I haven't read the books yet, but the comics are fairly enjoyable. Not mind-blowing amazing, but they certainly expand your knowledge and enjoyment of the Mass Effect universe as a whole.
Dark Horse recently released a Library Edition hardcover of the comics. It includes (no spoilers):
The only released comics that aren't in this collection are Blasto: Eternity is Forever (a single-issue story about, who else, Blasto, the hanar spectre), He Who Laughs Best (a single-issue Joker "origin" story released for Free Comic Book Day this year), and the new Mass Effect: Foundations #01 (which just came out). Dark Horse is outstanding with their collections, so I imagine Blasto and He Who Laughs Best will be collected in Library Edition Volume 02, when Foundations finishes it's planned 13 issues.
If you want to read the comics, I highly suggest getting that hardcover (from Amazon, your local comic shop, your local bookstore, or your library).
I played both PC and PS3 version of ME3. MP will be strong on PC, since ME3 still have a very active MP right now. There will be cheaters on PC, that much is certain. But most "cheating" on PC is kinda harmless or intended as a joke, and console will have their version of cheating (aka missile glitch) running even more rampant.
There is literally no argument for PS4 IMO, unless there are friends you want to play with. From a pure technical stand point PC version will be so superior (especially since you can play at 1440p ultra) it's pointless to play a much inferior version of the game. Did I even mention 144hz? That's what finally swayed me. It's impossible to go back to 30fps after playing games at 144.
I almost prefer digital to physical nowadays. Preloading means I'll be able to play the game at 12am on Monday night instead of waiting for a delivery, and Origin Access means I'll get to play the game for free for 10 hours starting from the Friday before release. Still, If you must have a sleeve I think there are physical versions.
I would recommend the Mass Effect Poster Collection from Amazon, it's only 18 bucks. It comes with 20 posters on thick paper and has the same lithograph art that Bioware used to sell. These are amazing quality and are definitely worth it. :)
Here is the link. https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Poster-Collection-Various/dp/1616557427/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478101264&sr=8-1&keywords=mass+effect+poster+collection
> BioWare made SAM that powerful (too powerful in my opinion, but that's a different discussion), for what it's worth.
SAM is the true hero of MEA. Without him, nothing gets done. Ryder is just SAMs leg . Ryder is Pinocchio, and SAM is Jiminy Cricket.
> They are not different in the context being discussed.
But they are. The Turian/Human war was started and finished. They gave us an ending for it. While trust must still be gained in a way, it has come and gone.
Uprising on the other hand has yet to finish, at least not until Kadara and Eladeen. Ryder finishes Uprising. Shepard doesn't finish First Contact War.
> Although I wouldn't mind playing through the Uprising in a prequel. But not with Ryder, then.
Not gonna happen. All we got out of that is a book. That is all. Slone Kelly seems to be the star from what I gather from the preview audio from Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-Nexus-Uprising/dp/1785651560
i have one of the big hardcover books that contains maybe 7 stories. i didn't really care for any of them to be honest, save for one about the illusive man, and another short story about what tali was up to prior to ME1. as for the others, the art, coloring, presentation of the story just wasn't for me.
mass effect is my all time favorite game series, so it's safe to say i came into the stories already heavily invested in all the characters. that still didn't make me enjoy the comics all that much.
just my opinion though. the overwhelming opinion on amazon is 5/5 for the book i linked. i think darkhorse sells some volumes at a reasonable price and have this single for free. i'd say pick one up then decide for yourself. if you like them, the big hardcover books do at least give you a lot of bang for your buck.
[Revelation is the first to read. It's about Anderson, Saren and Kahlee Sanders. It gives you a lot of insight to what happened between Saren and Anderson, as well as showing humans in their first century as a Citadel species. This book makes Saren a much more interesting character.] (/http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mass-Effect-Revelation-Drew-Karpyshyn/dp/1841496758/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345302449&sr=8-1)
[Ascension is number 2 in the series. It focuses on Kahlee Sanders of the Grissom academy, the Cerberus agent Paul Grayson and his daughter, Gillian who is a student at the Grissom Academy. If you ever wondered why Cerberus and the Migrant Fleet have a sour relationship (mentioned in the beginning of ME2), this book will show you.] (/http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mass-Effect-Ascension-Drew-Karpyshyn/dp/1841496766/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1345302449&sr=8-2)
[Retribution is a straight follow-up of Ascension, and the last book you should read. Paul Grayson and Kahlee Sanders are the main characters, following up on their story from Ascension directly. Anderson is back to help Kahlee as he did 20 years ago (in Revelation). Cerberus and Aria are both involved a whole lot in this one.] (/http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mass-Effect-Retribution-Drew-Karpyshyn/dp/1841499846/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1345302449&sr=8-3)
The amazon reviews are superb
>
As a Krogan who loves his guns, I found that I often had trouble carrying all of them around. I wanted a backpack to lug them about to and from Palaven to help in my fight against the reapers. Unfortunately, backpacks are made on Earth, so most are developed for humans. I contacted the Shadow Broker about a fix for my dilemma. He pointed me to the Pangolin backpack, which would comfortably fit the shape of my hump. It was a bit pricey, but worth the cost. Now I can carry my Revenant, my Graal Spike Thrower, AND my Widow easily wherever I go.

After the genophage was cured, I decided to foster krogan babies. Long story! Anyway, I wanted to spare no expense for my babies. They needed a tough rucksack to carry their supplies to Pyjak hunting class. It was difficult to find a suitable bag because they were all mostly emblazoned with Hanar Montana faces which is, frankly, not befitting of an aspiring Battlemaster! This pangolin backpack is classy, fits comfortably on any hump big or small and won't get you headbutt in the cafeteria.
Mass effect Annihilation. Here is the amazon page
https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Annihilation-Catherynne-Valente/dp/1785651587/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=mass+effect+books&qid=1559277456&s=gateway&sr=8-4
I would honestly recommend all the books for mass effect except deception. But Annihilation is the best in my opinion.
Read the books! thats what im doing and it really is awesome! i would recommend Mass Effect Revelation as your pick. it takes place right before the first game and takes anderson as the protagonist with kahlee sanders followed by saren
You're in luck! It's part of the Mass Effect Poster Collection
It looks really nice in person too. I got the collection for Reddit's Secret Santa, and the prints are solid. It's cheap too!
ME1 on Amazon is 19.86 so this is a solid deal.
If you started the series with ME2/ME3 and have yet to play ME1... do it. It's a fantastic way to open up the series.
Not sure what this is but it looks like a "physical" option for PC is available via Amazon but it does not include a disc.
https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-Deluxe-Xbox-One/dp/B00ZPZQKIG/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1488326278&sr=1-1&keywords=mass%2Beffect%2Bandromeda&th=1
This seems to be the only way to use the Amazon Prime 20% off new titles discount for PC. Based on the box art it does not include a disc so I'd assume it is a box with a code inside.
Here's a few options for you:
Yes. Amazon has the DDL for $5.99 right now if money is an issue (and if you play on PC).
http://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Arts-40465Mass-Effect-Download/dp/B00477472Y/
Play ME1 first. It's worth it.
If you have a computer that can play it, PC download is $15.10 on Amazon and $19.99 on Steam right now.
Mass Effect Andromeda - PC http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZPZQKIG/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_awdm_xs_U2BkybDR8AFJ6 via @amazon
Here's the link to the physical Standard Edition for PC. The problem is it doesn't look like physical editions of the Deluxe or Super Deluxe are up yet. I hope they make them. I buy maybe one game a year and I want to be able to smell a manual, dammit.
The Mass Effect Library collection Volume 1 :D It comes with all the Graphic Novels released up to a certain point and loads of cool little extras.
Here's a link
I did a review just for this post. Hope you guys enjoy.
Nice! I saw omni-gel at my local craft shop too.
There is no way for you to "convert" a game from xbox to pc I'm afraid. If you're interested in buying them, you can get them for really, really cheap on amazon (I'm talking around $16 for all three) ME1, ME2, ME3.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004T8C20U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
£17.99 which is about $28
Its been like that since about March 20th.
Certainly not here though:
Amazon Reviews
If you want it on PC, get your key from Amazon instead, it's under $15 for a digital copy.
https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-PC/dp/B00ZPZQKIG/
There's a book about the Quarian Ark called Mass Effect: Annihilation. I've heard a lot of good things about it, but I haven't read it myself.
Trade Paperbacks. Basically, they're collections of issues that are bound together, rather than single issues. In even simpler terms, it's like buying the ME trilogy (TPB) vs each game individually (single issue).
My personal preference would be to have the single issues of each comic released. But since they're probably no longer printing, my guess is only the omnibus will be available easily. And apparently, quite costly as well :(
a physical copy of the deluxe edition is only $38 on amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-Deluxe-PlayStation-4/dp/B01MTJ0TA9/ref=sr_1_2_twi_gam_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1498589581&sr=1-2&keywords=mass+effect+andromeda
The PC Download version of Mass Effect is $5 right now on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Arts-40465Mass-Effect-Download/dp/B00477472Y
That's not much more than a Venti Latte at Starbucks.
Mass Effect 2 is also $5, and Mass Effect 3 is $6. This sale ends in a few days.
You can buy it on Amazon used for under 20 bucks.
Here's a link.
It is already on amazon. Here is the link https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-Prima-Collectors/dp/0744017904/
Hey, look what I can buy from Amazon UK and get on Tuesday.
Don't forget your omni-gel!
there is a Physical PC Version though if it's anything like Titanfall 2 it's just a box with voucher to download it on Origin, no actual disc.

You can't afford a $6 used game?
They're not going to call it Ascension.

Like this?
Regular Edition
Collector's Edition
http://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Library-Edition-Volume/dp/1616551119
You could also pick up the first set of comics http://amzn.com/1616551119; it has a lot of the same writers as the games so it doesn't feel out of universe. I think that has all of the comics except the Blasto online comic and the current (Foundation) series. Also, this book is big, heavy, and annotated.
Late June, probably. Source.
This is of course assuming that they will not change their policy and release the DLCs and
the corresponding books at different dates.

Is there any difference with this book? :
https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Library-2-Various/dp/1616556366
Only a few more months till part 2! link
There's also a Dragon Age one: link
It says both, kinda. The cover shows "Initiation" while the list underneath lists the book as "Initiative". Whatever it is, i need it. Edit: The english version of the book can still be found at Amazon.de and is indeed titled as "Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiation" https://www.amazon.de/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-Initiation-Jemisin/dp/1785651560
Just the German site: http://www.amazon.de/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-Initiation-Jemisin/dp/1785651560/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462310608&sr=8-1&keywords=Mass+Effect%3A+Andromeda+initiation
I've never bought posters, but here's a few I still think about getting sometimes:
Saren had been indoctrinated for nearly 2 decades leading up to ME1. Check out the book: Mass Effect Revelation to get more info.
They wrapped up the Quarian ark story in the book Annhilation. https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Annihilation-Catherynne-Valente/dp/1785651587
I don’t think they will ever touch Andromeda for another game. It was a critical and commercial bomb. If we’re ever lucky enough to get another ME game it will likely be closer to the original series.
I don't think this is needed anymore. The damage has been done even without further boycotts - the price of ME3 in the UK got slashed in half.
uhh.. I totally read them... but.. they.. all... blended together, so.. I don't remember which title he's in... Yeaaah....
::hides Amazon Wishlist behind back:: >>
All joking aside, there are 4 books. The 4th book has been revoked from canon, because apparently some guy just came in and made shit up that makes no sense. Or something. I don't know, I'm waiting for my birthday so I can order one on kindle. :3
Here is the first one, second, third.
...And the red-headed step-child
There are novels already. A film was never going to happen, even before the recent franchise suicide.
From the page:
> What DLC is included in the Mass Effect Trilogy?
> On PC, Mass Effect will include Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station on disk. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included which features Zaeed – The Price of Revenge, The Firewalker Pack, Cerberus Assault Gear, Arc Projector heavy weapon, and Normandy Crash site mission. For Mass Effect 3, Online Pass will be included granting players access to co-op multiplayer.
> On Xbox 360, Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station are not included with Mass Effect, however they are available as stand-alone downloads through Xbox LIVE. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included and Online Pass will be included for Mass Effect 3.
> * Information on PlayStation 3 DLC will be available soon.
Pinnacle Station is $5 on XBL, Bring down the Sky is $1.
You can already buy the games individually for ~$54 on the 360 and ~$37 on the PC:
Mass Effect 3 is $20 on Amazon at the moment. Mass Effect 2 is $19 for the 360, $18 for the PS3, and $8 for the PC. Mass Effect 1 is on sale for $10-15 (used) on the 360 and $5-9 (used) on the PC.
If you're patient you can probably get Mass Effect 1 and 2 for ~$10 during Amazon's holiday sale. Mass Effect 3 was even on sale last month for $16 through Origin.
Yup, in the book... Nexus Uprising: https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Andromeda-Nexus-Uprising/dp/1785651560
Seriously. Fuck this business plan. I love so much about Mass Effect, but this shit needs to die in a fucking fire.
