> most people dont know how to do it.

And? Most people don't know how to install an operating system, I could teach a vast majority how in an hour. There are countless guides out there, and at the end of the day it isn't hard work. No soldering, or real skill needed. It is plug and play, like lego. Anyone can learn how to do it. I'm not saying people know how to right now. I'm saying it's easy enough a vast majority could learn how.

You're being ignorant to how easy it is to get into computers. I literally have helped a 12 year old build a PC through Skype. Lets not forget, Steam has more users than the Xbox and PS4 combined, by a lot.

>The only thing I have said that is exaggerating is that the PS4 is a high end PC. A mid end PC is more like it if we are talking about custom built monsters than the general population doesnt have. Personally I would call that ultra high end, because its out of reach for us peons.

Uhhh, so are you somehow saying that you cannot make a custom built PC with mid-range specs? And that this somehow makes the PS4 high-end?

That's not how this works bruv. There arn't differant classes of computers, either it's high-end, or it's not. Just because you bought a prebuilt, doesn't make it less-high end than a custom build of the same specs.

You need to keep in mind, that a mid-end PC would run games at average specs (1080@60), with mid level settings. A high end pc would either creep into higher settings, or higher specs (1440/144hz). etc.

The PS4Pro still lacks 1080p@60 on average, and this would not classify as a mid-range build.

>played Paragon and The Last of Us, they looked tasty as fuck.

Nice blatant lie. Last of Us runs worse on PS4 pro, than regular PS4.

Then there's the fact the PS4 Pro fails to hit 1080p on BF1. Even with dynamic resolution scaling, which can bug out.

>Show me a video of a £350 PC that has better graphics than a PS4pro.

  1. It's $500.

  2. $60/year for online play

  3. + Premium on games due to anti-competitive nature of the online stores.

  4. + Having to buy a new console next gen, with 'remastered' versions of your old games

  5. + Inability to use your PS4 Pro for everything in your house, and requiring a PC anyways.

  6. = Much more than you claim.

  7. I haven't made a parts list in a while, /r/buildapc could though.

    I'd need full software specs of games to even attempt to start benchmarking. You do understand that there's no way to change settings on the PS4 right? There's no way to tell what settings are where because it's all locked up. However, that 7870, $100 2011 card can run GTAV at 1080@52 as seen here, PS4 is stuck at 1080@30.

    To get actual in-depth about it, I'd need the PS4's .ini file, because if not I'd have to run a benchmark, compare it to a PS4 video of the exact same, then slight alter one of dozens of settings in the .ini file, then run it again to see what it looks like now.

    And here's a taste of the .ini life.

    <Shadow_SoftShadows value="1" />

    <UltraShadows_Enabled value="false" />

    <Shadow_ParticleShadows value="true" />

    <Shadow_Distance value="1.000000" />

    <Shadow_LongShadows value="true" />

    <Shadow_SplitZStart value="0.930000" />

    <Shadow_SplitZEnd value="0.890000" />

    <Shadow_aircraftExpWeight value="0.990000" />

    <Shadow_DisableScreenSizeCheck value="false" />

    That's just for Shadows in the game. Then there's the actual textures used. The PS4 has a file size for GTAV of ~50GB, PC is 15GB bigger.

    So in order to get a comparison, You'd need to get the raw files from the PS4, replace any textures with what's on it, then play with the settings, all to prove that PC > PS4?

    Bitch nobody's got time for that.

    You need to keep in mind a PC saves you cash in the long run. It allows you to run games on older hardware ULG mod for Skyrim, as well as grandfathering in 'last-gen' games, so much in fact I got the Skyrim Special edition for free because I had the original. so did lots of people. So right there I saved $60. PC is the long con, you save money and can get better shit because of it. If you're so blind as to think that a PS4 only costs it's purchase cost, you're a nutter.

I'm on PS4 too.. I bought a cheap wireless keyboard because of the toxics on this game..

Its really most useful during the draft lobby, but occasionally calling out a troll has made it SO worth it..

EDIT: this is the one I got.. I thought managing a keyboard on my lap would be an issue, but this one is the perfect size and weight, its actually really nice.. its like $20 on amazon, I think I paid $30 at walmart.

u/ctrlaltd1337 · 2 pointsr/paragon

I'm not in the US, but if you are: this is $6.

Please do yourself a favour and just plug in a keyboard so you can set it on your table or desk or whatever you play at. Communication is key in this game, and when you can't express your opinion, it unfortunately leads to things like this.

I should mention I play on PS4 as well.

u/WagonWheelsRX8 · 3 pointsr/paragon

Exactly. I'm OK with them selling an early access title (I mean I paid money to play it). BUT just look at the packaging. Does it clearly indicate anywhere that it is an Early Access game? (Hint: It does not). The game is in early access. Having a product on a shelf in a retail environment PRICED as a full game, that doesn't explicitly state the game is still in early access is misleading, and a poor decision IMO by an otherwise solid company.
Don't get me wrong. I like Paragon, and hope it does well in the long run. But this particular thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

EDIT:
Amazon link:
http://www.amazon.com/Paragon-Essentials-PlayStation-4/dp/B01CTCR25C

The fact it is in closed beta is only mentioned after all of the 'cool features' in the 4th bullet point, and nowhere on the actual box art shown.

u/DillPixels · 1 pointr/paragon

I use something like this when I'm gaming. Super useful.

u/DeepFriedDave · 1 pointr/paragon

This controller keyboard has a potential of working, but curious if the enter button would still open up chat.

http://www.amazon.com/Collective-Minds-Chatboost-Battery-playstation-4/dp/B00QU93WW8/ref=sr_1_6?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1462133387&sr=1-6&keywords=Ps4+keyboard

Regardless, this is the first online multiplayer game I've ever played that doesn't have voice chat built in, yet requires more teamwork and communication to play than most other online games. Almost a must have really.

> Warding is literally free (oh god 1cp pls)!

No, it's not. Warding costs mental effort. You have to be watching the minimap to see where you have vision and where you lack it. You have to be cognizant of which towers are down, how far the minion waves are extended, whether your jungler is on your side of the map, and when the enemy jungler was most recently seen.

> This is my point: there is no question "to ward or not to ward", you ward always.

Nobody asks themselves that question. They do it or they don't even think about it.

> Call it however you want. I might should have used "saboteur" or "faggot" or "asshole", you got me there.

What? No. Don't be homophobic, either.

> Anyway, my point is: if someone does not understand - explain, if they understand, but refuse to ward - leave them be, this is incurable.

You think that every decision every player makes in game is perfectly rational considering the information they have available. This is a mistake. People forget things that they know all the time, especially when they're dealing with nine other people, tracking buff timers, and trying to get last hits. Players who don't habitually think about vision need to be trained to think about vision. It's not an on/off switch based on whether or not they "decide" to ward this game.

Please read Nudge. It's a great book.

I'm not sure who you mean when you say they didn't have it for long - Amazon or players refunding the Essentials Edition. Amazon actually had it stocked for quite a while. It probably didn't sell very well until Paragon became a download on PSN, and major retailers started deep discounting it. That's when it actual became valuable because of the code inside the game. You can actually see 3rd-party sellers drove the price above Amazon's after they had sold out. This is a link to a chart that shows the history of the Essentials Edition on Amazon.

https://charts.camelcamelcamel.com/us/B01CTCR25C/amazon-new.png?force=1&zero=0&w=725&h=440&desired=false&legend=1&ilt=1&tp=all&fo=0&lang=en

There seems to be a high chance a lot information spreading regarding Amazon refund success ends up being misinterpreted. Some people got refunds approved because they bought it from Amazon (the company). Others got denied because they bought from Amazon (the website) but actually through 3rd-party sellers. No one has really been specifying they bought it from Amazon (the company) when they say their refund was approved. It's confusing because in general discussion it doesn't matter who's selling it and more that it was bought on/off/from/through Amazon because of the price.

Scroll down to "What are the system requirements to play Paragon" for more info. A GTX460 is roughly $250 on Amazon, although that doesn't look quite right. It should be cheaper than that. Also, that's the minimum graphics card. If you head over to r/buildapc you can find a lot of help for building your own for relatively cheap if that's something you're interested in. If you're starting from nothing, expect to spend ~$500 or so for a PC (including Motherboard, GPU, CPU, Operating System, etc).

Interesting, any idea if is this one https://www.amazon.com/Paragon-Essentials-PlayStation-4/dp/B01CTCR25C/ ? Also any idea if it got a release on PC? Would be cool to get it eventually just to have it on my shelf as collection

u/idkwthfml · 2 pointsr/paragon

You can use the PlaysStation app for text input. But I don't think you can trigger the input in-game though. It would be nice, though.

You can also get a PS4 controller keyboard for like $17 on Amazon. But I feel you on the whole not wanting to buy additional hardware.

u/Vokun-Maar · 6 pointsr/paragon

The skin is exclusive to the Paragon Essential Edition. It was a hard copy game release with the Open Beta for PS4 only. The code only works for PS4. So if you are a PC player you need to get a friend to let you use it via their PS4 or you are SoL. It also comes with other goodies including 6000 coins.

Gamestop - $23.79

Best Buy - $21.99

Amazon - Pricing Varies

Target - $39.99 THEY WILL PRICE MATCH

I started playing on PS4 but realized it was basically cross-buy with PC and started playing on PC. Don't like playing with a controller so not going back.

For cooling I got this guy on a whim and it works well.

Seems to maintain most of my temps at a decent level. Typically GPU peaks at 77c - it's 30 degree+ weather here though and I don't have AC.

  1. The Steam Controller is garbage. One of the worst controllers I've ever seen, let alone used. Sure it allows for easy couch gaming for strategy games and actual PC navigation, but it is completely wasted for action games.
    I recommend buying a simple wireless keyboard and mousepad for easy PC navigation from the couch. Something like this: ( https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Keyboard-Multi-Touch-Touchpad/dp/B005DKZTMG ).
    For playing Paragon, you can get a USB dongle that allows you to use your PS4 controller on PC, so I'd recommend that if it's what you're uaed to.

  2. PC games often have their prices reduced much faster then console games, and some start out lower too (Overwatch was $40 compared to console's $60). I know I don't preorder unless I absolutely want the game and the stupid bonus I'd get from preordering, but I'm not you. You can preorder if you want. You cn buy games on launch day. Or you can wait 2 years til the game is $4.99 on Steam. You can do whatever you want with your money. One thing I don't recommend though is buying disks, because that means that now you have to add a disk drive to your PC build... And that's just pointless.

  3. I'd avoid buying a prebuilt gaming computer, especially a prebuilt "gaming" laptop. Instead, build one yourself. It will take more work to build one yourself, but it will take more money to buy one pre-built.

The keyboard is a wired cheap one. Like $15. And the mouse is this
Redragon M901 PERDITION 16400 DPI High-Precision Programmable Laser Gaming Mouse (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GU8W5AE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HATOybNAT0G42

And I haven't noticed any lag.

u/b1gfreakn · 3 pointsr/paragon

I believe it's something like this - FPS Freek Vortex - PS4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ISW0TGW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1uZyybEF5PP4W

I've never used one persoanlly, but people swear by them.

u/Teerlys · 1 pointr/paragon

I use a Razer Naga. Runs about $70 and makes gaming ridiculously easier.

u/HaTaX · 2 pointsr/paragon

Take a look at something like this for your PS4 controller if you don't want the noise of a full on keyboard: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0148RR5V2

I hear you on the trolls though, I've run into people who never make mistakes and it's always the rest of the team dragging them down. Sucks when you get more than 2 of them on your own team, I just plod ahead and pick objectives I can deal with on my own when that happens.

u/jtakun · 1 pointr/paragon

Amazon has a couple of "New" ones. They should also bring the code.

u/sellyourself · 2 pointsr/paragon

https://www.amazon.com/dp/1533232601/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4qSrybCS73HKE

In all seriousness, don't take anything personally. You can also mute people so you won't see their pings. Many people are immature

u/red_kirby1 · 3 pointsr/paragon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005EOWBHC/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Price has gone up to $13 now, but it has been worth every penny. Low profile, full size keyboard.

u/Stealthy_Totoro · -6 pointsr/paragon

I simply commented on how the "ITS A BETA BRO CALM DOWN ITS NOT EVEN SHIPPED" is the worst arguement ever. People all over this sub use it CONSTANTLY for literally every complaint.

Greystone OP? Beta, bro

Cards need a rework? Beta, Bro

They changed the title music and I hate it? Beta, bro

Its maddening. And also, they are selling a phsyical game disc through multiple channels, so it HAS shipped.
