Leatt 3DF Hybrid EXT Knee and Shin Guard (Black/White, Large/X-Large) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q8MK44G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uSdDDbFNX6W18
I know they look bulky and more downhill oriented, but I put them on in the parking lot and I pedal up in them for hours pretty much ok. even in hotter californian days (up to 100F). Feel free to ask me what else you want to know about these guards.
After both of my shoulders took hits this year, I invested in a jacket. I may look odd on the trails but I’ve had 2 falls with the jacket on and was perfectly fine. Great use of money in my opinion. Get well sir!

Definitely get knee pads. I use the G-Form Elite knee and shin guards and they're great. They're super comfortable and I usually forget I'm wearing them while I'm riding. I've also heard good things about the Kali Protective strike knee pads. If you start doing big gaps and drops and stuff you might want to get a full face helmet and maybe even a neck brace.

I would recommend some Fooker pedals from amazon. https://www.amazon.com/FOOKER-Composite-Mountain-High-Strength-Bikesflat/dp/B07D66NDS3/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=fooker+chester+pedals&qid=1573603749&sr=8-3****
I am pretty sure they are made from the same factory as Race Face chesters as i have both and can't tell any difference besides the logos. I have been using them for awhile now and they have held up great and they are only 20 bucks.
These are pretty much the best drywall anchors I've ever used if you can't utilize a stud. You can probably even use the old holes.

I have the same exact bike, I love it, also new to MTB, first thing I did was swap out that annoying rear suspension. Found this on a DB forum, such a blessing to have the ability to lock out the rear suspension on the fly:

Silicone tape is great and is really convenient. This one below will stay on for at least a few days at a time even in the shower.

Baleaf Men's 3D Padded Bike Bicycle MTB Cycling Underwear Shorts (Blue, L) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MTE6OTQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tx02Cb420NTFF
Get shorts and a gel seat cover. You ride more when you're comfortable.
This is what I buy in the uk - I have one on head and one on the bike. It’s too bright for the road tho https://www.amazon.com/Cycling-Bicycle-Headlight-Headlamp-Waterproof/dp/B014GUD7MW/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1537457248&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=cree+mtb+lights&dpPl=1&dpID=51aDXgWHKoL&ref=plSrch
Nice! As a newer rider myself, some big advice, get some new pedals, it makes the bike feel much better for very cheap. I always had a problem with my feet slipping off of the factory ones.
I use these fooker pedals
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D66NDS3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-DK0CbP00MA22
They're very affordable and they're half the price of Raceface Chester's but they're the exact same mold.
Edit: unless of course you have no issue with the pedals you have. They just look like the factory ones and those are rarely comparable to aftermarket pedals.
Probably not the ‘best’, but I figured I’d thrash it on trail and didn’t want to invest too much.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8YMD2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_L5JnDbRMR5E61
Been a pretty good unit so far - 100 or so miles off road and I’ve only had the magnet come out of adjustment once. Even downed the bike a month or so ago and it was no worse for the wear aside from a few scratches.
Temp seems to read high as a side note
Its just a cheap frame I got from Amazon. http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B004WI02VI/ref=s9_simh_gw_p200_d4_i1?pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1TAWDVP7C63BRF6PMZ3P&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1687860482&pf_rd_i=915398
This is honestly a new hobby for me, so I didn't go and spend the big money. I'm only about 2 months in, and I've now broken the second part of this bike. The first was the plastic pedals :P
I use a Ram mount x grip on both my MTN bike and my motorcycle. Never a problem.
