What part of of the city are you in? I'm in the North Central area - and I'm not able to get Global either - until I got an antenna. And it comes in perfectly, all the time now. (3/4 bars).

Heck, I was even able to get CTV and CBC without an antenna (was just using a coax cable as my 'antenna' - honestly, any piece of wire will work to some extent.)

You probably just need to buy a better antenna - FYI, this is the one I purchased.

http://www.amazon.ca/Winegard-Company-FL-5000-FlatWave-Digital/dp/B0063705PE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1412310900&sr=8-3&keywords=hdtv+antenna

There's also an amp'ed version of it, but considering the Global antenna is only like 15-20 miles out of town (I think?), if this one doesn't work - that one probably wouldn't either.

BTW, are you scanning for HD or SD channels? The beauty w/ HD (as you're probably aware), is that even if you get a minimal signal, the picture will be 100% perfect - unlike SD, of course - and it's even a slightly better picture than cable given how the signal is not compressed at all.

I like and agree with u/ragingalcoholic73 's comment about fashion and keeping warm. You can look fashionable or be warm, pick one. Everyone here has been making great suggestions for what to wear to keep warm, so I won't beat a dead horse on that topic. What I haven't seen come up yet is foot traction. I walk to work every day in the winter (2km's each way) and one thing that has saved my hide a number of times is slip-on winter boot cleats. The link I posted is the exact model that I have, purchased from Costco, but anything along those lines should do the trick. These things live in my bag (that I carry every day with me) all winter and I can pop them on in no time at all. One thing people take for granted is the full-length stride when you're walking. In the winter time you HAVE to shorten your stride, or you'll end up slipping and falling on your ass. I've bruised my tailbone a number of times in falls and it's NOT fun. If it's slippery out, walk like a penguin. That is, take short little strides. If your foot slips out from underneath you, you're far less likely to fall if your feet are closer together. The downside is that walking any distance takes far longer, and the boot cleats will make your walk quicker, which keeps you warmer, and gets you where you're going faster so you're out of the cold sooner. Strongly recommend you (and anyone else reading) to get a product like I've linked above. When you get where you're going (work, the mall, etc) you can slip the cleats off so you don't sound like you're wearing tap-dancing shoes when you get inside.

Also, if you're a male and you're able to I strongly suggest you consider growing a beard for the winter. If it's thick enough, it can block SOME mild wind and prevent windburn and chapped lips. A beard is never a substitute for a scarf, but it's always nearby when you need it. Plus beards are awesome.

$200+ is a whole lot to pay for nostalgia, unless you are playing the collectibles market... If you are just looking to game and have some fun, dude just get a set of usb SNES pads (or whatever) and a raspberry pi 3 / zero W and dump retropi rom on a card.

here is a cute case, controllers and a pi for price point Ref.

https://www.amazon.ca/iNNEXT-Nintendo-Controller-Raspberry-Windows/dp/B01NCX7VZT

or a generic case and pi zero should do fine with snes/ nes emulation

https://www.amazon.ca/CanaKit-Raspberry-Wireless-Official-Supply/dp/B071DVLBC1

loads of fun, very capable lil computer, lots to play around with on it too there are lots of video guides on setting up retropi and a network share to dump roms on it over the network, EZ

I'd recommend buying the one mentioned above, http://www.amazon.ca/Winegard-Company-FL-5000-FlatWave-Digital/dp/B0063705PE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1412310900&sr=8-3&keywords=hdtv+antenna

We have it hidden behind curtains on our window and all the channels come in pretty strong.

I don’t have much to share, but this book is a great read.

OTC tech in Regina sells a few. I bought mine on Amazon because I wanted to get global. This one will get everyone but global. The global tower is further away.

https://otvtech.ca/catalogue?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_stock.tpl&product_id=23783&category_id=525&keyword=Antenna

I purchased this amplified antenna to get global.

Also two friends that live downtown use this model which apparently works for all 5 channels

I'll save you the trouble. First, get yourself something like this.
https://www.amazon.ca/TP-LINK-TL-SG105E-5-Port-Gigabit-Tag-Based/dp/B00N0OHEMA

When you set it up, use the port based VLAN area in the setup, and put Port 1 as VLAN ID 1000, tagged. Make Port 2 the same, then make a third port untagged with VLAN 1000. Then, connect Port 1 to your ONT Fibre box (the white thing), Port 2 to your Actiontec router, and Port 3 to your own router. Reset everything to grab IPs, and voila. The Max TV traffic will be routed through your Actiontec as normal, but internet traffic will go through your own router, get it's own IP, etc. If you don't have Max TV, you can skip the Actiontec steps altogether.

The big BUT here is that if you have any sort of TV or Internet issues Sasktel will not be able to help you unless you hook everything back up the way it was.

They can be tricky to find in the city. I usually just go to amazon to get little stuff like that.

48 Crib Pegs If you have Amazon Prime then you can have them at your place tomorrow.

Toreba is not the only online option.
There are a bunch of other new and often better options in this book.
Crane Games, Claw Machines, and UFO Catchers

The price from Amazon.ca is $42.00 for the board , $30.00 for the case and $12.00 for the power supply for a total before tax price of $84.00. My time to set up the SNES system aand load the software is worth something - I would do it for $110.00

You can buy this at costco, I just did a couple weeks ago. Works well, although I'm not baking croissants :S

When my bikes have been stolen the U-lock was cut with good bolt cutters. I have had them stolen from the university in the middle of the day even (granted in summer when there's less traffic). But they came and stole my and everyone elses bikes, there was a line of chains and locks on the ground.

Either you get a bike only worth 100$ and get a 25$ lock and accept it will get stolen at some point. Or if you have a 500$ bike you need to get something like:

https://www.amazon.ca/Kryptonite-997986-Black-Fahgettaboudit-U-Lock/dp/B000OZ9VLU

Honestly my last bike that was stolen, the back tire was dented, the brakes were shot, and honestly the lock I had was worth more than the bike was when it got taken.

Those things are such shit. Talk to the city. They will credit your water bill for under the counter filters. See if they will go for a $270 RO system. Then get this. Pretty easy to install yourself.

https://www.amazon.ca/iSpring-RCC7-Capacity-Filtration-Softener/dp/B003XELTTG

Or, hell, if they will pay just have someone come install it.

Worked in the industry and this is true for HVAC duct work. You don't need to routinely clean your ducts and the only time you should is when there is a health/respiratory problem (allergens) or enough crap to block air, which is hardly ever unless you drop a football down the ducts.

Dryer vent is a different story though and I would recommend if you don't have one of these to get one. Your dryer vent should be kept clean for obvious reasons and will accumulate a ton of shit in them. I have one of these traps. This is downstream from the lint catcher in the dryer and it's unbelievable how much shit the second one collects.
