If it isn't too heavy, I would use some hair pin legs like here. Alternatively, consider some cross legs with a middle brace, it might looks really nice with that thick of a table top.

Also a Shou sugi ban wood burn finish with a coat of poly on top looks very good in my opinion. It really depends on what other pieces you have in the room/house. I just like the burnt finish because it keeps the grain of the wood and makes the table a center piece of the room. Just IMO

I used to use a pry bar on them... but then i got myself a one of these

and it was like night and day.

Then you just need a hammer and some vicegrips to pull the nails out.

I've also found that if you can store your pallets out of the weather so they dry out, it all pulls apart a lot easier...

I've made a few of those as presents and have one in my room. I always put these on the bottom for glasses and it looks nice: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000H0W7DG?pc_redir=1405521835&robot_redir=1

I use an Estwing 12" Cats Paw every day at work to pull nails and staples that are often over-driven into wood. Works wonders and has held up really well over the last year.
