Scosche RHYTHM+ Heart Rate Monitor Armband - Orange - Optical Heart Rate Armband Monitor With Dual Band Radio ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XIT788C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_65hnzbJY82NYE

Works great! And $20 cheaper than purchasing from OTF

u/OTFgrl28 · 3 pointsr/orangetheory

Newer studios are using this one (but orange, obviously). It’s same basic design as the Reebok one but the top is smooth, without the bumps so they’re more comfortable.

I use these...they are wonderful and worth every penny!

Regular workout gloves were too bulky/hot for me. These help with giving me a better grip the rower as well as the TRX bands. Admittedly, it also helps me feel less yucky about grabbing sweat-soaked rowing handles. 🤢

vinegar definitely helps but this stuff is awesome too: https://www.amazon.com/Rockin-Green-Platinum-Powdered-Detergent/dp/B075MPKB9X. my husband and I just add half a scoop to the load when it’s workout clothes or towels, and it’s made a huge difference.

Yes it triggers tinitus for me which went on for 3 months of off and on ringing. I now wear high fidelity ear plugs to class. They hello so much. My favorite for class are Etymotic Research ER20 High-Fidelity Earplugs, Blue Tip with Clear Stem, 1 Pair Standard Fit, Polybag Packaging https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G0PPTAK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_xFeq3f6Eilbwj

It's funny one of my coaches asked if I had a hearing problem and would have trouble hearing them during class. Nope music is just super loud.

I like these, and I know there are other good ones, too. These were recommended by someone on another thread here. I’m MUCH more comfortable in my studio now. It’s like the volume has been turned down.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. It has an app on my phone and automatically syncs my weigh ins and has graphs for bmi, water weight, muscle mass. I weigh every day, but don't look at the scale. I check the app once a week to see my progress, so I don't get that day to day obsession. I have a profile set up, my bf had a profile set up. When he steps on it, it syncs to his app only, when I step on it syncs to my app only. Bc we are so different in weight, it automatically recognises who is in the scale. If I can figure out how to get a picture on redit, I'll show you a screenshot of the app if you want.

Regularly $129, I got it on sale for $79, currently it's $69. Itd still be worth it if I paid double the regular price. 840+ reviews and 4.5 stars. I have no connection to the seller or company, Im in no way compensated for my review, but i can not rave enough about this scale

These are the gloves I love! https://amzn.to/2XvvIM7 I've been using them for years and they last a long time. Every time I have to get replacements I have debated about getting different ones, but these are just so perfect for me. The only thing is they are a bit thicker than some other ones, so it might take a workout or two to get used to them. But they are amazing and so many people who take class with me now have them too!

RENPHO. Bought it on Amazon. I really like it! RENPHO Bluetooth Body Fat Scale - FDA Approved - Smart BMI Scale Digital Bathroom Wireless Weight Scale, Body Composition Analyzer with Smartphone App, 396 lbs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1UX8RW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_PYp2Bb2FCAN9F

I got this one from Amazon, it is just like the ones at OTF and I love having it at home. I can repeat the body weight exercises and have been using it to do step downs which has really helped my knees.

It is like a regular scale but with bioimpedance sensors built into it and does some rough calculations to determine your body fat %, muscle mass weight, subcutaneous fat weight, etc. Along with giving you your actual weight.

I have one at home. It also logs your previous weigh-ins and things like that on its connecting app. The major downside to the scale is that bioimpedance has been shown to not be super accurate, especially not as much so as DEXA scans (also cost more per scan vs 1-$25 purchase). I just use the scale as a good baseline to compare myself against in my weekly weight checks.

I started using the Rocking Green Active on all my workout clothes and it was a game changer. I swear by it now.

Suggestion - get a scale like this. I have it, and love that while my weight has varied by less than a pound for 5 weeks, I’ve watched as my composition has changed in other ways.

I fell in love with this car seat cover! It's more towel-like in texture which was hard to find (I didn't like microfiber or more plastic-y stuff). I bought 3 and wash and dry mine every few classes.

This happened to me a few times after about 3 months after getting a chest strap. I ended up getting a new chest strap on Amazon which is a little different - and Ive not had the problem since.

I highly recommend this strap from Amazon: Polar strap

I have these and love them. But my issue is mainly sweaty hands and griping weights, not calluses from rowing (although that does help).

u/ATLOTFGirl · 1 pointr/orangetheory

I've been doing OTF for over 2 years and have the same problem. I've asked a bunch of coaches to look at my form and they all say it's fine. I found the butt shield roll on to be a lifesaver. And on the days I forget it Aquafor is my saving grace. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UMQKJ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

Rockin Green - Active Wear formula. I soak my band and gloves once a month in it and then run it through the washing machine. I also add a scoop to my laundry. Never have any issues with odor since i started using it.

I can’t say for sure this will fit. Maybe measure the width of the strap but this one was recommended previously! I have the old flex so I don’t have any experience with the Burn but maybe might put you down right path.

Good luck. That injury is slow to heal... The brace didn't really help me. Yes, it felt sort of nice to have the pressure, but it didn't seem to solve the problem. I found that strengthening with the Theraband Flexbar (green) was the single biggest factor in my recovery. https://www.amazon.com/TheraBand-Tendonitis-Resistance-Tendinitis-Intermediate/dp/B000KGOMBC/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=213C1FKRMID4Z&keywords=theraband+flexbar+green&qid=1562694719&s=gateway&sprefix=thereband+fl%2Caps%2C224&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1

I have this too. Work on not gripping too tightly. And as others have said, stretch, and stretch, and stretch some more. I also use one of these: TheraBand FlexBar

I have this scale

I haven't tested the accuracy of the body fat part, but I have a DEXA scan next month and was planning to compare then.

2 toms sport shield!! I put it over the areas that I would get rower burn and never have an issue anymore.

Buy the Scosche Rhythm+ off amazon (at your own risk). It works no problem at my home studio but I have had an issue when visiting one other studio.

Also, I've read previous posts that you need to add the number 83 in front of your device ID for it to pair. However, I did not have to do that. The number printed on the back of the device worked to sync mine.

u/InTheDarkDancing · 1 pointr/orangetheory

If you were truly eating 1000 calories a day and working out, you would lose weight rapidly. Either you're underestimating the calories you're actually eating due to not using a food scale/knowing the exact nutritional content of food, or you didn't stay on the diet long enough to notice the effects. There's no tricks or gimmicks if weight loss is your goal, eat 1700~ calories a day and log it all for 2+ months with daily weigh ins, and the results will be there.

I would suggest purchasing a Wi-fi scale (https://www.amazon.com/GreaterGoods-Conductive-Technology-Measurements-Monitoring/dp/B01IFYLARO) and stepping on it at least once a day. The good thing about the Wi-fi scale is you don't have to look at the number on the scale if you think that may demotivate you, you could just step on it, listen for the beep to confirm its logged your weight, and walk away. It tracks all you weigh ins automatically, doesn't require you finnicking around with your phone's bluetooth like other scales, and has a web interface so you can access all your data whenever you want.

I would also caution you against comparing your scale weigh-ins on a daily/weekly basis. Water, diet and everything else will cause your weight to fluctuate 6lbs in both directions day-to-day, so you won't have any hard evidence you're actually losing weight until probably 3+ weeks in and you have enough data points to see the overall trend of your weigh-ins.
