The production code is listed in the last frame of the credits of each episode--see a column of them here. In the context of MASH, I know it is a pretty strong indication of what order episodes were written in, although they weren't always broadcast in the same order or even intended to be. For instance, when Netflix uploaded S6-11 of the series, they originally listed them in production order--this led to a continuity error where Period of Adjustment (when Klinger has trouble being the full-time Company Clerk) was listed before Radar even went home in Goodbye Radar.

Now, I'm not 100% sure what the production code is intended for, although there's a pretty strong correlation between the letter and the season...so my guess is that those "1-G" episodes were all written as a batch, between seasons, and intended for Season 10, but some of them got carried over.

EDIT: Sorry, just realized I didn't really answer your question. I'm sure I noticed the original discrepancies years ago, when my dad printed off an entire episode guide for me. I'll second TPB. But if you love the show, please consider supporting it by purchasing the full collection when you have the means. Honestly at $102 it's a steal for all 11 seasons PLUS the movie and bonus features.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply it was custom, just made by an Asian tailoring company in an Asian style to appeal to a western market. From the mid 40's to the mid 70's many Asian manufactures tried to adapt their products to sell to westerners due to the large influx of western buyers after WW2. It could be a product that existed for only 30 years or so then disappeared when the market went away.

The Martinis and Medicine Complete Collection looks good because it has some extra reunion specials and such. I bought mine season by season as they were released in the late 90's. So I don't have this set.

Here you go. This book started it all. The franchise grew progressively further away from it though, as it's much closer in feel to the movie than any of the show.
The book spawned a plethora of sequels (most of them by a different author) that I have not read, but I'm sure someone here has.

I got that set last year, and ran into the problem that every disc had been scratched by the packaging to the point that one or more episode per disc was unplayable. I'm not sure if you would run into the same problem, but there are a lot of comments on Amazon with people who say the same thing.

It's my understanding that he was only under contract to appear in half of the episodes during his last couple seasons on the show. If you make note of the episodes in which he appears during those seasons, you'll see that this is true.
