Well think of it like this: You are literally taking amphetamines every single day. Your brain is used to it so your brain on amphetamine has become your new default.

I am too lazy to find the research right now but I encourage you to do the research for yourself. Simply eating a more healthy diet, cutting out processed food and especially sugar while also making sure to get things such as vitamin D and omega-3 has been shown to in many cases completely eliminate ADHD.

Exercise has also been proven to be extremely effective since it helps your brain naturally produce more dopamine.

Meditation also has an almost laughably long list of health benefits and it seriously can't be understated how much it can help you. I recommend the book The mind illuminated which teaches you step by step how to get the most out of and develop your meditation practice.

Now I haven't officially been diagnosed with ADHD but I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and there is a huge overlap of people with schizophrenia who also has ADHD. On top of that I react very much like someone with ADHD reacts to stimulants. I have experimented with Methamphetamine and even on 30+mg with I still reacted by just being extremely calm instead of the usual manic energy rushes people normally experience.

What I am trying to say is that you can either tell yourself that you need the drugs (either microdosing or amphetamines) or you can start getting your life together and quit the drugs. I had done a lot of exercise, clean eating and meditation in the past but it wasn't until I actually started meditating and exercising for a total of 4+ hours every single day that I managed to get control of my mind. Now I can get away with only 30 mins a day to just maintain what I have already gained of control, but it does take some work to get to that point.

I wish you the best of luck in your journey.

Unable? Not so my friend! You just need to keep it sorta roomtemp as I understand. I personally keep mine in a fridge, but that's unnecessary I think. I use a small dark glass bottle, that holds 30ml - which I drop a tab into, and then use a blunted syringe to extract 1.5ml–3ml per dose (depending how much I want that day).

Volumetric is a WAY WAY better way of doing it than cutting up tabs. I'm sure if your bedroom is even a remotely normal room temp your little bottle will be just fine in a drawer or something.

The dark glass bottle, and the syringes (science/non medical type) are available on amazon for not too much money.

— Here is the type of bottle I have (these are very very nice, you could probably get away with a cheaper one, but hey, it's nice to have nice things :)

Math is easy. If you put a tab say a 100ug tab into 30ml of water, then if you take 3ml of that water, you would be getting 10% of that tab. 5—15% is usually a good amount, and you might find that less works better for you.

The ALD52 I have is 125ug per tab. So 125ug in 30ml of distilled water means that 3ml of solution equals 12.5ug of a dose - and often, I take half of that, so only 1.5ml of soultion.

I'm blown away by how LSD seems to be able to actually get down to the core of our issues. I had my first trip two days ago but I had the exact opposite outcome - I had a rather small dose (approx 75-80ug) but had a wonderful time. The "message" I got is that I worry too much about work, and life in general, and that just need to I relax and that everything is okay. However, my issue is that I work up to 60-80 hours a week 9-10 months of the year. Weed on the other hand made me feel pretty much worthless and made me even more anxious and self-critical and even less motivated to get out of bed. My absolute biggest fear about doing LSD was what if I would find out that I'm an asshole? How the hell do I cope with that? Fortunately this relatively small dose helped me to step outside myself just enough to realize that I'm a much more decent human being than I give myself credit for.

Now, I'm obviously not an expert, and I still haven't had time to fully reflect on the trip and integrate the things I experienced but now that I've dipped my toes in psychedelics for the first time I've begun understand a little bit how it works, and it's no miracle cure for sure (and I don't know if anybody has ever claimed that, but it's easy to get that impression from all of the experiences people share).

From the information and stories I've gathered from other people (and it seems to be true from my short experience too) is that it can bring you immense clarity, but I won't fix your problems. There's a very interesting podcast I listened to last night, where Neal Goldsmith talks about the importance of the work that comes after the trip. If you don't do anything with what you experienced during the trip, he argues, it can create even more damage. https://psychedelicsalon.com/podcast-499-psycheology-psychedelics-and-the-study-of-the-soul/

If I were you in your shoes (I once was, so I can relate to your situation and how you feel), I'd start with digging a little bit deeper about your past and history and try to find out why you can't muster any will-power to worry about life.

Just to give you an example from my own life, I used to care about nothing except partying and music. I wanted to become a rockstar (hah!) and/or a nightclub owner, even though I had no idea of what it takes to get there. I wanted to become successful (whatever that meant at that time) without doing all the hard work. Basically all my dreams (mostly just empty shallow daydreams) revolved around the nightlife (this was from when I was 20 until I was 30). I had some part time jobs here and there, but nothing that could support me 100%. Fortunately, a few years ago I had a little bit of luck and got some freelancing gigs which just grew and blew up, and within 2-3 years I went from my parents paying my rent and being $20.000 in debt to driving a nice car and earning within the top 10% However, and this is the moral of the story, I'm absolutely not happier now than I was before. If anything, I'm more anxious and scared and I haven't really felt pure joy in years. And what I've learned about myself, mostly by reading books and meditating, is that everything in my life has been driven out of fear. 5-10 years ago I was doing nothing to get out of the bed because I was scared of the world and everything and everybody. Rejection in my world view has always been such a hard thing to cope with, that I'd rather not even try. Fast-forward 10 years and to anybody on the outside world I'm probably considered successful, but I feel nothing like that. I'm still struggling every dingle day with the exact same fears as I did back then, but they manifest in a different way. I now work 80 hours a week because I'm scared to turn down work. What if I turn down a project and they'll find somebody else? I haven't had a proper vacation in 3 years. Do you see the irony? I used the be scared to get out and look for work, now I'm scared to say no to work. It's not really a fun way to live.

If I were you, I'd take a break from drugs completely, and spend some time (a LOT of time) reading some books. Start with psychology and spice it up with some business (or whatever it is you want to do). You actually seem to have the luxury of time to be able to do that, so make use of it. Try to find out what fears inhibit you from going to where you want.

Here's a book that I'd recommend you starting with: https://www.amazon.com/Drama-Gifted-Child-Search-Revised/dp/0465016901

It's a relatively short read (less than 150 pages), and when I first picked it up, it spoke to me already in the first pages and gave me the motivation to start digging deeper within myself. I'm not sure if it's available on kindle, but I'm sure you can find it on PDF or audiobook if you know where to look. If not, let me know and I'll dig it up for you. If that book resonates with you I'd be happy to share some more with you.

Sorry for the long rant - I hope it helps. Good luck!

edit: Also, if you haven't already and you for whatever reason won't decide to stay off drugs for a while, at least read Fadiman's book on psychedelics before proceeding. There are lots of valuable information in there on how to conduct a safe practice: https://www.amazon.com/Psychedelic-Explorers-Guide-Therapeutic-Journeys/dp/1594774021/ref=sr_1_1/166-4346259-0867716?ie=UTF8&qid=1484133871&sr=8-1&keywords=james+fadiman

This reply is longer than I wanted, but I do have some experience in this area. Hopefully this will help you come up with a workable plan.

First of all, microdosing might help you see the harm that the adderall is doing to you, and may even help you with the motivation. But, to succeed, you'll still need a plan and a certain level of self-discipline.

Although, I have never taken adderall, I have managed to get myself off of addictive medication (benzos, various psychiatric meds etc) a number of times in the past. Many of these meds had horrendous side effects, even if you skipped just even 1 or 2 doses. The best approach, in my opinion, is to taper off of them slowly. This requires discipline, a plan of action, and a continual review as to how you are feeling. Tapering slowly minimizes the side effects and gives you the best chance of remaining functional during the process.

You can google the best way to taper off of adderrall, but here's an example of how I got myself off of Duloxetine. Note that Duloxetine is known to have really bad withdrawals, and the company even got sued because they understated just how bad they were. I started this process when I was taking 120mg a day.

  • Week 1: reduce dosage to 90 mg

  • Week 2: reduce to 60 mg. Then...

  • 2 days at 30 mg

  • 2 days at 15 mg

  • 2 days at 7.5 mg

  • 2 days at 3.75 mg

Note that the capsules I was prescribed came in a minimum dosage of 30 mg. Once I got to this point, I had to open the capsules and calculate the number of balls inside each one. I did this using a set of reasonably accurate scales. I worked out that each 30 mg capsule contained 320 balls. So when I got down to 3.75 mg, I was counting out 40 balls for my daily dosage. I then reduced this as follows:

  • 1 day at 30 balls

  • 1 day at 20 balls

  • 1 day at 10 balls

  • 1 day at 5 balls

  • 1 day at 2 balls

  • 1 day at 1 ball

This approach worked well for me, and I although I still experienced some withdrawal effects, I felt that they were manageable. These side effects lasted for about 4-8 weeks, but lessened each week.

A couple of points to note about tapering:

  1. It's worth doing this under the supervision of a doctor, but bear in mind that some doctors don't give the best advice in this area. For example, my shrink wanted me to taper off the Duloxetine much faster. However, I already knew from my research that many people had experienced unbearable side effects using the schedule he suggested. I decided to slow it down, knowing that I could go back to my doctor if things got too bad. Do your own research to find out what tapering strategies have worked for others, and the side effects they experienced.

  2. Only change one thing at a time, e.g. don't try and taper off of two different substances at the same time. If you experience issues, you want a clear idea as to what is causing them. So, keep smoking the weed - you can taper off of that later.

  3. Monitor how you feel on a daily basis. If the side effects get too bad, then it's a good indication that you are going too fast. In this case, you should revert to your previous dose until you feel normal(ish) again, and then resume your taper at a slower pace.

  4. You might want to get a set of decent scales, a tablet cutter and some empty gel capsules (all available on amazon). This is so that you can measure out smaller doses when you want to go below one tablet.

  5. If you are going to start microdosing, then either start it a few weeks before you do the taper, or wait until you've been off the adderrall for a while (see point 2).

Let me know if you have any questions, but good luck with it anyway.

Yeah, it can be difficult with gel. In that case I would-

  • get some distilled water or vodka or both. Do not use tap water because it contains chlorine which can kill the LSD.
  • Get a small bottle preferably an amber or dark colored or something that can block out light. (UV light can kill LSD as well.) Or if you can’t get one of those then you can wrap aluminum foil around a bottle to block out the light.

Here are some amber bottles you can buy on Amazon with a measured dropper.- 3 Pack of 1oz Amber Glass Dropper Bottles (30mL) with Child Resistant Graduated Measurement Marked Glass Droppers::The Hemp Door LLC https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SXJHKQH/

If you don’t need a glass bottle but need a dropper you can get one of these.- Ezy Dose Straight Tip Glass Medicine Dropper (Calibrated) 1 mL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0071S5Y46/

If you want to get a precise measurement of the water or vodka then get a measuring cup that has milliliter measurements. Something like these.- Pixnor Measuring Cylinder Graduated Cylinder Lab Test Tube Set of 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019W5T4CS/

Depending on how much LSD you have in those gel tabs I would recommend trying 20-30ml. (Those amber glass bottles can only hold 30 ml.) You’ll maybe want to use this calculator. - https://www.microdosingcalculator.org/

  • Take one of the gel tabs of LSD and cut it up in 2-4 pieces. I would recommend wearing gloves so the lsd doesn’t get into your skin.

  • Put the pieces of LSD in the bottle and pour the 20-30ml of distilled water or vodka or a mix of both. To help the gel dissolve quicker use warmer water or vodka and let it sit for 1 day in room temperature but keep it out of the light.

  • To be on the safe side try taking only 0.5ml for your first dose in the early morning and try it on a day off from any important obligations or responsibilities to see how you feel and how you react to it.

You shouldn’t feel much. If you feel too spacey or jittery then that means you might have taken too much. Wait 2 days and try a lower dose. (1 day on, 2 days off) If you didn’t feel anything then maybe try a little more the next time like 1ml. If you feel too spacey or jittery then go lower the next time. You have to find your sweet spot that’s right for you, where you just feel an over all good feeling to your day.

After you’ve found the dose that’s right for you then you can continue doing the 1 day on, 2 days off or maybe try every other day.

I would recommend mindfulness meditation, I find it synergizes quite well with microdosing, at the same time it goes deeper and is longer lasting

The absolute best book on the subject matter in my opinion is The Mind Illuminated, it reads like a college text book and the process is laid out nicely and is easy to follow.

I have found mindfulness to be an important tools in my life toolkit.

u/katalyst23 · 6 pointsr/microdosing

This is the scale I use.

I don't grind mine up, I just swallow it like a pill - that amount of mushrooms usually is just a cap and a stem, at most. I haven't experimented with grinding them up, I'd be curious to hear your experiences with it.

I find that sometimes on the days I microdose, it brings up a lot of strong emotions that I need to sit and process. Not sure if this will happen to you - everyone is different - but for your first try you might want to do it on a day you have fewer commitments than usual, at least for the first few hours after you dose.

Edit: I forgot to say, good luck! I've tapered off psych meds before and it's unpleasant in a very unique kind of way. I hope things get better for you soon.

u/PBTJ · 2 pointsr/microdosing

Grab a coffee grinder and grind what you have into a powder for uniform potency. Then grab a milligram scale and some capsules off amazon. Then make your own capsules... Using a scale with that level of accuracy will allow you to make sure you know what dose you are getting and relelably repeat it time after time. I highly recommend this one. It's incredilby accurate for the $20 price. I use it almost every day for all sorts of small weight. I'd recommend starting with 0.1g (100mg) and going up from there if you feel the need. Happy dosing!!!

u/servedconserved · 2 pointsr/microdosing

At a pharmacy you can get either a baby medicine dropper or med syringe like this, would be easier to use than a scale. Any small syringe, like an insulin syringe, marked in 1ml increments would work fine. By the way keep in mind 1ml = 1cc, so if it's calibrated in cc's that'll work fine.

I totally support the meditation suggestion.

Although I would do it methodically in conjunction with cognitive behavioural therapy.

This course did wonders for me a while ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mindfulness-based_cognitive_therapy

You can do it by yourself too with this study book (includes guided meditations) if you dont have the money for a course. But be prepared to invest alot of time (~45 mins per day for 2-3 months) and dedication into the practice to get any benefits from this.

I highly recommend reading this book if you have not already. My wife and I have been working with Dr. Faidman's treatment recommendations for 4 years off and on now. My longest period of 4 day Cy le dosing was 18 months. Now I dose 1-3 times every couple of months. I usually try to tie my dosing with the full moon as I seem to be unusually affected by full/new moons. The cycle of DOSE/REST/REFLECTION/DOSE (4 days) has worked well for me.

I think 2g once a week doesn't leave much time to reintegrate and recuperate. You're probably building some level of tolerance and you're concern that you can't be sure what that sort of repeated exposure to psychedelic doses will do long term isn't misplaced (honestly, there's no research or repeated microdoses either). When i went on a full on trip on ~4-5g, it took me a week or two to integrate the experience, but the the effects seem to have stuck. Didn't feel the need to trip again for 8 months or so. I think you should consider reading the following book and going for a nice introspective journey with the intent of really addressing the issues you have with your personality. https://www.amazon.com/Psychedelic-Psychotherapy-User-friendly-Guide-Drug-assisted/dp/0963009656

You can take a gram of mushrooms, grind it into powder, and mix it with pureed candied ginger, lime juice and chocolate... then divide into ten equal size pieces to get 0.1 grams per day. That's what I do. I actually mix up larger amounts so I don't have to make so many batches. I use a kid's medicine syringe like this. It can be bought at any Walgreens or Rite Aide.

As for a container, I currently have mine in a small mason jar with a koozie to block out the light but if you're down to buy more materials, I'd go with this jar. Just keep your room dim with a distant lamp when measuring your dose out.

Don't use the droppers anymore since they're inaccurate. 10 drops is supposed to be 1 mL on that melatonin bottle (I have the same one!) and I've tested it with melatonin and it was off quite a bit.

To this date, there are no fully controlled empirical studies on the subject of microdosing. The only research that's has been released are excerpts from Jim Fadiman's pseudo-qualitative study. You can read about those in his book "The Psychedelic Explorers Guide" or on ResearchGate.

https://www.amazon.com/Psychedelic-Explorers-Guide-Therapeutic-Journeys/dp/1594774021/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482396978&sr=8-1&keywords=psychedelic+explorers+guide

I'll just post here what I wrote to you privately, as it might help somebody else too here.

No worries, glad to help in this area, especially as it has helped me.

So, dosage: I bought myself a grinder (link below, but a coffee grinder works too), and with that I grinded my shrooms into very small pieces, but not into powder (only because I couldn't, the grinder was too coarse). Those I then measured with a precision scale to a dosage of 0.10-0.25g, and I took the dose every third day (the Fadiman method, so Monday dose, Tuesday and Wednesday no dose, Thursday dose, etc.). I found out that 0.10g was the sweet spot for not feeling anything and still getting the benefits, but then again I took 0.25g last Saturday, didn't feel a thing, but on Monday was having the time of my life.

Anxiety: So, before I started I had a severe fear of fucking up my heart with this, due to the exact same articles and links you posted in your Reddit-post. I was diagnosed with panic disorder on 2006, and one of the main reasons for this is the fact that I fear cardiac arrest like crazy. I'm in my early 30's and generally quite healthy, so I shouldn't have a reason for that, but I still do have the phobia, so that factored in big time when I started to think about doing this.

The first day I took the dose (0.21g), I mainly played some video games and didn't feel a thing, but I did feel a bit of anxiety due to the fact that I was expecting something happening in my body. The next day I felt awesome in many ways, but I still had the same anxious feelings and did get a very small panic attack when visiting my therapist. Luckily I have been able to talk openly about the microdosing, so when I got the panic attack I could explain very well what's going on in my head, after which the anxious feelings dropped significantly, so I'm quite certain they were in my head. I did get some more anxiety when doing a dose of 0.16-0.17g, but they most probably have also been in my head, as I didn't get any when doing 0.10g or when doing 0.25g.

When I got the anxious feelings the second time, I sent a mail to Dr. Fadiman, who replied that the elevated heart rate should not be due to the microdosing, as the dose is so low that there shouldn't be any physical effects. Then again, elevated heart rate is very much a symptom of anxiety, so it definitely might be that. The best advice I got for the anxiety is 1) to remember that there's nothing we can do about our irrational fears, other than face them, and 2) if you're feeling more anxious, skip one dose and see how you feel. In the material that Dr. Fadiman provides, he says that if you're feeling any ill effects, you should stop the microdosing, but don't let it scare you away from trying it in the first place.

My reasons for starting the microdosing were basically to try out something for the chronic depression I've had for the last 15 years. Anxiety, negative (EDIT: even suicidal) thoughts, inability to get stuff done or start doing things, issues with self image, bad self esteem, etc. have been there for ages, and only during this year I've been on 6 different medications for it, out of which venlafaxine helped with anxiety, but not with anything else. I've now taken 10 microdoses and I can definitely say that it did help me a lot! I hope that it will help you too.
