> if it is mostly tile I would definitely take a look at the braava jet.

I'm in the market for a roomba or something similar. This is the first I've heard about the Braava Jet, but I haven't done a ton of research. I saw one on Amazon for $240 (the 380t model).

We've got dogs that shed, our main floor where this would be used is tile and hardwood (except two bedrooms that are carpeted, remaining bedrooms / rooms are hardwood).

What would you suggest for someone looking to clean up the dog hair and would prefer something that could do a "mid-week" mopping? (I'm expecting that I'll still have to mop the tile by hand once a week, unless they're that good).

NOTE: I'd rather get something that works great on the hardwood / tile, even if it means skipping the two carpeted rooms.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You should know about lithium replacement batteries for your Roomba. The electronics are a bit tricker to design, but it seems companies are getting better at it. It looks great in theory too -- the batteries are lighter (more runtime), hold more energy (again, more runtime), and last for more cycles. This one averages 4.5 stars over 71 ratings. I've had one a few months and the battery life is unbelievable.

Also, wifi controllers are the ultimate in Roomba pimpage these days. Check out the RooWifi (available now) and the Thinking Cleaner (currently being Kickstarted).

That's a fantastic tip. Mine don't seem to respond to the walls, thanks for sharing that.

I would suggest the Aerovac bin upgrade (better filters, easier to buy) and the [comb tooth door - ](Comb teeth door for AeroVac dust bin https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00I0G9UYI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Y3.OBbEARQRTR)

Basically makes the brushes self-cleaning.

Just make sure you take off the bearing every time you clean the brush and get the hair out of it. That maintenance with the sealed bearing insures there will never be a problem. Really the only flaw of this cleaning robot imo. It's such a good cleaner that ive forgiven it of this short coming.

wow, $100 for $1 worth of intelligence, what a rip off.

anyway, thanks for the feedback. i suppose i could get into the habit of simply pressing the top button after i rake the cat's litterbox and leave the room.

so assuming i don't want to pay for scheduling, just a small basic self charging unit that i do not have to empty till it's nearly full of litter, let's say a cup or two - what models or generation should i seek out or avoid while trolling through the craigslist ads.

reviewers seem to like the +3yr old Roomba 560, and a few have shown up on craigslist for $100-$200. but my needs are so modest, can't i go back to even older models just to clean up a closet size room?

what about buying a roomba wannabe?

Also, a small piece cut from some of this and placed under an empty HEPA filter housing makes a long lasting freer flowing replacement filter similar to that used with the pre-HEPA Roomba.. It can also be used with the HEPA filter as a pre-filter to extend the life if you choose. I use only this in my 805 and 980 to improve suction. Very easy to clean with another vac or by rinsing.

A couple sheets are a lifetime supply.

I used these with great success on the underside of the couch, about an inch back from the edge. They hang down far enough so the robot's obstacle bumper hits them and reverses.

I've had very good luck with these:

A large portion of the noise comes from the ridges on your vent -- this will solve the trick. I recommend either the brushed nickel or brass. My wife and I upgraded all of ours to the rubbed bronze and it was too dark and non reflective that I would come home almost every day to the Roomba dead on top of the vent. Apparently it drives halfway over the vent and because it's black and doesn't reflect the IR light, it thinks it's on a cliff. I would say at least 3 days a week it would get stuck on the vent. We switched again to brushed nickel and it hasn't gotten stuck once.

If you are on a budget, the roomba 675 will do the job. It does not have any fancy features but it does connect to WiFi which lets you set schedules and run cleaning jobs while away from home. I have half of your square foot area, a dog and a 9 year old.

> And geez, I didn't realize they were so cheap.

http://amzn.com/B00D68H6MS (about $23 for a new battery)

I've had fine luck with buying one of these every 2-3 years for my Roombas to keep them running. I'm much more likely to burn out a gear box due to cat/dog hair (two long-haired cats, one long-haired dog that sheds massively).

When my power supply died for my Roomba 530, it was under warranty, yes.

I got this one for my 660 and it works really really well

Amazon Anewpow 4400mAh

I don't know how it will work with a 980 given the other posters comment about the voltage.

If i understand what you want correctly, I suggest spraying your air filter with some febreeze or the like, or drop some essential oils or the like on it. It should definitely freshen the air.

That or place one of these on the roomba. They use a Command strip with a replaceable smell packet thing:

https://www.amazon.com/Febreze-Stick-Refresh-Freshener-Starter/dp/B00AYCXL4G/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1494896699&sr=1-2&keywords=febreze+small+spaces

Lastly you could probably attach a car air freshener to the exhaust, not a christmas tree one but on of the clip on things.

I just checked the 620 one and in the Amazon description says "new Cleaning system" and has a thumb of the blue cleaning system, so it should have the new one. I'd make sure though if I get it that that's also the case.

Other than like a soft bumper you've covered everything I know. Apparently you can change out the bins for some of the older models to the aerovac ones and there's an enhanced brush assembly that seems to have some decent reviews, but I haven't tried either. They're also a little pricey.

Look for Rug anchors. Home Depot and Osh have them. Depending on the size of the rug, you may want to get the corner type.

I use these and they work well, but that's just for a hallway and on Pergo:

u/jb007gd · 2 pointsr/roomba

I'd recommend going with the Enhanced Cleaning Module. Here's a link:

Roomba 500 600 700 Series Enhanced Brush Assembly https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008Z9A3YG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_6.-GybKQSD6Z6

I replaced my 530s stock assembly with this one and it got much quieter. Supposedly it picks up more dirt too.
