is this phrase:

>ScreenBeam USB Transmitter 2 (SBT200DI) extends the value of legacy devices and enables wireless display from Windows devices that lack native Miracast support

Because lots of them look like they are just for the TV side. As you have probably seen. I think this will get on my wish list too. I would suggest a USB extension in case you have positioning problems.

haroonie from the Google Chrome Forum sent me these directions which worked perfectly. Now, when I watch full screen 480p Hulu videos on my MacBook Pro, it no longer stutters using the new beta flash plugin.

Agreed. I would also look into this if you are serious about increasing Chome performance.

Ah, I will try getting the decoder. This is a Dell Inspiron Mini 10v, by the way, and it's passively cooled (no fan). The latest one seems to be this one, at least on Broadcom's website.. I know I have an empty mini PCI-e port, so it should work. Also, do you know if a mini PCI-e GPU would work at all with this netbook?

No. You can get an Asus Transformer Book running full windows for $362.99. It will do everything the chromebook does, plus windows applications. http://amzn.com/B00K0G2XA4

If the $200 price is a hard cap, then maybe, but there is still a 15" HP for $200. It might have a slow processor, but no worse than the current generation chromebooks. http://amzn.com/B00KCU5TIQ.

You could probably get a ChromeOS build from http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ and install on either if you really want ChromeOS.
