> The bass trigger is super dented (on the right side of a double bass pedal setup) from all kinds of non-drummer and Keith Moon/ Dave Ghrol wannabes stomping the pedal like Edward Norton in American History X
Haha, brilliant!
That's great news. If I had to choose between losing my balls or losing my kit, I would gladly offer my nuts on a plate first.
Hectic, that looks like a black tennis ball drum beater... I actually wrapped bandage around mine to keep the noise down, and it works!
Thanks for your thoughts. When you say a MIDI interface, do you mean something like this:

I was planning on getting something like that so I can have more inputs for sounds with some of the PD-7s or PD-9s that came with my deal. But otherwise, I'm just going to plug my TD-10 into a computer with a MIDI/USB cable for the software you mention. It is definitely in the plans, but I've focused on setting up Phase Shift first so I can start playing some songs. The learning curve has been steep, but I think I've got it all set up.

I've also started the restoration of one of the PD-120's. I may be done with some pictures tomorrow....
Here's a (more expensive but pretty versatile) alternative - mini mixer - you'll want some cables to go with that (3.5mm to L+R jack from phone to mixer plus a stereo 6.35mm to jack from edrum brain to mixer) then plug your headphones into the mixer too. You could also pipe the output to your computer to record what you're doing so you can hear your progress.
Huge nono. Felt will rip the shit out of mesh. Get a cheap double bass kick patch on amazon and you will be fine. My iron cobras came with plastic and felt on the other side which was convenient.

I have this one https://www.amazon.com/Evans-Double-Pedal-Patch-Black/dp/B0002D0DWK/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=drum+patch+evans&qid=1564164850&s=gateway&sr=8-2
I use a remote hat with my td-50k, dw 9000, works great. I use a Gibraltar clamp like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002NIMA0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
On my right upright, with the stands arm at a 90 degree angle. Plenty secure.
Im in the same boat as you, i just plink around at home. Due to finding a good deal on used I went with a Traynor Block12. I was missing that bass drum kick sound so i got a Polk PSW10 to go with it. Then I used a https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B005KBM160/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B003L1AGVS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to connect the two together.
I also hook up a microphone and a bass guitar to the Traynor plus you could use a keyboard as well. But you might want to consider a cheap bass amp to separate some of the sounds, but see how it works first.
You can kind it see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/edrums/comments/d8drn4/td17kvx_upgraded_floor_tom/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share how I have my music tower in front of the kit. Sub on the floor, traynor above it, a Franken amp above that and then a Boss katana 50 above that with guitar/bass wall hangars on the side of the tower to save some space.
Hey! I wanted to spend as little as possible and have been seriously enjoying my choice to pair a mini PA with a home theatre subwoofer. This amp has a subwoofer out plug, so I can adjust my mids and highs on the amp and my lows on the sub itself. Better yet, if you want more of a 'sound environment' you can pick up a pair of these speakers and mount them on either side of your kit and control them together.

You might have issues if it's a headset with mic (with a 4-pole TRRS connector). I have some Turtle Beach XO One's and I noticed that while it seemed to work, the sound was a bit weird - the vocals sounded slightly weird (like they were under water!).
I think it was because of the 4-pole connector on the headset. When I plugged the headset into an adapter like this and then the green plug into the Nitro kit (nothing is plugged into the pink end), everything is perfect!

With this. And yes it will easily fit a TD-17

I have an Alesis Command kit and have had this same issue.
I first encountered it when I tried using an Amazon Basics USB cable, and it would occur to me exactly as you describe it.
I originally had a much shorter cable which worked fine (was from an old printer), so I bought a Monoprice USB Extender.
The same thing still happens sometimes, but when I unplug/replug the USB cable from the module instead of the PC and then restart Reaper and EZdrummer, it all works fine (I suck).
I would suggest getting a higher quality USB AB cable, and then getting the extender and trying your luck with that.
I'm not entirely sure if it's an Alesis issue, or if we both got bad cables coincidentally, but that's what has worked for me. I hope this helps!
So … I have a TD-6 that's over ten years old. I was having trouble with the triggers not firing. Pulled the heads off, and yeah, the cones are squashed. I did the same searches I'm sure you're doing. Official cones are about the price you've found. Don't try contacting Roland directly - they won't respond.
I fixed my kit myself, for a couple bucks.
Go buy one or two of the thick yellow sponges meant for cleaning your car - like this one, thought I bet you could find even cheaper. Cut it to shape, maybe just a little too tall to ensure the head holds it down. Use double-stick tape to stick it to the piezo.
I have no idea how long this will hold up, since my practice is rather sporadic recently. But, it got the triggers firing nicely.
Add a patch to your kick and save the underlying fabric from wear and tear

I use the usb / midi cable below to connect my Roland Td-9 to my Mac - works for Windows too. Not sure about Windows but on the Mac you can then use Garage Band or Logic to record the input. It's $39 and works well and does not require drivers. I use this setup with Addictive Drums, Roland pads and Roland RT10T triggers on my drums with mesh heads.

If you're okay with the additional toms being single-zone, I know my Yamaha DTX-500 (I think) supports using splitters to double the tom ports.
In other words, I have six toms hooked up, two to each tom port. They currently trigger the same MIDI notes, but only because I haven't really figured out what I'm going to do with them. Note that's done with dual mono -> stereo cables.
I'm also duplicating my crash (just convenient to have one on the left and right) and the double bass pedals, FWIW. Those are done with dual stereo -> stereo cables. Each side has the same zones, but who cares?
So, anyway, I have a decent number of triggers on the head unit I started with. Only complaint is that I had to upgrade my rack, which is now some Frankenstein-ish thing.
these are cheaper than the splitters you will find on drumsplitters.com and work fine with TD-6v https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000068O54/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
don't buy more than 2 since you can only split 2 inputs.
I would recommend this if you're using the felt side of the BD pedal beater. The foam will probably get dents in it from use, but a month seems too soon.

That's not my drums. But this is what I use on mine: https://www.amazon.com/KAT-Percussion-KT-TBB-Silent-Strike/dp/B00DDXM77A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1495558154&sr=8-2&keywords=drum+kick+ball
A lot of bucks but here's what I got for recording and the drums.

once you go black you never go backIf the problem is at the triggervend of the cable, you could cut and redo the plug end with [a new connector end](GLS Audio 1/4" Right Angle Plugs TS Mono Flat Low Profile Pancake Style for Speaker Cables, Patch Cables, Snakes - Male 1/4 Inch Phono 6.3mm Phone Plug Bulk - 4 PACK https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CX5AN7K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_W3dJzbCSY3NZQ) just keep in mind the tight space on the cymbal where the jack is, it might be tough finding one that fits. Also be sure to get a TRS tip so you don't lose a zone accidentally.
It's probably the cheapest fix, but maybe not the best.

Terrible triggers, plastic heads with practically no rebound, terrible onboard practice songs. Not even a kick drum. 3/10.
