This is probably more of a question for a neurologist than a psychologist, but - have you read Delusions of Gender? I found it to be pretty damned compelling but it's well outside of my field of study so I can't gauge how authoritative it is. Thoughts?

Here's the original source text on HAES to get you started. The Kindle edition is only $1.99. And it's a really engaging read.

It's tough to cite a source for something that isn't there. I seem to recall there being some discussion in Gender Development by Golombok and Fivush, though I may be misremembering that. I think the best case is to point to all of the research that's published that finds no gender differences-- in social psychology (and I would wager in most other areas, as well) it's standard practice to check for statistically significant differences by gender in all of your data. Many studies report this analysis, and state that no differences were found. Most studies just don't report it if they don't find anything. So that is to say that the vast majority of psychological and neurological research finds no gender differences at all.

I think the book Half the Sky and then the subsequent documentaries are what really brought the issue to the forefront of serious women's issues that need to be addressed. Because it's essentially been eliminated in America, not to mention the obvious taboo of talking openly about vaginal tearing and leaking feces through the vagina, it's an issue that a majority of people are completely unfamiliar with. I've even seen several TIL's about it in terms of how gross it is and the comments on the posts would belong in /r/imgoingtohellforthis if they had any idea just how deadly, miserable, and prevalent this condition really is.

Louis CK also donated profits from his self-funded album to the Fistula Foundation, bringing even more awareness.

Unfortunately I can't, as I have them in print. It sounds like this study might be relevant... but I can't read it.

I'm sorry. I know it looks bad when someone says they have evidence but can't produce it. This is the book I use in my sociology of gender class, it contains excerpts from and references to a lot of studies about police involvement in rape cases. To paraphrase:

Ullman et all, 2007 talks about the stigma that rape victims face when they disclose what happened to them.

Caromgella 2009, Weiss 209 talk about how rape victims must show that they are "worthy" victims in order to be respected by the police. This includes reporting the assault promptly, showing emotional and physical trauma, and convincing authorities that they are not "responsible" for the crime.

Victims must show "respectable behavior" and are more likely to be held responsible for their own rape if they are voluntarily intoxicated or dressed "provocatively." (Whatley 2005, Gidycz, McNamara & Edwards 2006, Angelone, Mitchell, & Pilafova 2007.)

Claims of rape by some women, including prostitutes and drug addicts, are routinely dismissed (Zweig, Schlister, & Burt 2002, Page 2008). Claims of rape by men, especially gay men, are also routinely dismissed.

Although acquaintance rape is much more common than rape by a stranger (73% of rapes are acquaintance rapes - Truman 2011), women raped by an acquaintance are much less likely to report the crime (Neville & Pugh 1997, Sudderth 1998, Washington 2011).
