Luck: the force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person's life, as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities 2. good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance 3. a combination of circumstances, events, etc., operating by chance to bring good or ill to a person: She's had nothing but bad luck all year. 4. some object on which good fortune is supposed to depend

So what I meant wasn't precisely what I said, but you should be able to tell from the context of my first sentence that it is what I meant. Dude had circumstances that brought both good an ill. In Think and Grow Rich, author Napoleon Hill explains how sometimes things that are initially unfortunate end up working in our favor, more so than if they never took place. Dan Ariely talks about how being a burn victim put him in the position to spend more time on education which got him where he is today, and Malcolm Gladwell even talks about how when David beat Goliath, it wasn't so much of a miracle as we thought because Davidwas more agile, more trained with his weapon, and Goliath was half-blind! Recall the moments before Leonidas died in 300--*His helmet was stifling, it narrowed his vision. And he must see far. His shield was heavy. It threw him off balance. And his target is far away.** Those things meant to give strength and advantage actually stifled, and things that stifle sometimes give advantage. That's all I meant with my little ramble.

Yes, we agree, I was satirizing the OP with his "I should take a screenshot"

Snow Crash is a cyberpunk adventure book. It's been a long time since I've read it, but the plot contains (hinges upon, maybe) the idea that an ancient language took the form of forcible memes, words which forced people to act, and then pass the words along. Or something. It's good, regardless.
