This is the case I've been using. It feels pretty good and it's really cheap. However it's a bit bulkier than I expected and it's a nightmare trying to take it off. It's an alright case if you don't plan on taking it off much.

I'm getting this case tomorrow. I decided to try out a flip case since I really disliked the feel and look of a glass screen protector but I still wanted a bit of protection for the screen. I also really liked the feel of the flip case on my friends one plus one and the one I bought for my tablet. It'll definitely have less protection around the corners though. I'll let you know how it goes.

edit: The Rock case is pretty nice. The fake leather feels great. It's a super slim case. This also means there's not a lot of protection. You do get a little protection on the top corners and the bottom left corner. The s pen is fairly exposed. The sides are well covered though. Personally I really like this case. If I'm going to get incredibly drunk I'm putting on a more protective case though.

I've used the commuter cases on several phones. They are not too bulky. I have a Caseology case on my phone right now and it added very little bulk or weight but I don't believe is as protective as the Otterbox. On thing I will say about the Caseology case, it is attractive. If your phone gets tossed around a lot then I would go with the commuter, but that is my preference. Otterbox also makes a one-piece symmetry line that is lighter still, but does so at the expense of the durability and protective quality that Otterbox is know for. Keep in mind that if you purchase from Amazon returns are very easy.

If you need a screen protector, I'm going to shill for Tech Armor, their ballistic glass screen protectors look classy IMO, are also easy to install and have a great warranty. Tech Armor Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Premium Ballistic

I am in no way affiliated or profit from sales of these products, simply a satisfied customer.

u/BlackBeanTaco · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

I know where you are coming from, because I probably posted the same thread when I first bought my Note 5 lol, but this is really a tough question to answer, since there are so many options and personal taste plays such a big roll.

HOWEVER

I am currently using the [Verus High Pro Shield] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VQKYSF6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00) in Titanium and I love it. Slim enough, solid protection and fit, and in my opinion it looks great.

Plus, it is down to $14 shipped with Prime on Amazon. Hard to beat.

My real suggestion is, though, to just narrow it down to a few top choices and buy them, test them out, and return some.

Happy Noting!

This is the shell case I have. I like it, but it is definitely not meant to handle a drop or anything like that.

I also use this when I want some extra protection. Usually at the gym. The phone still slips in with the shell case on. I think it's a pretty sweet setup.

u/Profnemesis · 3 pointsr/galaxynote5

this is the best case ever. Hands down. I will never recommend any case but this for this phone. It's thin, it's tough, it keeps the camera from hitting the surface you're putting it down on. I was running a race, my phone fell out of my pocket, fell to my foot and I kicked it into a metal pole. Fine. Perfectly fine. Not one scratch or dent. My girlfriend was so impressed by the look and feel of this case that she got one for her S7. Because of that we often grab the wrong phone. Lol.

And the Samsung wireless charging pad is nice, but I much prefer simply plugging it into a fast charger. I got these cables so I have all the room in the world to be able to use my phone and have it on power.

u/YLsmash · 3 pointsr/galaxynote5

I have this tempered glass protector by JETech and it has been great. One thing to know is that there's a few mm around the sides it doesn't cover because the note has curved edges. It was easy to apply, provides amazing protection, and didn't change the look, feel, or premium quality of the phone at all. I'm really picky when it comes to this kind of stuff and I can't even notice that it's on! Highly recommend.

u/DieWunderJahre · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

The Crystal Bumper from Verus is pretty nice, I like that the back is curved to follow the phone, and it seems pretty sturdy. I'm not afraid to drop it, for sure.

u/oceanussomnia · 3 pointsr/galaxynote5

I think any Spigen case is great. I have this one, which I personally found a little bit more aesthetically pleasing.

As for covers similar to the Clear View, there's tons of similar, cheaper options online, like this one.

u/rzk0000 · 2 pointsr/galaxynote5

For fast wireless charging, you need a fast wireless charger and a fast charge AC adapter (like the one that came with your Note 5).

I tried a bunch of them:

Samsung's version has a built in fan. Keeps your phone nice and cool. A bit placement sensitive.

Choetech single coil. Cheap. Works well. A bit placement sensitive.

Choetech 3 coil. Works well. Not placement sensitive. My favorite so far.

Like the other commenter, I only have a Commuter case. This case is flawless. I bet it could fit a Defender.

u/MBoTechno · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

This one is not quick.

I know these two that I would trust and that do support quick wireless charging:

Samsung's own Quick Wireless Charger

Choetech's Fast Wireless Charger

Keep in mind that you need a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0-approved power brick and a good enough cable for quick wireless charging to work. Samsung's Adaptative Fast Charger works too.

u/TheRealMcCoy95 · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

Spigen Slim Armor really great case, just as good as otter box if not better for a third of the price. Had one on my Nexus 5, my Dad's s5 and now my note 5. Dropped countless times not a scratch on the phone. 10/10 would recommend

u/Slandec · 3 pointsr/galaxynote5

I just got these off Amazon. Two pack, good quality, easy application. Had on for a couple weeks now and very happy. No halo effect for me.

u/Waibashi · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

My 2 cents for Zagg. I had experience with their older products back in the iPhone 4 era. They're overpriced for nothing. Better alternative everywhere. They would get damage very easily.

Now, in 2016, I don't know how their tempered glass is. But at work, I deployed tons of screen protector from this brand

https://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Protector-JETech-Tempered-Samsung/dp/B0132XCT0U/ref=sr_1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1472868681&sr=1-5&keywords=tempered+glass+screen+note+5

I can say, they are really well done for the price. The only downside is it doesn't cover all the screen. The protector leaves borders are the screen in case you put a case.

Personally, I stopped using shield since Nexus 4. With Gorrila Glass, you are safe. Though, I am not doing any construction work ... but I got kids, and they tested the screen many times.

Hope that helps.

Get the Choetech Fast Wireless Charger for $27. It works great.

http://www.amazon.com/Fast-Charge-Wireless-Charger-Qi-Enabled/dp/B015351VC2?th=1&psc=1

Edit: I have the white and it looks tasteful on the nightstand. Very small, well made. The black accessories look a little to 1990s to me for some reason (Apple maybe?).

u/darcstar62 · 2 pointsr/galaxynote5

I don't like big cases that take away from the aesthetics of the phone. For that reason, I chose the Spigen Slim Armor. The kickstand is nice for netflix viewing, the raised edges protect the screen in face-down mode, and it's easy to grip without being difficult to get in/out of my pocket. Good price and no regrets.

u/blackesthearted · 7 pointsr/galaxynote5

I have a lot of cases and switch between them pretty often but I've been using this Ringke Fusion Crystal case for a few weeks now and it's probably my favorite. Basic protection and very slim.

u/coppergone · 8 pointsr/galaxynote5

This case made by Versus. It looks slick as hell, fits perfectly, allows easy access to the headphone jack, USB, and stylus, and has saved my phone after a few drops from significant height.

u/Leonarthius · 2 pointsr/galaxynote5

This is my case. The amazon description shows all that you need. This case looks amazing in person, even more so than the pictures. I have the black/blue model, but I'm sure the gunmetal version of this will suit your needs.

u/Nonchemical · 2 pointsr/galaxynote5

Verus High Pro Shield. http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Verus-Shield-Steel-Silver/dp/B00VQKYSF6

Looks nice, good grip, soft corners. Yes it makes a big phone bigger, but after a day or two you don't even think about it anymore. The other nice thing is it's raised a bit above the glass on the edges so you have less tenancy to accidentally press one of the buttons or the screen while holding the phone.

No complaints from me, happy with my choice.

u/jook11 · 3 pointsr/galaxynote5

I have this one and I love it

u/aetrix · 2 pointsr/galaxynote5

I have this Spigen. One piece, very thin, matte finish is fine to hang on too. Not the most beautiful case I've ever owned, but good enough for the price.

u/Dakupo · 2 pointsr/galaxynote5

OMOTON 3322750 9H Ultra-Clear Anti-Scratch Tempered-Glass Screen Protector 2.5D Round Edge for Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Pack of 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013R6TG0I/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_FHuXzb17TYSG0

Absolute best one. 2 pk and cheap. No rainbow, pen works, no halo, and easy install. Try it

u/VashTStamp · 5 pointsr/galaxynote5

Honestly, I use this guy. It's light weight and clear so it keeps some of the general aesthetics of the phone, since I would prefer to use no case. But, from previously rough lessons learned, I have found that a slightly less attractive looking phone beats a broken/busted/unable to use phone by a long shot. I also used a tempered glass screen protector. I have dropped my phone plenty of times, and everything is doing just fine still.

Of course it only takes one good unlucky drop to break your phone. I.e. dropping it just right onto a sharp object to throw a heavy force onto the screen and break it. If you are paranoid about that kind of stuff, a beefier case can't hurt, but if not I think the case I linked does more than enough.

u/aafm · 3 pointsr/galaxynote5

Just found this today, was going to buy it soon. Spigen is a very good brand

u/iTzKPanda · 6 pointsr/galaxynote5

Started off with a rhino shield bumper but then I got my hands on this caseology case.

I have the gold platinum note 5 and I think it matches the color scheme of the case really well. I really dig the look of it.

u/mrquaid · 3 pointsr/galaxynote5

I just bought this S-Pen from Amazon for $11. I can't tell any difference from original:

iOttie's qi mount is the good stuff. I use Waze for my 1hr commute to and from work, and it'll trickle charge enough that the battery drain is minimal.

u/ijaaz · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

I have a solid mounting solution for my car that sits nicely out of the way and still accessible. Took a few tries, but settled on this combination:

iottie QI charger, connected to a ram mount ball, mounted to my dash via proclip.

Literally just got this is week after trying several others in the comments. IT IS PERFECT. Soft sand paper grip but not too sticky.

u/z9nine · 2 pointsr/galaxynote5

I use this one. You have to use a compatible fast charge wall plug and it does not come with one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015351VC2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_M533wbX09TQ98

I like it, though I don't use it often.

u/Chrono32123 · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

I just ordered off Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014R9B7VU/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_Zoq5xbAH7H299

Sorry I'm on mobile right now so formatting is hard. They also have other colors. And 3rd party replacements for half the cost of the OEM.

u/burntfuck · 2 pointsr/galaxynote5

I got the spigan slim armor case the edges are raised a little which keeps your fingers from accidentally touching the screen. It's a good case.

On a previous phone I used a softer screen protector and the pen dug into the protector.

Can't stand it. too slippery. Added a BearMotion case to just give it a little bit of extra grip and that's all I needed.

u/fitcheroo · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

I've been at work and at home while experiencing it, so I don't think it's my environment. I have an Urban Armor Gear case (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011ERM9RE/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awd_X6rEwbWKHN7FZ) so I don't think it's the case..

u/FlawedPrototype · 1 pointr/galaxynote5

I use the black titanium Dbrand skin for everyday use and the Spigen Liquid Crystal Case if i'm doing anything that can have my phone fall or get hit.

u/TxMikey · 3 pointsr/galaxynote5

I love the Spigen Rugged Armor.

The texture is not slippery but it also isn't super sticky feeling so it doesn't catch the material if you put it in your pocket. I've never dropped my phone really badly but the case seems to provide plenty of protection.
