Two great questions, but I'll answer the second first. If the drone is lost/damaged/confiscated, it's the responsibility of the Lessee to replace it by means of payment of full retail value. This is the same thing that happens if you damage, lose, or misplace a tool you rented from The Home Depot. (first paragraph)

To answer your first question, you must consider the full offering of both DJI and GoPro. While I will fully admit, the DJI drones are definitely more feature and technology-packed, there are reasons to pick the Karma over a DJI drone. Why? For starters, the Karma pack comes with the drone body, trans-plantable stabilizer, Karma grip, and the Hero5 action camera with a few accessories. Right out of the box, you get a handheld stabilizer, drone, and killer action cam. With DJI, the camera is fixed, as is the stabilizer, and last I checked the DJI cameras don't like water much. This is only second to the fact that even though the Karma pack isn't cheap, ($1500) it's still competitively priced against the newest Phantom 4. ($2100) And that's not even the 4+. Oh and just being nit-picky here, the P4 still requires you to use your phone or tablet as a live display for the drone, for the screen to be included you need to move up to the Phantom 4+.

Now why am I comparing the Karma to the Phantom 4? They're very clearly in different drone leagues. YES. The DRONES are in different leagues, but the cameras aren't. I had always thought that the most important part of having a drone was the shot; if you had a shitty camera, you couldn't get the shot regardless of how many rings it can fly around the other drone. I've seen first-hand footage from both of these drones, and I have to admit that most people can't tell the difference unless they are a videophile.

"Woah, woah, woah... Scratch that point, the P4 has a 20 megapixel camera and the Hero5 is only 12! That's a huge difference!" Okay, good point, then I guess we should be considering the Phantom 3 Professional with it's equally specc'd camera! That link is for a refurbished model, and its still $1000+, not to mention you STILL don't get an action cam AND a handheld stabilizer. And though the image quality from THESE two drones (P3 and Karma) is pretty similar, I'd still have to give the edge to the Hero5 and Karma.

The DJI series is all about the drone, and how feature packed it is etc., whereas the Karma is focused on the GoPro ecosystem and how well it integrates. To me, getting this Karma kit was all about versatility. I used it almost every weekend since I got it back in May, so not just once or twice either. I took it hiking out along the Thousand Islands (would totally recommend), out in Gatineau Park and some other incredible places. For those places that I couldn't bring the drone, I brought the Karma Grip and had some incredible steady-cam shots of my dog chasing me through the forest, or riding my mountain bike through the trails, or some great shots of the La Machine festival up in Ottawa. Even still, when I went where the Karma Grip couldn't go, I took my Hero5. I went waterskiing, snorkelling, swimming with the dog, out for a night of fun with the boys (on a Saturday obviously) and even helped me catch a fender-bender on cam when I was testing it for the first time with the image stabilization. I got the Karma kit for the incredible versatility, and how well it fit into my lifestyle. Sure, I could have gotten a refurb P3 Pro and a Hero5 for the same price, but then I'm losing out on that extra dimension of video capture without the handheld stabilizer.

Oh and not to mention the Phantom 3 Standard can be found for $540; the cheapest I found, and that's significantly more than 'a couple hundred bucks' and sometimes that's REALLY out of someone's price range. I figured if someone was going on a cool boat cruise, or wanted to get an aerial shot of something for an amateur movie, or really just wanted to try the drone out to see if they want one for themselves, $50 isn't a bad price to pay. At almost 1/11th the price of the cheapest (but not quite equivalent) drone available (P3S), I'd say that's fairly worth capturing an incredible moment for whatever your reason is.

Oh and for the point about covering costs, I didn't have to pay full retail value for it. The costs have been covered, and it wasn't until I saw an ad on Kijiji about drone rentals in Toronto a few days ago that I thought of this. I was also always taught that if you've got something that someone wants, never give it away for free. (but don't gouge people either, that's not cool.)

Hope that was justification enough!

I bought this book years ago when I took 255 and found it invaluable. Way clearer and more helpful than the textbook.

Bonus, at that time the assignments and this book had the exact same question, and the book has an answer key.

If you do decide to go with Teksavvy, shoot me a message. I'm leaving and will be selling my Teksavvy modem (TP Link 8816, link here: http://www.amazon.ca/Tp-Link-TD-8816-Adsl2-Ethernet-Router/dp/B0037D922Y)

Works fine, but in my new place I'm getting cable internet and thus don't need it anymore.

EDIT: As pointed out below, this is for DSL. It'll work with their 15 Mbit plans and below, but not the faster (25 and 50 mbit ones).
