Are you okay with having two different pair of headphones?

Because a 7.1 virtual surround could help you greatly with identifying the precise area in CSGO. There is a good list on the following link.. {Note: the V-Moda Crossfade Wireless are a great pair of headphones that are on this list. For both music and gaming [according to the link]}

For music you could get another pair, if you like bass and are okay with the earbuds rather than larger headphones, I would suggest getting the Sony In-Ear Dynamic Headphones MDR-XB50-B

Also, I would suggest turning to r/headphones for such queries, users there are more knowledgeable about such stuff

Hope this helps

Can't you increase your budget at all? $40 is pretty low for a headset. You could probably increase your budget to $50-60 and buy a halfway decent used headset. If you can't, I understand, people have bills to pay, I just wanted to ask.

I say this because I always used cheap headphones and headsets until I built my own gaming PC about 2 years ago. I saved up my money for most of my adult life until I had about $10K to spend to build my new PC and all the peripherals. (I'm poor and have a lot of bills so it took a LONG time to save up that kind of money.) I got Sennheiser PC 363D (which at the time were about $350 USD, they don't make them anymore because they were replaced last year by the newer model, PC 373D (Amazon link) which had worse reviews than the older model, PC 363D) and wish I had gotten a decent headset/headphones years ago. It makes such a huge difference when playing games because I can actually clearly hear what direction the enemy/player is coming from and how far away they are because the headset comes with a removable DAC attached and has both a regular mode and surround-sound mode. I use regular mode for games and surround-sound for music and movies.

Sennheiser makes cheaper options too and if you would be willing to buy used, I'd recommend checking them out. Check out these Sennheiser on-ear headphones and let me know what you think. Some are as low as $40-50 brand new or you could get a more expensive pair used for the same price. Check the used section on Amazon or eBay or even the different reddit subs that trade/sell computer stuff. They're often much cheaper on Amazon too, so if you see headphones on the Sennheiser website and they're too expensive, check for the same model on Amazon because they're usually much cheaper.

Check out these models...

So for mouse I would get a Logitech MX Master (https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Master-Wireless-Mouse-High-precision/dp/B00TZR3WRM/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509671729&sr=1-3&keywords=logitech+mx+master) or MX Master 2 (https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Cross-Computer-Control-Sharing/dp/B071YZJ1G1/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1509671675&sr=8-4&keywords=logitech+mx+master). Both are very good options and are wireless and can be turned into wired if needed. Also the MX Master 2 can connect/switch between multiple computers with different os. As for the mechanical keyboard, it really depends. What do you like? Clicky/Tactile? or maybe Silent/Tactile. It is really up to you. But I really like the AZIO MGK1-K (https://www.amazon.com/Azio-Backlit-Mechanical-Keyboard-MGK1-K/dp/B010M53SLU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509671927&sr=1-2&keywords=azio+mechanical+keyboard) as brown switches are my favorite.

i ended up getting This One and i'm pretty happy with it. solid metal base, pedals have springs with good resistance, theres an audible click when pedal is pushed in enough to register similar to a mech keyboard, and the cable isnt cheapo either.

the software isnt perfect but its better than nothing, you can bind almost anything but mouse movement to each one and i havent tried but i think you can set profiles too. as far as i know it doesnt have auto profiles you can link to programs like some mouse software.

i have mine where one is my global microphone mute and the other is global hotkey to play/pause media. mostly use it while i'm playing games that require a controller and i wanna switch back and forth between media playing and dont want it feeding into discord voice.

the same company sells a single pedal version if you just wanted the one hotkey

This is exactly what you're looking for. It was one of the original 12 to be gsync certified. I have one, and it's amazing. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D377Q6D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4jxXCbAQT7A8F

E: I now realize that's what you posted. I'm a dumbass. But this is a good monitor.

I have a similar issue with headsets. I have been using Audio Technica. I had the $50 set but recently got the $150 pair and it was a nice upgrade in material. The difference between these and the Turtle Beaches I used to have is night and day. The earpads fit fully around my areas and doesn't squish them. I would be able to wear my old headset for a couple hours before my ears would start to hurt. I have never experienced this kind of pain with my audio technicas. You will need an external mic though in which case I also recommend the snowball as a starter.

Edit: Also found these upgraded ear pads that have good reviews.

>I’ll probably just get the G305 with an Energizer ultimate lithium AA battery, so thanks for your advice.

Hey no problem, I hope all goes well. But I would urge you to go for the AAA with a converter. With a AA, the mouse is really back-heavy, which would be especially annoying with a claw grip. With a AAA in a converter, it's much more balanced. Here is a link to the ones I use. $6 for an 8-pack and two day shipping if you have prime. This mouse uses such a miniscule amount of power that the loss of battery life isn't even a problem.

I was looking at ROCCAT. This one (https://www.amazon.com/ROCCAT-Horde-AIMO-Illumination-configurable/dp/B079H1JQKW) seriously checks all the boxes, but I'll be honest, those reviews about dead keyboards and crappy customer service are scaring me.
