Scotch-brite scour pads are the best thing going for heavily poly'd necks. You can just rub one up and down the length of the neck a few times and it will take a very fine layer of the polish off, leaving you with a beautiful satin neck without the worry of scratching or taking too much finish off. Best part is that you can use a proper polish to bring it back up to shine if you ever wanted to.

"Cowabunga! The Surf Box Set" and "Surf Age Nuggets" have some really great songs on them. With Nuggets getting pretty gritty and garagey. Some of the bands are terrible, like you can tell they picked up instruments a few months ago as they go through a guitar scale... but some of the songs are really special. The thing is that there aren't too many super complete albums from the same bands since there are so many flashes in the pan, but see what you think.

Thanks! I will look into it, but since i'm not from the US, it will cost me $175.
Currently considering this one:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003B03E0Y/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza

It's the Japanese reissue version, comes without the arm but the Squier one should fit right in. and it goes for $50!

I thought teles and strats were technically offset guitars... to answer what you're asking though Troy Van Leeuwen was a big part of it. Also Fu Manchu put a jaguar on the cover of one of their albums and the guitar alone was a statement of how cool they are. Said album cover I used to teach guitar lessons at a shop that had a modern player jaguar and I really liked the way it played and sounded. I usually play gibson style guitars and that modern player model has a lot of gibson/epiphone qualities to it. I bought a modern player jaguar online on Sunday and I'm very excited for it to show up.

I have a Gator case for my Jagmaster. Fits perfectly, no room for it to move around, and it's wicked tough. Survived two long plane flights after being forced to gate-check it, no problem at all. Locks are sturdy, hinges are nice and solid. It is very heavy, more so even than the guitar, I think. Carrying it across two terminals at Dulles was an enormous workout. I would recommend it, for sure.

EDIT: Replaced the ProGuitarShop link (out of stock) with one from Amazon.

$45 solution

This thing sounds really good with single coils pickups - a little too dark for my taste with humbuckers.

I will look into it then. The collet wouldn't grab the trem arm at all until I took it apart and closed it with a wrench. It's still a little wonky though. Shame since everything else about this guitar is fantastic.

Would this be the one right here?

Hey - I had the exact same issue on my Classic Player Jaguar and there is a very simple fix to this.

Purchase these Strat trem springs, drop one into the socket and screw in your tone arm - it'll stay in position really nicely without having to screw it in a lot.

My band's other guitarist uses these in his blacktop jag:

along with

Those mounting rings took some work to install without destroying the original pickguard, but now that he has them in there, he really goes to town dialing in some wide varying tones.

I'd just buy one of these and pop it in!

I have a few Squier Stratocasters, and one has the trem 'working', one is blocked, and one is decked with 5 springs pulled tight. I like both the blocked and decked ones, as they stay in tune fairly well.

The block I made from a piece of cedar wood. It was one that you would buy to put in with your clothing to keep moths away. I shaped it with a rotary tool using the specs from this book plus my own measurements... It works well and I left all five of the springs in for mass and jangle.

Get a blank pickup cover and cut it out for the hot rail, just like Steven’s. That’s exactly what Wayne did when they first got that Jazzmaster in the 90s. (Except Wayne modded the original 60s pickup, which pissed Steven off at the time lol.)

I'm with you on that one - I don't generally use trem, so I've been thinking of replacing the bridge with this: https://www.amazon.com/Danelectro-Intonatable-Bridge-DC3-Chrome/dp/B0002IZQLS

But for now, I also need to refill/redrill one of the holes. In my taking apart the guitar, since I didn't know how the bridge worked, I accidentally put too much pressure on one of the screws and sent it a few degrees in.
