Keep doors to unused rooms closed. Electric is very efficient, it's just that it's usually more expensive than gas. Light bulbs double as 100 percent efficient heaters. Fans on low generate heat and, if spinning in the proper direction help circulate warm air from the ceiling. Depending on your gas heater, some thermoelectric fans are pretty helpful.

Agree with the CO monitors. I have a Nest monitor and it doubles as a nice nightlight.

If you have electric baseboards or forced air, they can be more efficiently controlled with a new thermostat. Chances are you have the shitty twist knob ones that heat the room to 90 then turn off until it's 50 again.

I tried to get the funds together to buy a bunch of portable showers and hand them out, then they just need to find a spot to tap some water from. I then got hit by some rough finances and had to put it on hold, but if anyone's interested, here's an amazon link to a cheap portable shower:

As my finances have finally normalized, I'm planning to do this exact thing soon. I may not be able to buy tons, but I can buy a couple with instructions to share.

Shouldn't this be the responsibility of the insurance company to clean up? Just because the owner found a piece of paper with a name on it doesn't mean they were the thief. Mail and ID's get stolen just as often if not more than cars. I get that these people are frustrated but it seems like there anger is pointed in the wrong direction. Given that this is the second time the car was stolen I'm going to venture a guess and say the owner needs to get a club for his old ass honda.
