> Are there any particular mixed reality applications that you would like to see?

> Is there any existing content that you would like to see in mixed reality?

>Since you wrote a book on Dungeons and Dragons, how do you see augmented reality enhancing it, and other similar games?

I'm combining these questions because they've got the same answer: I can't wait to have AR in my tabletop games. One of the first applications I thought of when I saw it in action was AR gaming; if everyone at a table is wearing a headset, they can all see the same animated, interactive board on the table. Imagine playing a game of Risk where the board has weather patterns and all the battles are animated out in 3D glory.

In D&D and other role-playing games, we'll be able to get rid of our primitive battle-mats and miniatures, and replace them with virtual versions. And I'm particularly excited about the possibility of having virtual players at the table; my campaigns have lost a lot of great players when friends move away, and it will be amazing to play with their AR avatar at the table, just like they're

> What do-it-yourself skills would you like to learn?

I want an MR coach to teach me how to fence, or Pai Mei to teach me kung fu. I am a stereotype, and I am okay with that.

> As a journalist, how do think augmented reality will improve journalism?

It's one thing to read a story; it's entirely another to experience it. AR will allow journalists to literally step into their readers lives and give them a chance to really connect with a story. I think it's going to be an amazing tool that helps increase understanding and empathy.

> Since you wrote a book on virtual reality, what do you think VR needs in order to gain mainstream adoption?

Can I use this spot to plug said book --which is actually about VR and AR-- and say that it comes out next summer, and is available for preorder?

Seriously, though, what VR needs is simple: lower prices, better hardware, and most of all, much much more content.

Mirror Worlds is a book from 1992 by David Galernter. The dude had quite a lot figured out then, and some of his ideas inspired movies like The Matrix.

Long story short, mirror worlds are virtual copies of reality where we can run infinite experiments. Something companies like SpatialOS are trying to market with their technology's ability to simulate a bagillion(or is it bajillion?) entities all interacting in a complex system. Innovation accelerant.

that sounds pretty cool- I hope you get that working!

I bought a periscope style camera attachment thinking I could maybe use the rear camera for Arkit/ArCore tracking but that tracking is so tied to holding a camera forward I couldn't get it to work

I have this headset as well which can use ARKit/ARCore , but the FOV is still pretty low, you still have cross reflections, the device is pretty uncomfortable and even the quality of glass didn't seem as good as the effect on Mira, etc . I was using Holokit sdk and it needed some further offsets to have things be at correct height

This case was recommend to us a few months ago by someone that works at Magic Leap:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CX4D25Y/

Adding a 2nd small bag would be useful for the charging cables as the included bag isn't big enough for everything.

Yep, you're right. I hadn't even thought to look on Amazon. Now I'm curious what that bump on the waveguide is.

Thanks, it's this one. Warning, it is snug and I keep the lens cloth over the lenses when packing it to reduce any friction.

It leaves a sour taste in my mouth as well.. It may have happened too.. may have to read a book to find out. or maybe not... Ugh.. I mean it says.. it's detailed in that book. dunno though.

>so as long as they dont have any biological part in them and they have no actual feelings

Lol. What makes you think you have actual feelings? I think therefore I am. It thinks therefore it is, and it will think quicker and better. It will have a larger brain and more room for improvement.

>I think its just farfetched to think that a robot AI woman made for acting as your partner is ever going to get out of control and use a gun to shoot stuff, they will make sure that it will be a safe tech obviously, its going to be their number one priority, to make sure such a thing isnt going to ever happen with an AI robot.

You can't box in an AI like that. You can make it safe enough for market, but sooner or later one is going to go rogue and one is all it takes.

>I think robots are not to be afraid of at all, the real threat to humanity is humanity itself...

How many AI's have you built? How much do you know about the topic? I'm glad you're more of an expert then idiots like Elon Musk and Steven Hawking. AGI is rediculusly dangarous, and using that tech for a sex toy is beyond stupid and irresponsible. Then again we're more then likely to get AGI over the next couple decades and this Reddit will stay that lang. So when some abused AGI goes back and starts looking for who to blame... well I wouldn't want to be you dude...
Here is a book to read https://www.amazon.com/Life-3-0-Being-Artificial-Intelligence/dp/1101946598/ref=pd_bxgy_14_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=1101946598&pd_rd_r=VRR6AQ5K4WE1BXNWW0EP&pd_rd_w=FIKob&pd_rd_wg=x2u0q&psc=1&refRID=VRR6AQ5K4WE1BXNWW0EP

Look man if you're unhappy Openwater will give you matrix you can be anything in
https://www.reddit.com/r/openwaterBCI/
Dev kits this year, consumer product the next. As soon as they get enough data and they will they will be running a full blown matrix. Smell, touch, everything... No need to endanger humanity by messing with stuff you really shouldn't mess with. AGI is better off doing more significant things.
