Failure Is Not An Option has been on my to-read list and is written by NASA's flight director during the Apollo missions.

Dennis R. Jenkins' "Space Shuttle:The History of Developing the National Space Transportation System" is a must read. So much insight into how the shuttle became what it was, and it's fascinating.

It's really interesting. Very detailed descriptions of the history, technical and managerial problems of building a human-rated spacecraft to land on the moon. Written by Thomas Kelly, Chief Engineer on the LEM project at Grumman
