Yes, the air is a definite upgrade over the spark. But is it a definite upgrade over the pro? I don't think so. I'd think of it more as a pro alternative. I realize that you don't want to talk about range, but it's a valid pro for the pro (hah). From the things you listed, (mbps, no rear sensor, and a much more protected gimbal) yes, the air is better on paper.

It all depends on what you want. I like to be able to fly farther, so the pro's longer range and battery life matter more to me. I don't fly backwards around obstacles, so a backwards sensor isn't important to me, and even then I feel like because the sun already interferes with obstacle sensors I feel like that could lead to undue anger and confusion. The bitrate is better, but the average person isn't going to notice the difference. Even with the protected gimbal thing, you could buy something like this and get the same effect with the pro. Even then, if you crash either one of them it's game over for the gimbal on both.

I'd still buy the pro even with the air out.

These are things i bought when i got my Mavic that I love.

This charger - https://www.amazon.com/Grounded-Powerextra-Platinum-Intelligent-Batteries/dp/B06X94L9P7/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1543403265&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=mavic+pro+charger&psc=1

Able to charge all 3 batteries at the same time as well as usb ports for phone and remote.

Lipo bag for carrying batteries when travelling. I also charge in these for safety.

I'd love an ND1000 filter for some long exposure photos

This is a minor $10 but this gimball holder and cover is much easier than the fiddly one that comes with the drone.

hope this helps.

EDIT: Found this pack of filters that I've now just bought - https://www.amazon.com/Freewell-Exposure-Photography-Compatible-Platinum/dp/B07DZVTKJZ/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1543403850&sr=8-7&keywords=freewell+mavic+pro+nd1000

My solution, which I've only really tried once (and it was a success), is to use a camelBak backpack filled with hot water, as well as to use an insulated carrying case for the Mavic. The carrying case has the added benefit of not needing to take the propellers off so it's very fast to take off and put away.

Case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZZW91A/

CamelBak: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ID29OVI/

Edit: I warmed the water to about 160 degrees Fahrenheit (CamelBak says not to put boiling water in) and was outside for about an hour in 20 degree Fahrenheit weather before flying. The Mavic stayed warm and I didn't get any warnings. I doubt it would have stayed warm if out for more than a few hours. A better solution might be to just take the battery off and put it in my pocket.

Friend of mine was doing this so I copied. it works extremely well.

Case Holds Mavic + Battery, 3 more batteries and my old note4 I use to fly with.

For quick grab and go, I grab that and the controller separate with the stick guards in a backpack or something.

For everything I have this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005VTIMEQ/

Above case fits perfect inside it with the controller in the main pocket with lots of extra room. Top pocket has adv charger and phantom 4 charger plus props, etc. All in one bag essentially.

Its small and works well

I have a hard case for my Mavic but I wanted something easier to carry around. Got this bag: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Sling-Backpack-SLR-Cameras/dp/B005VTIMEQ and it fits the Mavic plus accessories (three batteries, home and car charger, spare props) very nicely. I used the foam that came with the extra batteries to make them fit a bit more snugly.

Ordered! Thanks!! There was a question on amazon for this, that someone asked if it came with the rubber bands / dampeners and the response was no. Im guessing that was in regards to a different product.

Thanks for the help!

I have this one.

It’s awesome and folds up super tiny. It fits my iPhone 7 in landscape mode and my iPad Air.

  1. Let your Mavic sit out in the cold (without a battery) for a few minutes (at least 5) before you pop in a warm battery and take off.

This helps reduce condensation frost from forming in your barometer. The barometer is the most sensitive instrument in your Mavic to moisture.

  2. Slap Adhesive toe warmers on the back of your phone or tablet to extend its battery life in the cold. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0007ZF4PE/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1485609578&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Little+Hotties+Adhesive+Toe+Warmers

  3. The batteries warm themselves up in flight, but in extreme cold (-5 or colder) the same adhesive toe warmers could be used on the Mavic Battery. They don't add much weight. Disclaimer: I haven't tested this on the Mavic, but we've used this trick for years on DIY built drones with "naked lipos" (a lipo without a plastic case).

Thanks for the fast reply. Have you used these filters with a lens hood? Curious if they clear.

There's an alternative to MavMount that's considerably cheaper and just as good: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N7RFDBA/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Been using it for about a month now and it has worked really well and seems to be built to last.

u/khanline · 1 pointr/djimavic

don't know how i lived without them! Really comes in play for bright times of the sunset, then i remove them after the sun starts to hide.

Got my carrying case from Amazon today! Inner compartment holds my Mavic (charger, controller, props, extra batteries) my GoPro plus two extra batteries, and my DSLR with two lenses (one tele lens), batteries and charger. Plenty of extra space for my portable HD, power bank, memory cards and necessary charging cables.

The DJI website says the max write speed is 60mbps
https://www.dji.com/mavic/info

I just ordered this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HU3Q6S4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Which is a Class 1 V30 and does exactly 60mbps. I should probably return it and get the class 10 but I'm going to see how well this works.

I have a 2-piece windshield cover that's meant to go inside your car against the windshield to block out the sun on hot days.
They fold up real small.
I just use one as a landing pad.
They're small, lightweight and easy to carry around.

I have a Lowepro Slingshot 202 and I can fit my Sony a6000, 2 small lenses, 1 medium zoom, 3 extra camera batteries, a couple filters, Mavic and controller, JOBY GorillaPod, and charging cables for camera and Mavic. I'll try to remember to update tonight with some pictures of my setup with some measurements.

I saw the 6 pack on Amazon for $80 for a bit while they were out of stock. As soon as they were back in stock the price jumped up to $150 (which is what it's listed for on the PolarPro website).

Is this the set you're referring to? If so, where did you pick it up?

Mine isn't showing a date on my order page. I linked to the product page where it no longer defaults to Amazon as the vendor.

Amazon link....

It shows the Deluxe bundle as still being available Jan 15th. Base package, which is what i ordered, now defaults to third party showing Jan 31st.

u/MagnificentSyndicate · 2 pointsr/djimavic

The Polar Pro filters are the ones I've heard people talk about most, and for some reason they're currently way cheaper on Amazon than their own website. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MQUMIQ4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1

This is the backpack I have. Have both my DSLR and my Mavic Pro Fly More Combo in it, along with some external hard drives, etc. So far, so good.

I've done it a few times powering on but caught it before take off. A few people were mentioning this on another forum to combine the 2 pieces so you don't forget again.

advanced hub wears it out a bit more but its not noteable at the end you maybe get 5 flights less with the battery. But it woud be cheaper to get the fly more and use the car chargeer with an adapter to power plug to charge faster https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0196DXEBI/

u/t3hShadow · 1 pointr/djimavic

It's not a hard case, but I picked up one of these to throw in my bag. I get my mavic Wednesday, so I can give you an update then.

I haven't bought it yet but I'm looking at this

From a similar post on here I previously bought this one which is meant for a VR headset but fits just the Mavic, controller, 2 sets of spare props and a SD card adapter.

u/Explain_Like_Im_3 · 2 pointsr/djimavic

These are two different items connected by standard molle strap system

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KN66QRQ/

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019MM1NC/

I put some foam in the top and bottom of the big case, and cut a slit down the smaller case to allow the sticks to stick out. The pouch in the front is big enough for the charger. It could, perhaps, fit a spare battery or 2 instead.

Would post more pictures but imgur is being weird.

Polar Pro offers a "cinema" version of filters that supposedly won't mess with gimbal calibration so you can leave them on... 2x the price though and no reviews yet - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQUNS20/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_Ik-AybN99CVT6
