Maybe not quite so affordable, but cheaper than getting a trailer hitch installed... I have this one and love it. No messing with straps, super stable. Have been using an older model for probably 6 years now. Thule Raceway Pro 2-Bike Strap Rack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M542IKE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_vuRGDbXPHJ495
Looks like it's in great shape for it's age and mileage (163,420 miles for the metric-impaired like myself).

I have no idea when these batteries tend to fail, tbh. I would think no symptoms is a good sign. As for the coolant, I would definitely change it out for the OEM stuff. It won't cost you much and isn't a difficult job to do yourself, provided you know a place to recycle the old coolant.

I'm curious. Is this a manual or a CVT? How often did you change your transmission fluid (if at all)?
Edit: I snooped your profile and I see you have a manual. How's it holding up?
Depends how much you're going to use it afterward. If you're really just doing it for a trip across the country and have no plans to do anything else, you can get one of these: https://amazon.com/Rightline-Gear-100S30-Waterproof-Attaches/dp/B0012INT98 or something similar. I had a roof rack on my CR-Z, but my wife had one of these strapped to the roof of her Fit, and I think her's did better than an actual roof rack.
I saw this on sale today, apparently works great with carplay, check it out: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MF9W0GU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_0nuvzb86JX9GK
I've become a fan of the 3D MAXpider mats, front and back.
Here's the one I have for the CR-Z cargo space, with subwoofer:
https://www.amazon.com/3D-MAXpider-Cargo-Custom-All-Weather/dp/B00CH8R1QO
I use that on mine Thule 910XT Passage 2 Bike Trunk Mount Carrier, Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00152QOAC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fgRGDbM9JYAED
It's cheap but I had to added protection for the paint on the hooks and the button shouldn't put force on the bumper. Once it got deformed a little bit.
I know hitch exists for CR-Z, I would prefer using a rack that way.
