Yes of course she's allowed in bed 😊. We have doggie steps that go up to the bed. She has no problems using them. Sometimes she even leaps off them! We actually got a chihuahua as a friend for her who is smaller than her so that she would feel like the dominant dog. I think that your baby would like that as well. She feels like the momma dog and is always watching out for the little Chi.

These are the steps we got.

I know I'm late to the party, but anyway... I always recommend Bag-Balm. I used to work at a rescue shelter, and we used this [to great effect] on dry/cracked/scarred noses and paw pads. It works well on collar sores and light scrapes, too.

I guess that depends on what you mean by good... I like the tighter curl look. So, I brush mine out right before a bath so their curls are tight afterwards. I also keep their hair pretty short. When they were longer during the winter, I brushed them daily to keep the mats out.

Here is the brush I use: http://www.amazon.com/Safari-Self-Cleaning-Large-Small-Slicker/dp/B000YIWVA0/ref=sr_1_4?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1427503207&sr=1-4&keywords=dog+brush
It works well for getting out tangles.

This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.com/BioSilk-Therapy-Detangling-Protecting-Dogs/dp/B01330IKAA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1542762139&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=dog+detangler+spray&psc=1

I also use a good conditioner to help work the mats out in the bath. This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/Chris-Christensen-After-Bathe-Conditioner/dp/B00CRKLOHO/ref=lp_3020782011_1_12?srs=3020782011&ie=UTF8&qid=1542762378&sr=8-12

The only other suggestion I have would be to work at the mats little by little. My poodle gets mats behind her front paws very easily. I brush her every day, however, some days it is really bad. My poodle uses a similar type harness, but i've never had any mating issues with it. She also wears a collar with a velvet lining which seems to help.

Andis and Oster are both good brands. You can definitely learn to groom your Poodles yourself. Invest in “the Kalstone book” as a resource.

If it's not too curly, a normal study pin brush should be fine. I like the kind with thicker bristles and the rubber nubbin at the tip, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Andis-Pet-Premium-Pin-Brush/dp/B00O0WOJVK

If you find your boy has lots of tangles, you may also want to invest in a slicker brush.

Confession: We actually rarely brush our girls and they never have matting... But they go to the groomer every 4-6 weeks, whereas my friend with a poodle mix only goes to the groomer over 2-3 months but needs to brush their dog 1x-2x a week. It really depends on the texture of their hair (our girls are both very silky so tangles just slide out).

You should be brushing at least once a week, maybe even 2x-3x if the hair is longer. To make sure it doesn't get matted. I recommend buying a miracle brush! at Amazon.

My girls were going in 2x a month for trimming and face/feet and bathing. I recently just decided to do them myself and save the money.

Poodles don't really shed, at least mine don't, I think that's the point of a poodle? I never have hair in my house and I have two of them.

It usually takes me about 20-30 minutes to brush out each of my girls, but an hour if I decide to blow them out first.

The wife and I really like this de-matting comb.

I'd look in to getting one of THESE as they have the teeth that "float" in the handle and allow the mats to break up. Once you've done that, you can use a slicker brush to fluff out their hair.

Found the guards I use on amazon here. I used the blue #2 3/8" on the body. I use this on the face.
