I realize I'm in the minority here, but I really don't like this for so many reasons including:

  • the 10x increased waste / transport cost of paper bag replacements
  • the sheer convenience of free plastic bags and their myriad advantages over paper: light, handles, waterproof (as a parent this is huge), airtight
  • Currently the grocery store is the place where I recycle much of the mailer packaging I receive from online shopping, popped VacPacs and whatnot. You'll see a message on them that says "recycle with plastic bags". If the grocery store no longer uses plastic bags what incentive is there for them to keep and empty those recycle bins?
  • government overreach; I'm as liberal as they come but freedom is f-cking important. Bans are serious business.

For those that need plastic bags here's a link to the ones I have purchased. If you time it right you can get 900 for $10.

Great photos of creepy Dogtown! I've hiked it a couple of times and find the contrast between the old time photos and today, show how quickly the forest has filled in. For those interested in more on Dogtown, I highly enjoyed this book, "The Last Days of Dogtown" by Anita Diamant (https://www.amazon.com/Last-Days-Dogtown-Novel/dp/0743225740)

Literally a $25 kit on Amazon for brewing beer at home. You don't even need to be 21 to buy it.

Teenagers, by and large, are not getting marijuana, alcohol, or any other drug by growing, producing, or manufacturing them at home, despite the relative ease of doing so. Between the effort of the actual process, the effort of hiding it from their parents, the cost of setting up, and the delayed gratification, it's an extreme minority of kids doing stuff like this.

Legalizing and regulating is by far the most effective way to keep marijuana out of kids' hands.

These cases occur often enough and spread out enough that, if these men are being killed, it's probably not just by one person.

As for how often and where, see these links for other similar cases:
